I personally own a C8 Z06 and I’ve never owned a corvette before. They just never interested me because of the other cars I’m used to driving. This car tho had the interior quality, looks and most importantly performance of all of my other cars. The new Z06 is the best car you can buy right now for the performance in my opinion and is amazing to drive!
I have just one thing to say as a German born and a guy who works for German car Brands for years now: for example, Mercedes-Benz AMG deleted the front mid engine and transaxle setup 2 seater GT and developed a normal mounted engine/gear setup GT for the upcoming generation... corvette did exact the opposite thing... and I think that is a genius and brave move... german sport brands, please take some training and advice from the American guys and be brave again please... It's the 4 cam shafts and 32 valves vs 1 cam shaft and 16 valves. Just like the GT500s and Coyotes have been doing for a long time. Finally Gm realized pushrods suck

Congrats on the north of 1 million subs Joe, lot of hard work on your part. Regarding the Corvette, I feel like they are falling into the trap that Audi did with the R8 in that they are pricing it out of the "affordable" market. These MSRP at what 150k with options? Add 100k of dealer markups and this sits in Lambo pricing. The C8 sold like hotcakes because it was sub 100k (well without dealer markups...). 100k seems to be the golden zone for semi affordable performance cars. Once they start selling for north of 150k they are realistically out of reach of a big chunk of the market. Acura did the same thing with the new gen NSX. If they could have squeezed this in at 100k (before options) this would be a barnburner.
For a mid-engine supercar loaded with carbon fiber and a premium interior along with being a hard-top convertible at only 70 extra lbs I’d say that this is an absolute bargain. Way cheaper than ANYTHING else you could get that remotely compares. There are plenty of sub-$100k new corvette models available to buy. This is the top of the line model. It’s not supposed to be THAT affordable for what it is. Base corvettes go for half the price or less. If everyone in the market for a corvette could afford the top-of-the-line model then that’s what they’d get, as is with every other type of vehicle, generally speaking.
Definitely in my top 5! I just cannot get that Porsche out of my mind since it’s been there since I was little! Chevy is definitely making major moves with the corvette soon being a 4WD shortly! That’s going to be something to look forward to in the areas where it snows!

My buddy found an arctic white Z06, and he jumped on it. Took a trip to Utah, and pulled the trigger. No camera can do this car justice in person. Raiti is just gifted at showcasing. 👍
I saw this same Z06 spec Sunday. It was coming around a tight corner a bit fast, but it took that curve so flat. Oh man, this thing is epic. It looks so much better than the regular Vette. That extra width and revised front fascia really transforms the Vette. It’s a buy!! I’m not crapping on a Porsche, but that GT3 optioned out will cost you $230K-$250K. A optioned out Z06 with dealer markup will be $165K-$170K out the door.
First. Imagine going to the stealership only to find they added 100k to the already too high price and are trying to get 250k for a Z06. Thats whats happening nationwide. The dealers have eliminated a large group of buyers from the 2020 c8 when they marked prices up as well. Hopefully GM will pay for allowing that to happen
Great content as usual. Joe and his crew are the best in the business. As a owner of a C8 Z51 - the Z06 adds a dose of excitement to the C8. The Stingray lacks roll on get up and go in my opinion. Other than that - great car.
People will say "what do you need that much power for when you're going to mostly drive it on the street?" I will compare owning a high horsepower car to self-defense. I can personally say that when you train in self-defense, no matter what discipline, it provides a natural sense of confidence that you can handle yourself in practically any situation. I think the same can be said with sports cars or sedans with high horsepower. It provides that sense of confidence when driving and that enhances the driving experience you may otherwise never experience. Love that Chevy created the most badass V8 vehicle ever.

Horace Slay Corvettes of Jackson Mississippi was a Corvette dealer for over 40 years. Around 2004 I stopped in the dealership and talked to Horace about the early ZO6 Corvettes. He told me they were the biggest scam Chevrolet put over on everybody! And this man knew his Corvettes
As a C8 Stingray owner, I can’t even imagine how amazing the Z06 must be. I’ve hit 0-60 in 2.8 and barely get to tap into its power during daily driving.

Great video Joe!!! This car is an evolution for the Corvette. I have been on the list to get one for 2.5 years now. I am frustrated with GM having to wait so long so I ordered a Mustang Dark Horse. I have a Porsche 911 Turbo S in my garage which is faster than the Z06, except on the track. :) The best thing about this car is the sound!!!! I am concerned about longevity of flat plane crank engine. Oh well it has to be the best Corvette ever. I have a 2013 Z06 427. Thanks for the amazing video!!! I was in Vegas with my wife celebrating my 30th birthday and we went on Turo and rented one just like this but in white not as customized. I can’t tell you how free you feel in one of these, it’s like nothing else. Period. Cruised down US15 to the Nevada/Cali border going about 120 the whole way. Just a absolute monster of the road. I recommend anyone to atleast take a day and rent one. It’s 100% worth it.
Well engineered with a very special engine. That square wheel is an absolute deal breaker for me and I suspect for other folks. Why would GM stand in their own way with that wheel? It's new on the market so it will sell anyway but at some point sales with fall off and that wheel isn't helping.
Nit picking the steering wheel isn’t a big deal you don’t even notice it. And it allows you to see the whole dash. If the steering wheel is a deal breaker you weren’t buying the car in the first place.
I now decided to go with black. This car is amazing! Only thing I would change is convertible and black rims. Must be polished metal wheels for sure. Love the fact there’s no red (stitching, seat belts, calipers) I would even get rid of red seat belt clips lol. Red is just not masculine. Presenter did an awesome job with knowledge, passion, and humor. I usually don’t subscribe or make comments but I did both.
Red in general is a feminine color google it. Exception when it represents fire so I would put red valve covers with engine compartment lights. Need to make important things like engine to pop not seats lol.
Lot of people do like black wheels but what they don’t know is wheels are one of most important features of a car so much it’s synonymous term with cars so it should not be hidden in the background like vent covers but it needs to be highlighted. Likewise, exhaust sound on this car is amazing so I wouldn’t go with black exhaust tips. I spend money where it’s important like carbon brakes.
Gr8 review Joe!!! The Z06 is a true track car, that you could actually "daily drive". What a value over its very few competitors! GM has knocked it out of the park with this one...
Something you cannot beat? It is GM's adaptive 'magnetic ride' suspension, which is now offered to supercars (ie. Ferrari). Amazingly what a great design.
The z06 is the better value and track car for sure, however the gt3 has a manual option which gives it an edge in driving experience which justifies its higher price I’d say performance go for the z06 and drivers car go for the gt3
Manuals are overrated considering what the latest DCT's can do. They can upshift/downshift immediately when the paddle is engaged, so the only advantage a manual trans has is a third peddle. That's it.
@@cali2468 I think you're missing the point of why most people choose a manual which is for it's extra driver engagement, as well as more handling control. Sure it may not be as quick vs a machine, but I personally drive on the public road most of the time, and if we're splitting hairs with performance numbers it seems like that's more for the track or drag strip.

Not sure I could have more fun in this Z06 than my C7 Z06 with manual tranni when ripping through the mountains of Maine, NH and VT. On track I'll give it to the C8, but the manual just makes those mountain rips so much more fun.
I agree. I have '17 Z06 vert (twilight edition) and the power band and visceral experience/torque you feel with a manual is so satisfying. I had a '22 Stingray htc for 5 months and yes it was cool but I missed that raw feeling and rowing gears. I know I'd prefer the increased hp in a Z or Eray. I need to test drive one for sure.
Most enjoyable review. When I lived in Clearwater Dimmitt was downtown and Countryside where you were driving was country and orange groves. Corvette has a mystique factor Porsche will never have. Which is better? Steak or lobster.

And the GT3 has the same 0-60 of 3.2 as the GTS so it's a relevant comparison. Porsches are renowned for their reliability, it's a known fact. You can look at JD Power and see that they are consistently on top.
Hi, Joe, this Chevrolet c8 corvette Z06 is a super awesome car I don't know the Porche 911 Gt3 I've never seen a review but this one looks sinister, especially in black colour however Chevrolet has provided a v8 tremec dual-clutch transmission with 670 hp and 460 lb-ft it's a huge amount powerful 140 thousand dollars it's a lot nice Stichting everywhere throughout the cabin which is awesome the sound is perfect thanks

This car as well as the pass decade is why people can't ignore American automotive engineering anymore. I've driven muscle cars bone stock from the 70s and 80s. You guys have come a long way.
The C8 Z06 is a great car for sure, but I was surprised with how soft and isolated the driving experience felt when I drove it. It felt more like a GT car than a sports car because of that. It puts out numbers, but it doesn't feel as fast or as sporty as it actually is.
The Corvette is finally a truly refined car that is on par with most super cars. Before it was always a poor mans Super car. It may still not be a Ferrari which no car is. But a lot of people who can afford super cars and have a garage full of them would actually consider buying one. The mid engine,flat plane crank and body styling did that. My friend has a Z06 and that thing is scary quick.
My biggest complaint about the Corvette has always the multiple trim levels. If I was a corvette guy I’d only be able to be happy with a ZR1, I mean if you don’t have the ZR1 you’re always last, just like Ricky Bobby. That would be like Honda having a Type R, Type RR, and a Type RRR. It’s really odd to have so many variants of a fast car and again if you’re not in a ZR1 to me your last. Sorry it’s how my mind thinks and I just couldn’t enjoy anything else Corvette as beautiful as the Z06 is it pains me.
That’s not how it works dummy. Some trims are better for the street and average man. The C8 Z and ZR1 are meant to be driven hard on a track. They are race cars that are just barely street legal. There is no room to open up a 750 HP car on the streets. The difference between the Stingray and Z06 is very minimal in a street/stoplight to stoplight setting. Also if something goes wrong your car is likely in the shop for a month as you wait for a new motor. Very few GM certified techs out there that know how to work on a Z or ZR1.
@@GinNBoost Yet 99.9% of Corvettes never see a race track and they aren’t race cars they are super cars. Very few would ever be in a race on a track as well. They are enthusiasts vehicles from GM. My points and opinion still remains that it’s an odd situation for GM to have so many trims of their best sports car.

Most typically when your cars have the same power plant they offer special edition cosmetics etc not a completely different power plant spec in those special trims of the same sports car. The problem I have with the lesser trims and the reason I wouldn’t buy one, is that it makes them less special as a corvette to me personally. Cars built for the masses like the Camaro, Corvette, Mustang, Challenger, Chargers you see them everywhere and unless you have the top trim you will look like regular traffic. No one’s looking twice at them and only enthusiasts notice if you are in a top trim of those “dime a dozen” American models. I like vehicles I can drive and not see other models of the same car on every street corner. If I’m throwing down $150-200k for a vehicle it’s not going to be on a Chevy Corvette. I’m quite sure the majority of people would agree. 🧐

I really love how they strayed away from the Ferrari-esque design they used to sort of have. The sharper and aggressive body really goes well with the sound and soul of the car.

Great video Joe!!! This car is an evolution for the Corvette. I have been on the list to get one for 2.5 years now. I am frustrated with GM having to wait so long so I ordered a Mustang Dark Horse. I have a Porsche 911 Turbo S in my garage which is faster than the Z06, except on the track. :) The best thing about this car is the sound!!!! I am concerned about longevity of flat plane crank engine. Oh well it has to be the best Corvette ever. I have a 2013 Z06 427. Thanks for the amazing video!!! I was in Vegas with my wife celebrating my 30th birthday and we went on Turo and rented one just like this but in white not as customized. I can’t tell you how free you feel in one of these, it’s like nothing else. Period. Cruised down US15 to the Nevada/Cali border going about 120 the whole way. Just a absolute monster of the road. I recommend anyone to atleast take a day and rent one. It’s 100% worth it.

That square wheel is an absolute deal breaker for me and I suspect for other folks. Why would GM stand in their own way with that wheel? It's new on the market so it will sell anyway but at some point sales with fall off and that wheel isn't helping.

Nit picking the steering wheel isn’t a big deal you don’t even notice it. And it allows you to see the whole dash. If the steering wheel is a deal breaker you weren’t buying the car in the first place.
I now decided to go with black. This car is amazing! Only thing I would change is convertible and black rims. Must be polished metal wheels for sure. Love the fact there’s no red (stitching, seat belts, calipers) I would even get rid of red seat belt clips lol. Red is just not masculine. Presenter did an awesome job with knowledge, passion, and humor. I usually don’t subscribe or make comments but I did both.

Red in general is a feminine color google it. Exception when it represents fire so I would put red valve covers with engine compartment lights. Need to make important things like engine to pop not seats lol.

Lot of people do like black wheels but what they don’t know is wheels are one of most important features of a car so much it’s synonymous term with cars so it should not be hidden in the background like vent covers but it needs to be highlighted. Likewise, exhaust sound on this car is amazing so I wouldn’t go with black exhaust tips. I spend money where it’s important like carbon brakes.

The Z06 is definitely better than the Porsche especially when you consider the difference in price.
One thing that's common between the two cars...even if you want one, they are very hard to get hold of.

Something you cannot beat? It is GM's adaptive 'magnetic ride' suspension, which is now offered to supercars (ie. Ferrari). Amazingly what a great design.

The z06 is the better value and track car for sure, however the gt3 has a manual option which gives it an edge in driving experience which justifies its higher price I’d say performance go for the z06 and drivers car go for the gt3
Manuals are overrated considering what the latest DCT's can do. They can upshift/downshift immediately when the paddle is engaged, so the only advantage a manual trans has is a third peddle. That's it.
@@cali2468 I think you're missing the point of why most people choose a manual which is for it's extra driver engagement, as well as more handling control. Sure it may not be as quick vs a machine, but I personally drive on the public road most of the time, and if we're splitting hairs with performance numbers it seems like that's more for the track or drag strip.

Not sure I could have more fun in this Z06 than my C7 Z06 with manual tranni when ripping through the mountains of Maine, NH and VT. On track I'll give it to the C8, but the manual just makes those mountain rips so much more fun.

I agree. I have '17 Z06 vert (twilight edition) and the power band and visceral experience/torque you feel with a manual is so satisfying. I had a '22 Stingray htc for 5 months and yes it was cool but I missed that raw feeling and rowing gears. I know I'd prefer the increased hp in a Z or Eray. I need to test drive one for sure.
I agree I have a C7 Z06 manual and I’m not getting rid of it. It’s a monster on the street but I do like my C8 HTC Z51 too.
I wasn’t impressed with the stingray but the ZO6 is a beast but truthfully I’m not picking it over a GT3 with a stick show me the ZR1.

Most enjoyable review. When I lived in Clearwater Dimmitt was downtown and Countryside where you were driving was country and orange groves. Corvette has a mystique factor Porsche will never have. Which is better? Steak or lobster.

Also, Porsche always underreports its stats while other manufacturers slightly exaggerate.

That car is not a direct competitor of the Z06. It is the GT3/GT3 RS, which are more expensive. And how do you know the GTS is more reliable than the Z06?
@@TheTmat007 why would a GT3 be a competitor and not a GTS? Even though the Z06 has more torque and horsepower, the GTS is just as fast. And the GT3 has the same 0-60 of 3.2 as the GTS so it's a relevant comparison.
Porsches are renowned for their reliability, it's a known fact. You can look at JD Power and see that they are consistently on top.
Hi, Joe, this Chevrolet c8 corvette Z06 is a super awesome car I don't know the Porche 911 Gt3 I've never seen a review but this one looks sinister, especially in black colour however Chevrolet has provided a v8 tremec dual-clutch transmission with 670 hp and 460 lb-ft it's a huge amount powerful 140 thousand dollars it's a lot nice Stichting everywhere throughout the cabin which is awesome the sound is perfect thanks
The C8 3LT is very nice too. Mine is and I upgraded the wheels to 20/21 the exhaust and sport cats and it sounds VERY SEXY!!

The C8 Z06 is a great car for sure, but I was surprised with how soft and isolated the driving experience felt when I drove it. It felt more like a GT car than a sports car because of that. It puts out numbers, but it doesn't feel as fast or as sporty as it actually is.

The Corvette is finally a truly refined car that is on par with most super cars. Before it was always a poor mans Super car. It may still not be a Ferrari which no car is. But a lot of people who can afford super cars and have a garage full of them would actually consider buying one. The mid engine,flat plane crank and body styling did that. My friend has a Z06 and that thing is scary quick.

My biggest complaint about the Corvette has always the multiple trim levels. If I was a corvette guy I’d only be able to be happy with a ZR1, I mean if you don’t have the ZR1 you’re always last, just like Ricky Bobby. That would be like Honda having a Type R, Type RR, and a Type RRR. It’s really odd to have so many variants of a fast car and again if you’re not in a ZR1 to me your last. Sorry it’s how my mind thinks and I just couldn’t enjoy anything else Corvette as beautiful as the Z06 is it pains me.

That’s not how it works dummy. Some trims are better for the street and average man. The C8 Z and ZR1 are meant to be driven hard on a track. They are race cars that are just barely street legal. There is no room to open up a 750 HP car on the streets. The difference between the Stingray and Z06 is very minimal in a street/stoplight to stoplight setting. Also if something goes wrong your car is likely in the shop for a month as you wait for a new motor. Very few GM certified techs out there that know how to work on a Z or ZR1.
@@GinNBoost Yet 99.9% of Corvettes never see a race track and they aren’t race cars they are super cars. Very few would ever be in a race on a track as well. They are enthusiasts vehicles from GM. My points and opinion still remains that it’s an odd situation for GM to have so many trims of their best sports car.
@@WindyCity1992 I agree, however they don’t make vehicles for the masses like GM does. Most typically when your cars have the same power plant they offer special edition cosmetics etc not a completely different power plant spec in those special trims of the same sports car. The problem I have with the lesser trims and the reason I wouldn’t buy one, is that it makes them less special as a corvette to me personally. Cars built for the masses like the Camaro, Corvette, Mustang, Challenger, Chargers you see them everywhere and unless you have the top trim you will look like regular traffic. No one’s looking twice at them and only enthusiasts notice if you are in a top trim of those “dime a dozen” American models. I like vehicles I can drive and not see other models of the same car on every street corner. If I’m throwing down $150-200k for a vehicle it’s not going to be on a Chevy Corvette. I’m quite sure the majority of people would agree. 🧐

I really love how they strayed away from the Ferrari-esque design they used to sort of have. The sharper and aggressive body really goes well with the sound and soul of the car.
But only remotely resembling a Vette anymore..
