I've been catching squid in South Australia since I was a kid in the 1960's. Back then it was a jag with a peeled potato on it. Then the solid coloured plastic ones came in, then the jigs we know of today. It's not rocket science, you don't need fancy rods and reels, just any light action rod will do

Is Egi a brand name, I have a jig from the Yamashita brand which says Egi-Oh Live. I thought the 'Oh' stood for - Oh my god that was expensive
