Great install video. However, with all that work to remove the dash and run the wires and all, i'd rather just upgrade the head unit. Most aftermarket head units today are much better quality than the oem. They come with apple car play/android auto built in. You can buy the proper harnesses to intrigate with your oem functions (swc, back up cam, etc). Just feel like that would be more worth while.

*Is it worth the very high price at $649? 😱 Wouldn’t it be better to simply install a new 2020 head unit that comes with the CarPlay already - if compatible?*
The harness is different and the new radio is much more expensive

You can use the original mic from the factory with our new kits
Any reason this wouldn't work with the OEM phone mic? The install is super clean....expect for that microphone. Also, what happens with steering wheel controls and the OEM tune/volume knobs? Are they still functional even when using Carplay? Do the OEM radio side buttons still serve any function?
We did request to have the OEM phone mic used instead of the aftermarket one. They said more R&D time is needed. As such V2 in the future if there will be a V2 may incorporate the OEM mic. While in Carplay mode volume control on steering wheel control will work, however the other buttons related to the radio such as SEEK and MODE will not work. OEM tune knob will not work and OEM volume knob will work. However, if you do not need the turn by turn voice from navigation and prefer to use music from your factory radio mode, you may do so and all your steering wheel controls will work as normal. You will just not be able to see the OEM radio screen functions while in Carplay mode. OEM Radio side buttons will serve a function while being in OEM Radio mode.

How can i upgrade Apple CarPlay ?
You may upgrade to Apple Carplay with this new kit. Both smartphone Mirroring and Apple Carplay will be able to be installed together. You will however need a RCA selector such as:

Great video! I noticed in the comments that there are upgrades of your product that are released periodically. That being said, has there been an update that allows wireless connectivity via bluetooth to enable the Apple CarPlay (2018 4 Runner)?

If I were to buy this now could I upgrade it to wireless when the wireless option releases later this year or will I have to buy a whole new connect interface that has wireless on it?

I also have the Beat Sonic mirroring system installed in my 2014 4Runner Limited. Is the video quality of waze the same with this Apple CarPlay system as it is with the mirror system or is it a little better? Also is there a better switching method option than the one you previously posted between the 2 systems. It looks like it would be difficult to manually install and press the switch.
The Quality is only slightly better but very comparable to our mirroring system. At the moment, AUX audio switcher is the best solution to switch between the smartphone mirroring and Carplay system. To switch between the Carplay and factory screen, double pressing the power button , and now also selecting the AUX source will switch into Carplay mode as well.
Beat-Sonic, Do I also need the RCA switcher for the systems to work together? I was more worried about having to hit that manual toggle switch.
@@kevindelaney9444 Yes, you will need the RCA Audio switcher only. Best case scenario is to find a switcher that automatically changes when a new signal is detected. That is the item we are searching for now...
Man cool design to keep the factory unit but for maybe $100 more I could just get the T9 unit

Has the OEM Mic question been addressed. A previous comment from yall had said there was a chance in the V2 that yall would be able to potentially use the OEM mic instead of having to add the other. Would much rather use OEM mic to avoid the install of the other. Thanks!
Our current kits are utilizing the oem mic. We have made the change shortly after releasing this video

Will Apple CarPlay automatically connect
via Bluetooth when you get in the car and start it up? Or do you have to do the auxiliary mode/double tap thing every time?
You will have to do the aux/ double tap to get into carplay mode

Reverse camera will continue to function normally even while using carplay!

Why doesn't it work with the existing factory mic?
Since it's an after market product being interfaced to the factory components unfortunately a new mic has to be installed.
Does the steering controls now work with this on the 4runner?
