    Great info here, MY Sago has some frond damage on the ends of the fronds. It was just bought from a Big Box store and I put in my greenhouse and it has seen colder temps in that Greenhouse than it had at the store I bought it from, BUT, it has NOT seen temps below freezing, so well within it's hardiness zone. My heat source turns on when it goes below 35F, and that heat source is incandescent lights inside my mini shelter inside my main greenhouse. I was wondering IF those lights hadn't fried out my Sago, BUT, it has been said to LOVE heat. I watered it and maybe the soil was too dry? It IS still winter Feb 1st, so I do NOT want to water TOO much. I've seen some videos say they LOVE to be "Potbound" and others say that when the roots get too crowded, to repot them. Mine has just been moved to whole different area, so, light intensity, and temperature is different, so maybe THAT is why it has some damage on the ends of the fronds?

    You've given me hope that I can save my Sago plant that I have been growing indoors. It did not like the winter months and now I have 4 yellow leaves that I can cut back and hopefully new ones will grow. I will clip the leaves and re-pot in new soil. Fingers crossed!
    Also, how long did it take from the time you clipped the leaves to when the 5 new leaves grew in?

    I've got a very big cycas. The 30 or so leaves went yellow & brown about 2 years ago - part of the leaves is still green, so it's still alive ok. But there are no signs of new ones coming from the centre - only very sharp spikes. It's been like that for 2 years. Are you saying I should just cut them all off & I'll get new growth?

    The same thing happened to my plant , new leaves also dried up just few days after they grew . I was told it was infected by some pest . After due care and a wait of around 6 to 8 month my plant have now grown new leaves but now the Leaves r growing from 2 areas of the codex , there r 3 to 5 leaves in both the areas ,is this normal? Can I propagate when 2 set of leaves grow from same codex?

    What do I do if the last leaf has just died off but the roots still look healthy but no new growth is coming out? Theres no dirt or any debris in the center where the leaves come out, it doesnt look like its rotting, ive been letting it dry out more in between waterings. I dont want it to die but I dont know where to go from here for new growth. I set it outside for bright light but undirect from the sun, theres no pests on it or in the soil that I see, I had already bought it while it was dying and it started looking better but now its last leaf has died with no new growth and im puzzled as to why

    How long till you saw new growth?? I have a sago and the leaves recently turned yellowish-light green. I researched and saw that it was maybe due to lack of Magnesium, so i added Epsom salt to the plant. Now I am sitting back and watching, hoping for a difference, however, after watching yours maybe I should pull it and look at the root system. Thanks for the video!

    My sago did not winter over well at all. The UV light I got didn't work at all. Just put it back outside today and trimmed all of the leaves off at one time (they all looked dead) like an idiot. :( my poor sago probably won't make it. He was 6 yrs old. I hope he comes back to life.

    • @FinnMiaBelle
      @FinnMiaBelle Před 4 lety +1

      LahomaK I’ve seen vidoes here on youtube where they cut all the yellowing leaves off at once and it did just fine. Apparently, this palm is essentially the heartiest of plants aka hard to kill lol. I just rescued a small palm from my local Lowe’s home improvement store, and it is all dry and yellowing. I don’t know if it needs to be trimmed, or if it wasn’t watered periodically enough. I think I’m going to trim him and start fertilizing in a week or so. I don’t get that much light, so I hope the little I do get is enough for this little guy. Good luck to your little palm! 😁
