There’s a quiet, meditative quality that imbues your photographs.
I think it’s interesting that you’re working similar but different projects in Morro Bay and the Outer Banks. And then toss in your LA freeways…
Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing them.

😂😂😂😂😂😂
off season OBX is so much more the vibe then peak summer. I love it there in Fall or spring. You really feel the culture, history and get the low down from the locals.
Absolutely stunning work, my goodness. Really really enjoyed this piece. Thank you for sharing!
Love all of your work but I really love this project of yours in the Outer Banks. I’ve been living on the NC Coast(Holden Beach) with my wife for 18 months now and I’ve been trying my best to put together a body of work to document the seascape/architecture here. We’re moving back home in a year so I’m hoping to have it finished by then.🤞The light out here is just surreal! Cheers Willem!
bottle flip went crazy
Your thoughts about the two pool by the shore photos resonates. In many situations where there are bright, interesting colors in the scene I’ve found bright, clear sky early to mid-afternoon light makes for the most engaging photos, just like this one. Especially in early spring or late fall when the low sun really brings out the contrast in the smallest shadows. This whole series is beautiful. 🙏✌️
Wow, wow, wow! The photos in this vlog are absolutely stunning! Incredible work Willem!!
These vlogs are always such a treat! Its amazing how I was impressed with every single photo
I really love how your photography has been evolving over the years. I can't wait for people finally appearing as dominant elements in your beatyfully lit compositions.
Excellent work! Building houses on the seaside, INSANE!
Beautiful! Just f’in beautiful!! Every time I see one of your OBX vids, my heart longs to be back down there, rather than being here in Northern Virginia. Thankfully, I’m headed back down to Nags Head next week, and I ALWAYS have stayed at the Sea Foam (top floor facing the ocean) because I’m thats just my thing, unless I’m hanging for a night or or more on Ocracoke. I’m particularly excited about this coming trip because it’ll be the first time shooting film there, so I’ve got a lot of spots I want to revisit to capture with my recently acquired Contax G2. BTW, love all the shots in your vid. That one of the two houses on the waterline in Rodanthe is particularly awesome, especially since the one on the left has the sign stating ‘Front Row Seat’! Doesn’t get much more front row than that scene!
I’m just about an hour north of there. My parents had a place in Kill Devil Hills back in the 80s. My plan is to move there permanently in the next 5 years.
It’s definitely a different place than it was 40 years ago, but it still has a special place in my heart.
Such a beautiful video. Your photos and the vibe of the video brought back memories of family vacations on the Outerbanks in the 1960’s. We would stay in quaint little motorcourt motels nestled in the dunes Buxton. Sure looks different now shaped by decades of powerful storms. Thanks for the memories.
Absolutely love your laid back vibe of your videos besides seeing fantastic photography 👏🏻
...and I fully agree on how intriguing the photos of Sugimoto are 🖤
just amazing. couldn't agree more with that photo of the still ocean water. just breathtaking as usual!
Lovely photos as always, Willem. Just trying to imagine what a series of photos taken by you off-season at the Belgian coast might look like. 🙂
There goes willem absolutely at it again making incredible long term work
Such nice work. Thank you for continuing to share it. It is inspiring and makes me want to shoot more!
that tip of lid glowing just nice love it
Especially in the second half of your video are some insanely nice photographs, very athmospheric!
im from Greensboro, NC and my folks retired to Colington Island, near the Wright Brother's monument during the pandemic. They have some contacts that retired there, boat builders and commercial fishermen. I'm so lucky I get to visit the OBX during all seasons, I've been hunting in the sound, fished underneath the bridges for sheephead (DELICIOUS!), and I've heard the military bombing in Dare county (there's a bomb range there), It's an incredible place, expensive, but incredible. There's a massive hotrod car show that comes to Kill Devil Hills annually and you see amazing rides everywhere. And all the old timers that live there say Andy Griffith was an asshole!
Mr. Willem, you are a dang inspiration. Beautiful images
Nice!! I always look forward to your inspiring Outer Banks videos. Your work moved me to visit and photograph the Outer Banks for the first time in close to 15 years last month..
Your videos are always so peaceful and calming. Beautiful shots as well!
Beautiful film, beautiful light and very beautiful black and white photos, also beautiful music Willem 👍👍😘
Hi Willem, if you don't know his work, check out John Divola's 'Zuma' series from 1977-78. Derelict buildings by the sea, shot with flash. Incredible. I would guess right up your street.
New video for my weekend! Stoked. Super inspired by this and waiting on my first medium format camera to arrive any day now.
I literally look forward to this video every year
Beautiful, inspirational work Willem. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful work..
Images are ++++++, incredible Willem, most inspirational!
Such a peaceful recap of the weekend. Cant wait for the next one! Also Jimmy if you’re reading this please send your film to the lab 😂
Wonderful Video. I think you would enjoy a trip to the Florida Keyes. It's very similar to the Outer Banks and yet, at the same time, entirely different.
the sky photos are absolutely insane
these are stunning images. you're going crazy
"In this case black & white color"😂 great video and photos!

we thank you for your service willem
hey, what nice locations...really like the style of your images, especially the quietness they transport. Is there a special way how you meter for film? or any tip to some guy searching for metering for film?
Greetings from Berlin
So nice Willem 👌
マミヤ7、自分も持ってます。いいカメラですね
Hopefully going there when I graduate 🤞
Beautiful, as always!

Yes! I’ve been waiting for you to drop 😭🔥
amazing pictures
You should peep Meyerowitz's book "Between the Dog and the Wolf." (if you haven't already.)
3:23 is *chefs kiss*
3:07 nice shot
Watching this 10 miles from David Hockney's birthplace!
Such a visually striking location. Were those houses purposefully built in the ocean, or is it just due to changing tide/sea level that they find themselves there? - it's kind of crazy to me. Maintenance would be a nightmare. They certainly make for beautiful photographs though.
If you fly in through RDU and are felling a burger, Char-grill on Hillsborough St has been a staple since 1959.
Sadly it’s getting torn down in the eventual future for a new development 😢
Would be amazing to interview Joel Meyerowitch for the channel about this area and compare thoughts
Sternfeld?
@@WillemVerb oops yes!
Your thumbnail looks like the dood from New York that quizzes people on music and city history.
gophers hat ftw
I know the outer banks is small but have you came across the Cemetary that sits in the sand on the sound in Salvo?

Hi Willem, are you by any chance from Dutch origin ? Loved your Porsche video. Greetings from The Netherlands. Jaap (Jack) Becker, Porsche 964 Cabrio owner and analog photographer.
03:00 between the dog and the wolf
where is the yellow jacket from? it's very cool😎
Awesome experience. Do you record the video footage on an iphone? 🌟
Lovely photos, Willem. Are these darkroom prints or Flextight scans?
This one made me want to travel so bad.. Feel like there's nothing left to shoot where I am haha.
There is always something to shoot.
What is the song that plays at 5:30? Couldn't find anything in the description. Curious about where you find the music for your videos in general.
I notice you sometimes compose with lines going directly Into the corner of the frame. Is that intentional? I usually go for that in my work and other elements like it but I’ve heard some people discourage details like that which make it look like the photo was too thought out. Guess it’s different kinds of photography idk
Sorry if I missed it, but what film stock are you using for most of these? Portra?
nice
ANYONE WANNA TALK ABOUT HOW YOKED THAT DOG WAS?!?!?!?
What are issues with the mamiya 7?
Willem Outer Verbeenks?
Which film stocks did you use on this shoot?
Do people live in the houses on the beach? 6:41
