  • Hello and welcome to Sunset Seekers! We are so very honored that you stopped by to check out this video! The purpose of this video is to give you a tour of this awesome little travel trailer made by Grand Design! It's a 17MKE model and one of the nicest and most well-equipped travel trailers that we have ever seen in this class and weight range!
The 17MKE is 21 feet long and has a dry weight of just over 4700 pounds so you can tow this rig with just about anything (but a half ton pickup truck is still your best option for towing this trailer in our opinion)!
This won't be a very lengthy tour where we cover the outside and inside in great detail but just a brief look at the some of the highlights that this rig has to offer!!
If you are new to RV's or you find yourself in the market for a new RV--let me just tell you that you should definitely consider putting Grand Design on your list. I'm not a spokesman for Grand Design, I don't actually even own a Grand Design RV (although my next upgrade just might be). Grand Design has a reputation for higher build quality and you'll find certain things that come standard on a Grand Design that you won't find on every RV of comparable class and size!
We have toured literally hundreds of RVs over the years and we can tell you from personal experience that the Grand Design RVs that we have toured have always lived up to that reputation! The 17 MKE is no exception! This little trailer is loaded with extras that would be hard to find on a travel trailer of this size, starting with an electric tongue jack, Lippert Schwintex Slide System, a powered awning that covers almost the entire length of the rig, Goodyear Endurance tires on alloy rims, 2--20 pound propane tanks, theater seating with heat and massage, loads of counter space, and so much more!!
    Thank you for watching!!

My wife and purchased a 2022 17MKE in April. We researched online as well as visited dealers for a year prior to making our decision. Hands down, this unit is the best bang for the size! We wanted the smallest unit possible with certain amenities and this was definitely it. Every murphy bed coach we looked at felt cheap and the seating was uncomfortable, but this Grand Design was VERY well made, the couch was very nice, and the murphy bed configuration was easy to convert. We have gone on 4 camping trips and 1000 miles so far and are so happy about our purchase. Our tow vehicle is a Toyota Tundra and it pulls this unit fully loaded with zero issues.

We purchased this same one this year and love it! First TT we've owned. Others were Class C until someone sawed off the CC twice in three months. We just "hook and book" with this one. I have a 5.3 liter 1/2 ton pick up. 5.7 L would be better but the 5.3 does just fine. Backing in has been a challenge, but with several practice runs I;'m getting better. A/C is fantastic. Refrig has boondock capability while traveling down the road to keep freezer stuff frozen for hours. We drove for 11 hrs straight and had no problems with freezer nor fridge keep things fresh and frozen. Dual axle with Endurance tires (No china bombs). 20# propane are easy to refill. The dial on the tanks indicate red or green when to fill. Empty one then flip the dial to the other tank for green. Up front storage holds a lot of gear plus that helps to keep the sway down as well. We keep the potable water tanks low until we get to the site to fill or use local water. Solid build.

Good video. One nice addition would be to replace the frosted door window with a Lippert Components Thin Shade Complete Window Kit. This will allow a clear view of your camp side during the day, but still allow you to close the integrated shade at night. I also think it looks nicer from the outside since the window is tinted dark and it matches the other windows.
