    BALANCING your voice - it's one of the most common things singers come to me asking about. Today's singing workout is a set of exercises to help you find balance throughout your range - most importantly in that middle section of your voice, where some singers consider their "mix voice." All exercises, no talking :)
    Higher singers, stick with my octave, lower singers, go ahead and drop the octave. Trust yourself, and if you need to drop out and join back in anywhere, do so! Happy Singing!

    I never knew the "magical secrets" behind these straws (of different sizes). I have been singing tenor (but not there yet!) for 10+ years. A couple of weeks ago "BINGO" I'm able to hit my high note for the 1st time after watching and mimicking a straw training exercises (in youtube). Since I have not stopped singing every moment and my wife loves my voice (never before).

      Hi Iris! You can use any straw in the meantime, but once you are able to order the Singing / Straw you will notice how the different size diameters gives you more resistance as you sing (which is where the magic happens!). Let us know how it goes! :)

    • @SingingStraw

      Something to consider with mucus is how hydrated you are - be sure to get lots of water in throughout the day! If it still persists, see if you can find a highly trained vocal coach to work with you 1-1 (my studio Songbirdsf.com does free intro lessons!)

    Question: Is it ok to hold the straw between your teeth (as well as your lips) in order to vocalize with the straw in a hands-free way if you need to be doing something else with your hands (like driving)? Or is this not recommended because it can cause tension in the jaw or something?

    When I sing higher notes through the straw I notice that there's less airflow than when I'm singing lower notes. Can someone tell me what this means?

    • @SingingStraw
      @SingingStraw  Před rokem +1

      What's interesting about higher notes is that we do need a lot of air pressure but not necessarily lots and lots of air volume. So it's really about finding enough airflow to get strong air pressure and support without overblowing. The straw helps find this sweet spot! So in other words, keep on doing what you're doing - you're on the right track!

    Hello, i have a problem with my voice which i can not understand. I went to ENT too and he said nothing wrong can be seen other than allergy but my voice is not clear and it is like coming from deep and sometimes it changes fastly in the same sentence like i am in puberty. It affects me a lot that can't speak in public easily because i don't know how my voice will be. I was always a silent and shy child maybe it effected my voice too. I can't raise my voice and have hard times in crowded places to make myself heard. If i do this exercise will it help my speaking voice too? • @jasonmedley2524
      @jasonmedley2524 Před 3 lety

      Don't ever "push". You're just hurting your voice by doing that. The sound will come the stronger you get. I'm not a voice coach but you might need to use two straws? You should follow Eric Arceneaux on CZcams and Instagram, as well.

    • @CJayCR
      @CJayCR Před 3 lety

      Try phonating without the straw and then without stopping the sound close your oral seal around it. It’s definitely a little tricky to separate the doing of singing from the doing of it going through the straw. Being specific about what your vowel shape is also helps,

    I have a singing straw, but I haven't been using it for a few months now. I only sing for fun. Recently I noticed that my higher notes are breathy and hoarse and mostly, I can't even reach the notes...I literally sound like a wounded dog. I haven't been sick in a long time, but I sound like I'm getting over a cold or something. Is it safe to continue to warm up with the straw and keep trying to see if it goes away or am I damaging my voice further by trying?

Its not criticism at all as I value this method because it is effective immediately. It takes the weight and strain off my vocal cords and is strengthening them. Thank you. Love the instruction but please slow it down
