- ►Audi's first-generation Q7 is a competent four-wheel-drive SUV suited for long trips and towing. As a new owner, simple maintenance goes a long way, including a front differential fluid replacement. The front differential splits the power coming from the transfer case across the front axle. A series of gears and lubricating oil manage that process, and over time, the oil will wear out.
Engine and transmission oil replacements get all the attention, but differential fluid changes are also required. The gears inside a differential are under significant stress from pulling the vehicle's weight as they drive it forward and need good oil to perform without any risk of damage. The replacement process is nearly as simple as any other oil change you might have to make, and the results will go a long way for the health of your Q7.
Follow along as Mike Hidalgo, FCP Euro's Professional DIY'er, takes on a front differential fluid replacement on an Audi Q7.

Yes, they are beautiful and staying classy to these day.
Need to show how to change the b8 s4 diff fluid
Nice video do you know what oil to put in a4 1.8 t quattro 2001 front differential?
Thanks
How do we know when a differential is going bad or needs a fluid change?
I'm due for this service on my 2012. Bought it a year ago with 160km and not sure if this service was done. This video is making me strongly consider doing this myself with the help of your great instructions. My only concern is I don't have the tools and would have to rent a lift. Would these costs make it worth the dyi or is the dealership that much more expensive. Not Likely to keep the tools nor the car to perform the service again.
You don’t need any lifts for this job. Just get a couple of drive on plastic or metal ramps. Four would be even better but not necessary. Cheap DIY job because the rest of the tools are just basic stuff you should already have anyways. Also not necessary to get VW/Audi fluid as any good, synthetic gear lube will do.
Can you please post p/n's and links for the fill plugs? I can't find them on your website specific for Audi Q7 (Porsche and BWM come up). Thanks!
Hi Jeff, that will be linked for you here!

Easy job to do but i will say Differential fluid smells soo bad
Need to start the engine and put the transmission in all posn during 10 sec ( P,N,D,R) and then check the level again
This is the front differential, not transmission.
How much oil did you fill in ?
He tells you in the video, did you watch it
