I was in his office in March(?) 68 when his box of Gospel Singer arrived. We used to stand outside of his office in Davie FL smoking cigarettes and talking. I was out of the service like him and he was like a big brother to me trying to get acclimated to ice-cream civilian life after almost four years in Navy. I was 21 when I met him We both left Broward Junior at the same time, he to UF, me to FSU. Never saw him again I never wrote anything, either. He was a funny, excited guy.

I live about 5 miles from the Bacon county line where Mr. Crews is from.First saw him on Wrong Eyed Jesus twenty years ago.I liked him then but had no idea what a heavyweight in terms of writing that he was.Hes the type of rebel outsider Bacon Co will never hail as it's most noteworthy native son but they really should.
Good lord wish I'd met him. Wrote a whole shit ton of articles on all these really great, nutty people who dogfight and rob liquor stores and make meth just because I read one article he wrote on cockfighting. I just started thinking "This guy talks about really great people that everyone else ignores because they do something that isn't approved of". I'd met a lot of people like that so I started writing em too. He's become a very important figure in my writing and in my life in general.
