    Welcome to 'Chess Openings: Winning with the King's Indian Defence'. This comprehensive course is designed to equip you with the knowledge, strategies, and insights needed to turn the King's Indian Defence (KID) into a formidable weapon in your chess arsenal.
    The King's Indian defense can be used as a "system" or "setup" opening against anything except 1. e4 - e.g. 1. d4 1. c4 1. Nf3 can be reacted to with a King's Indian setup.
    Throughout the course, we'll delve into the secrets of this opening, which has been the preferred choice of numerous World Chess Champions like Mikhail Tal, Bobby Fischer, Garry Kasparov, and Ding Liren.
    The course begins with an introduction to the KID and a discussion of its strengths and strategies. We'll explore the accuracy vs surprise quadrant matrix, which will allow you to optimize your gameplay in real-time, keeping your opponents guessing. You'll be introduced to the art of planning in chess, along with the benefits of being a dynamic player.
    We'll take a deep dive into the annotated games, drawing lessons from classic games and modern contests alike. You'll learn the importance of prioritizing King safety, an essential skill in handling KID positions. We'll study key inspirational moves and explore the beautiful dynamic games of the current World Chess Champion, Ding Liren.
    We also examine the different variations of the KID, such as the Classical Variation, Saemich Variation, Averbach Variation, Four Pawns Attack, and different Fianchetto Variations. Each of these sections contains a detailed analysis of different positions, tactical themes, and strategies specific to that variation.
    This course is not just about learning moves; it's about understanding the underlying principles and ideas. It's about knowing when to be aggressive, when to sacrifice material for initiative, and how to continuously pose problems for your opponent.
    This course is perfect for intermediate and advanced players looking to improve their understanding of the KID and those wishing to add a dynamic, aggressive, and proven weapon to their opening repertoire. Whether you're an ambitious club player or a budding chess enthusiast, 'Winning with the King's Indian Defence' will provide you with a solid foundation and deeper understanding of one of the most exciting openings in chess.

    Signed up and looking forward to it. I noticed that one of the games you played against an ex colleague - Phil Bonafont, so that’ll be cool to see! Keep up the great work - I can’t believe you don’t have more subscribers.

      Miss the streams, and Tryfon's themed streams. So good.
      OTOH my Caro-Kann is a real mess, and I'm trapped around 1000 at Lichess. I do need a course, any course. This might be it.

    This seems like such a complete course, I always like to investigate why the sidelines aren’t chosen as often and this seems like a dream course to understand the KID fully

      Would you say that you’ve engine checked most of the main recommendations? Or does it rely on practical aspects instead of objective evaluation?

    • @kingscrusher
      @kingscrusher  Před 9 měsíci +2

      . @garudapurachess Yes it is all engine checked and you can use the Surprise vs Accuracy evaluations for those more favoured by engines. Engines seem to prefer the Glek system as an example to the main line with Nc6 - Cheers, K

    Enjoying the course, well done! I concur that Kingscrusher's streams are sorely missed. I suppose there's the Banter Blitz playlist for those who really "need a fix"

    Enjoying your principles course KC. Any interest on doing a kings gambit course for white pieces. Its fun to play

      Yep, I was thinking of "A fun lover's guide to the King's gambit" at some point. Cheers, K

    Hi Kingscrusher I'm a mediocre player but I made a sort of semi kan sicilian where sharp variations come from an open kan sicilian except move 4 black plays Qh4 and it becomes difficult to defend the e4 pawn and the d4 knight without concessions. Been watching the show on and off since like 2010 or before. With the opening hopefully I haven't refuted the open sicilian but it's possible I just like to make openings

    What is the recommended rating for this course? Also does it cover white choosing to transpose to the pirc, or is that a different topic? Thanks.

    • @kingscrusher
      @kingscrusher  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The Pirc for me is a hugely different opening and particularly risky vs 1.e4. I realise on CZcams there are some recommendations for 1.d4 g6 but this does invite 2.e4 - and the Pirc/Modern I find a little suspect in general. The King's Indian is for when you are faced with 1.d4 1.c4 or 1.Nf3 - it has its own major ideas and objectively in my view is sounder to the Pirc/Modern. Cheers, K
