yes, the effect of both is kind of similar on dopamine, but the addiction is way different. Nicotine addiction is crazy. It's not a "habit" as they say, it's one of the strongest addictions out there

But highly addictive of course. And I've struggled with quitting caffeine even so probably trying nicotine is a bad idea
@@unknownkingdom Yup, it makes me very energetic and focused, I have anxiety and depression problems since childhood and I menaged my sleepiness throughout the day with caffein from green tee and than yerba mate, but that drove me into the psychiatric hospital with a mental break. Since than I cannot drink more than one weak tea a day, because I'm getting nervous shivers, but now I'm so sleepy and unproductive... So I tried to vape and look how it's gonna work and I have to say, for me it works bonkers. I'm focused as hell, at least for my standards and go through a normal working day without problems and than I have even energy to excercise, which is amazing. But I don't want to damage my loungs in the long run, so I'm gonna try a nicotine gum up tommorow and see if it also works. That's why I'm here, to find out if you get the same kind o buzz from a nicotine in a gum. @@wlaba272 I've never smoked or vaped. 5 years ago I decided to try nicorette mini lossanges to help me do low carb and stay off sugar. I started small, with half a lossange only when I craved sugar. It definitely helped and I felt great for a while, but 5 years later I'm using about 20 a day and feel horrible. Tired all the time, never feel rested even with a good night if sleep, etc. I am SO sorry I ever started. Please be careful, and really think twice about starting this powerful, but legal, drug. That's all I can say. I'm watching videos tonight to get my motivation going to stop. Yes it felt great for about the first year or two, but I have constant anxiety that has been getting far worse the past two years. And there is really no other cause so I know it's the nicorette. I was in great shape 5 years ago. P90x. Flying all over the country for work, etc. Now I get panic attacks just driving 15 minutes from home. Nicotine releases adrenaline as well as dopamine so it actually wears down your stress response capabilities. Best of luck and hope this helps you or anyone else reading this.
I feel that moderation is key. Im a non-smoker and use it sometimes as a nootropic. Works fine. If I started using it daily, that’s when I’m sure it can become a problem (literally like anything else in life).

Does it ages you like vaping does? I tried vaping and didn't like it. I'd like to try it out. Thanks

Even if I stay on nicotine gum for years (not that I plan to), I'm so happy now to stop smoking, I felt it's effects on me and I'm already feeling better not putting all those combusted chemicals into my body.
Nicorette is expensive as hell too, around 50 dollars for 100-piece box. I chewed it for 2 years. The cost was not much cheaper than smoking, but my health dramatically improved.
That's why you use the store brand that it half the price.
nicotine gum has always been a ripoff.
My uncle chewed the walgreens store brand gum for nearly a decade because it was a fraction of the cost
Its substituting one addiction for another. Like thats a bad thing????? Its getting off of one very bad habit(smoking) and trading it for a less harmful habit( nicotine gum) there acting like theres no difference between smoking and chewing nicotine gum.
It is substituting one addiction for another, but it's actually substituting one harmful addiction for a non-harmful addiction. Gum is generally to some level toxic but not any more than regular chewing gum if it even is more harmful at all. And nicotine has been shown to be beneficial to the brain and is a potent nootropic, along with having neuroprotective benefits. It's not harmful on its own and has never been proven to be.

I'm curious how these doctors feel about prescription drugs that are addictive. Because most of them have extremely harsh withdrawals.
I was abused caffiene for a long time, despite knowing I was very sensitive to stimulants of any kind. It was only when I decided to cut it off that I realised how much I depended on it. I got headaches, lost the ability to concentrate, became irritable, anxious and, worst of all, severely depressed. I had initially quit caffiene to regain my appetite but it backfired because depression shrunk it even more. DON'T RELY ON STIMULANTS FOR ENERGY. IT'S NOT WORTH THE DAMAGE. Been a smoker for over 10 years and decided to use the gum to stop. I popped a 4gm piece of gum and about 30 minutes into it I realized the dosage was too much. Those things are strong, don't underestimate them. I decided it would be best to bite into a piece to split the dosage into two and would only have 1 whole piece of gum, 4mg, throughout the entire day. I also decided I would try to quit completely during my first gum pack (20 pieces) because extending the gum usage would be too risky. Only 12 days free of smoke and 5 days free of nicotine gum, but I'm holding on strong. People should not consume any form of nicotine recreationally as it is extremely addictive. The chemical nicotine itself is dangerous in large amounts but in very small amounts it's no more dangerous than caffeine but it is addictive but the same can be said for caffeine ...... Imagine how many people would lose their minds if the media and everybody went after coffee started taxing it in a higher rate and outlawing it's consumption in public
As well as large amounts. What about inhaling nicotine into the lungs is that bad ?
How much nicotine would they have to take. For it to become bad ?

Not a doctor, but I'd say until you feel like you've had enough, and if you never feel that way, what's better? Nicotine gum? or Cigarettes? The gum you have Nicotine, MAYBE aspartame. Nicotine isn't a known carcinogen, I'm not 100% sure about aspartame. Or cigarettes, which has 6000+ unhealthy chemicals, and 70+ WELL known carcinogens, PLUS the gunky tar.
nicotine is not "safe" no matter how you take it ...but orally absorbed has to be way SAFER than smoking the crap! STILL nicotine in blood which might cause high BP and heart issues etc...so not generally NOT"safe" but relatively safe for healthy individual without heart and BP problem ....Ask your doctor

I quit smoking years ago… like 7 years ago. I distance run now, workout… whole foods diet, little to 0 caffeine. I’m quite healthy.
But let me tell you, there is no goddamn pleasure like busting open a pack of nicotine gum. People just have an aversion to nicotine, but calm down. Nicotine itself isn’t bad for you… addictive isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and it’s a spectrum… smoking is bad, vaping is bad, but nicotine itself?

Failed to answer the question though, we know nicotine is an addictive drug but is it harmful/safe to use for your body if you chew it or perhaps use a patch. Nicotine is a cognitive booster so a proper answer would've been preferred instead of your basic sayings and a little story to go along with it.
It would be nicer if the side effects were explained rather than stated. Everything said here was common knowledge rather which is surprising coming from doctors considering that you would expect the “experts” to provide a deeper understanding. Guess a classic case of going to a gp lol

Nicotine by itself isolated is actually rather harmless.. smoking is harmful because of carbon monoxide and many other chemicals that affect the body. Nicotine itself has a low-moderate effect on blood pressure and does not cause cancers..
My father was a cardiologist and now he is a independent medical scientist semi retired.
that's true, but it's addictive as hell
Quit smoking with nicotine toothpicks. Found that I was able to use the toothpicks in moderation after 2-3 weeks, even did a two day reset with zero nicotine. It seems the maois in tobacco paired with the nicotine & ammonia is the culprit in the insidious addiction, not nicotine in and of itself, which to me is as addictive as coffee/caffeine. I pair a cup of black tea with 3mg of nicotine for getting the gears going in the morning (great nootropic). It does not disrupt sleep at this amount. The effects of the nicotine are gone in one to two hours, meaning your blood flow is normal 90%+ of the time. Nicotine in this moderate amount can help prevent colon cancer and dementia without any negative health effects.
Nicotine gum has a very low addictive potential for non smokers, the problem is that it’s a vaso constrictor, and so crewing regularly is associated with poor bone health, but how much is safe is apparently not something they know about
Nicotine has positive affects on your brain

This is my first time trying Nicorette gum and I do not like it at all I do not like medicine that make my heart race I think it's actually horrible I'm trying to quit smoking I've been smoking over 30 years now but I would just go cold turkey without using Nicorette patches
How are you?🙏🏻
Nicotine is so underrated...its a phenomenal stimulate...caffeine too...the chit to stay away from is SUGAR
Im not smoker I smelt this and I've been diziness thats harm for health
Them: "It's super addictive"
Also them: "Just stop taking it after three months"
My advice guys. Use nicotine gum about 2 weeks until fairly getting rid of the habit. After that use Bupropion about 2 or 3 weeks. There you go. Now you are free to go. Thank me later.
These experts didn’t even grasp the question. C’mon
Bet they all drink coffee
Im guessing they dont prescribe addictive medication.... right?
It makes me really tired and sleepy
Same like ur mom
Do you have ADHD? Stimulants can make us sleepy and more level headed.
So no caffeine either?
These doctors would give a completely different breakdown after more research has been done
I honestly can't take anyone's opinion (even a doctors) of addiction seriously unless they have experienced it first hand. It's easy to say "well it's all nicotine you should just never do it" but if you're trying to quit smoking or vaping, both which have adverse affects outside of the nicotine itself, then you should not fear being judged by people who frankly don't get it.
As someone who spends most of my weeks researching these issues this was a very 'Tabloid' piece. I suggest people search quality information. Try Huberman, who says one of the Nobel Prize winners he knows uses Nicotine gum regularly. Travis, as for you?? You're more than this show . .
How harmful is it compared to ADHD medications? Serious question, I feel like dog shit on adhd meds
Probably not that harmful studies have shown nicotine is not nearly as addictive as people think in isolation. As far as ADHD goes I've heard of studies showing positive results in reducing symptoms, but if its to treat your ADHD I'd consult a doctor. However its not really dangerous so you can always self experiment.
