  • On this episode of People's Party, Talib Kweli and Jasmin Leigh sit down with rapper, entrepreneur, and very-honest-motherf*cker, The Game. Right away the trio dives into the deep end, with a wide-ranging conversation on gang culture, rap beefs, Nipsey Hussle's legacy, and a possible G-Unit reunion.
Later in the episode, Kweli and The Game talk about their mixtape collaborations, rap reality vs. street life reality, and BlackLivesMatter. Throughout the interview, The Game is the same man you hear on the track: unflinchingly honest and fearlessly raw. No topic is off-limits and stories are told in vivid detail. As one observer at the live taping said, "Damn, listening to him is like a John Woo movie!"

    Interview timing:
3:37 -- The Game opens up about his upbringing and the family dynamic of being raised by two active Crips, both highly intelligent, his mother having college degree.
10:46 -- Talib asks The Game about Compton and the things that set it apart from the rest of the hoods across the country. He also expresses his feelings on people who perpetrate the gangster lifestyle.
15:55 -- Talib asks The Game what classic songs he studied coming up. He talks about introducing his neighborhood to east coast rap, by putting them on to albums like Jay-Z's "Reasonable Doubt."
21:55 -- Jasmin asks Game to list off the emcees he would most like to collaborate with. He talks about the speech he made about passing the West Coast torch to Kendrick Lamar, and shares the story of a recent gang meeting at Mastro's restaurant that resembled something straight out of the Sopranos.
27:54 -- The Game speaks on being a Blood at a high school that was 100% Crip, and having to hide his Bulls gear to avoid getting shot at.
31:43 -- Talib asks Game how he was able to generate such a buzz so early on in his career that created a bidding war over getting him signed by the likes of industry giants like Puff Daddy, Pharrell, Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, Russell Simmons and others.
36:03 -- The Game talks about being the only West Coast rapper releasing mix-tapes during the height of that era and details the dynamics of his working relationship with Dr. Dre,
41:17 -- The Game opens up about his relationship with 50 Cent, how they worked in the studio, the specifics behind their long-time beef. He also tells the vivid story about the New York gunfight between his crew and 50 Cent's crew outside of Hot 97.
49:28 -- Jasmin asks Game about his take on religion and life's purpose.
    58:11 -- Shout out LeBron!
1:13:33 -- The Game tells the story of how he met Nipsey Hussle while driving through Los Angeles. He explains that he was prepared for a gunfight and goes into detail on how Nip thought and operated.
1:22:10 -- The Game speaks on his manager Wack 100's controversial statements about Nipsey, and how they have affected him solely through affiliation. He also tells about Nip's attempts to squash Game's Meek Mill beef.
1:30:37 -- The Game gives his side of the story on the 7.1 million-dollar sexual assault case that stemmed from a contestant on his VH1 reality series, "She's Got Game." Kweli asks if his public statements on the matter added fuel to the fire that led to the judge's final decision.
1:43:43 -- The Game talks Black Lives Matter, and the record "Let Me Know" that he dedicated to Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, and Sandra Bland.
1:52:52 -- The Game opens up about how being a father has changed his outlook on everyday life. He also gives the backstory of his first meeting with Wack 100.

It amazes me I never excepted crying growing up, but the older I get, the more life touches me. Thank you Game for being the type of man that is able to show feelings of empathy, I knew from the very beginning that you were gonna be considered as you of the best. You are honest, right or wrong, and that's character, and something the people want to see, so maybe we can someday imitated it.

Thank Talib Kweli for having him on and letting him speak, something that's rare for an interviewers to see these days. The way he speaks about Kendrick Lamar shows how much of a impact Kendrick has made in hip hop. Strangely Kendrick Lamar's story and skill parallels Lupe Fiasco and a LOT of ways and Lupe doesn't get anywhere remotely close to the same adoration and shine. Either way thanks again Talib. I hope to see Lupe Fiasco on here one day.

Great Interview, Game answered any and every question, I like how he talks about how he has to top each album he puts out, that just shows he puts a good product and music out and respects Hip-Hop/Rap as a whole, people have to understand that Game has paid homage to the Rappers before, currently and after him, he has dedicated many songs too tons of friends, artists, actors, celebs, and spoke on many of the struggles of the world and his environment, he never gets his props, and is madly underrated and hated for the wrong reasons, keep the Westside heartbeat alive Jayceon!

I've seen the Game twice live and I've seen 50 twice live. Hearing the Games stories about that whole situation and how he thinks they could've made billions if they didn't separate......... I just hope they can come together for an album. Hate it or love it and How we do. Talking about songs that are timeless that never got released, I 100% believe that!
