I've watched a Lot of Booktube channels before I started my channel and I have to say your channel is the most realistic and down to earth channel that I visit. No fancy thumbnail, no editing and most importantly, is that I trust your reviews. Because someone that Loves Stephen King's books as much as you do and to say one of his books is a "stinker" tells me that you're for real. Louis L'amour is my favorite Author and I will be the first to tell you that his books get repetitive. I suggest that you change nothing. Add more but no changes are needed. Plus the fact that you take your subscribers recommendations and follow up on it sets you apart from the higher profile Booktubers. Add playlists, and more interactions with your family and or other booktubers? I enjoy your "Why you should read" and "Deep Dive" series. Those are so original. Okay, enough said. Have a good one. -James & Bella!

Thank you James. Appreciate the feedback and kind words. I will continue to be myself and take seriously my subscribers who take time out of their busy days to comment and watch the channel. I also enjoy your channel as well. Cheers to you and Bella!

Great books so far this year. I had never heard of Lawrence Block before finding your channel and now I am super interested in getting into his books. Would you ever consider making a video going over some of your favorite audio books? I would be interested to know what you enjoy and don't like about the narrations.

Thanks and that’s so cool to hear others interested in authors I am talking about. Video on favorite Audible books, I do have a video under Misc Videos playlist , video is titled Favorite Audible Narrators and Books. Maybe try that out, but if you have your eyes on some Audible books outside of what I have I t hat video, let me know and I will check them out and see if I know the narrator. Glad to help out if I can. Have a good holiday!

I've never read J K Rowling's Harry Potter books as I have this gut feeling they are not for me. However, she has written a tremendous 7 book (so far) crime series about a London private investigator called the Cormoran Strike series. They are really good. She uses an author pen name of Robert Galbraith for these. As you said, just more good series than a person can handle.

hello -Great review of your first half of the year. I wanted to ask you about re-reads. I was thinking of holding on to my paperbacks by Baldacci, Flynn, Thor, Child, Cussler, etc. once I read them and possibly re-read the ones I really like ( 4.0 + stars) a few years later. Do you find the second read just as good as the first? How many years do you let go by before you re-read something?

    • @kevintowle9665

Great question Jim. I mentioned in a video a while ago that I had given away a series, Agent Pendergast by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, and wish i would have kept them. I will buy them again, used...even though i am running out of room. I find them great reads. In my opinion, I would keep the ones you love, even if you have read them once or multiple times. For me i can re-read something after about 6-9 months based on how much i read, but with so much out there i want to read, its usually over a year or two before i do a re-read most times, and I do find most of my favorite ones, enjoyable and great. But it can depend on the book itself. For example, if there is a mystery book with a big plot reveal that is the cornerstone of the story, and you know what it is, then the second time through it can be a slight let down, unless the character development is also good, then not so much. I have read the Dark Tower 5 times and still cry during parts of the story. Another way to think about it, Star Wars and Vader telling Luke he was his father...after you see that, then its like you cant un-know it...maybe a poor example, but I guess you know what I mean. I have certain Reacher books I want to re-read and review on the channel and i just read them last year and posted reviews on Facebook before starting the channel...i would totally re-read and review. Baldacci too, although he is another I gave my mass market paperbacks away on. The Winner, 6:20 Man, Absolute Power, John Puller series..etc. Sorry long-winded, but to your question, do I find the second read as good as the first, no, but for some books it certainly is better than most...hope this helps, thanks for the comment, and continued patronage on the channel. Have a great 4th!

@@kevintowle9665 Thanks for the info - I did exactly the same thing with the Preston Child series - read them and donated them out. Now I am buying them again, skipping a few that I didn't care for that much. Small world. Have a great 4th of July weekend. I'll be checking out more of your past reviews and hope you don't mind the communication. It's great finding a channel of someone who reads much of what I read.

Glad to see you don't give out 5's like candy. I just had my 1st 5 star of the year... The Sisters Brothers... Buddy read I did with Austin from Outer World Media.
Sounds like you have a lot of goals... Less time making videos more time reading. Lol No advice as of now... Still to new to notice anything. 😂

Oh I'll let you know if I think of anything. So far I think the channel is great... I would say maybe I would worry about burn out because of how much you put out but each person is different... If you're having fun then keep ripping them out... They aren't overly long so they are perfect for several of them a week.
