@@kevintowle9665 Well I read it. I actually really liked it. I had to remind myself early on that I was reading a book intended for younger audiences and was written a bit like a fairly tale. The imagery that came to my mind was like a Tim Burton movie or the movie Coraline. I can understand your viewpoints and they're super valid. I really think this is one of those books that has to catch you in the right mood. Which is probably why I put off reading it for so long. Here's the cool thing.... one person loves a book and another person doesn't get along with it... we all win because the publishers have to print a lot of different stuff to keep all our weird tastes occupied.

Neil Gaiman is another one of those authors that I feel is not for me. I can't give a reason why since I have never read one of his books but it is just a gut feeling which is usually fairly reliable when it comes to choosing books.
I thought so too, then I read Good Omens and American Gods…very good. But I can understand sticking to your gut!
