Since 25 years the E38 is the most beautiful and elegant car ever. BMW was stupid to build it for just 5 or 6 years.
Nobody needed E65.
It was buid from 1994 to 2001.

I purchased a 2001 E38 in Stahleblau colour last August. It is in very good shape, the interior is pristine and I absolutely love it!
3 weeks ago I got a black on black 2000 E38 740d. I drove it a few times and I put it in a garage to fix all the tiny details.
Thinking about getting one, but I hear a lot of bad thing about reliability, electronics ...etc. How has yours been?
@@phild9140 all 4 window regulators had to be replaced as well as the starter motor but it is 21 years old and has 119000 miles on it so I don't think that is unreasonable. I still like it.

as an E38 owner (beat up though it may be, and though it may be a 95 [I DONT CARE]), I gotta say - I love this video and i want to shake your hand for making it. P.S. I also have an E38 - which I bought in large part because it *looks* like a mini E38 - and which I love too. I love that car more; it utterly has my heart. Probably because I bought it second to the E38, and ten years later.

If only they would've brought the six cylinder e38 to the States. I'm so happy I sold my '01 740 sport before the chain guides went out...
I had issues with M62 in my X5, I still do. The chain guides and VANOS are garbage. The head gasket on one side has most likely died.
That's why I've chosen a 740d. The timing is simple like a one speed bicylce. Separate chains for left, right and oil pump. Camshafts are synchronized together with gears. Everything inside this engine is so thick and heavy duty you won't find anything similar in passenger cars.
