    No conformal coating? I’m the guy who did the walkthrough on the Tooki phone for the Porsche 997.1. Glad to see you’re still in business!

    Great video. I have enjoyed several of yours. My question is about Porsche options. I believe Porsche Park Assist (or whatever they call it) with f/r cameras was an option.... so I assume this car didn't come with it. If that is the case, was adding Porsche park assist with OEM parts not an option for some reason? Or, is this product better (and/or cheaper) that adding the OEM stuff?? How does this product compare to the OEM as far as functionality? Thanks for the videos and how-tos as far as working on 991s.

      @bobbygfl  Před 4 lety +1

      Brian St. Denis thanks! Porsche park assist includes the sensors only which came factory on my car. The reverse camera is an upgrade option. When Porsche installs the camera they use a reverse camera capable pcm unit. So. The option is replace the pcm and buy the factory camera. Very expensive. Or this aftermarket kit which is affordable in comparison. The front camera was a might as well. Annoyingly now all us cars come with a reverse camera standard from what I heard. Like antilock breaks or seatbelts.

    Great video! Quick question--did you have to pop out or cut through any sort of rubber grommet to get access to the taillight from the front of the taillight housing (15:13)? My 2013 C4S has some sort of rubber grommet or sealer plugging that hole.

      @bobbygfl  Před měsícem

      Yes. I had to poke through the wire boot that the headlights go through. Just poked a hole with a screwdriver big enough to be tight against the wire. I believe I did not have to deal with any plug between the cabin and the fender. I can’t remember. I think I just fished it through one of the holes that were in there. I used a flashlight at night to see where light shined through.

    Can you provide a detailed list of what you ordered? Have a 991.1 without back up cam and looking to do this project myself. Info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

      Russell Tuazon you’re best bet is to call Tiago. He’ll remember my order and answer any questions you have. I have kit NTV-KIT749. And camera 6 in the front, camera 9 in the back. Camera 9 is more oem looking. Camera 9 has the ability to be mirrored for forward looking. Good luck! Love this upgrade.

    Great tutorial! I’m now motivated to do the same on my 991.1 cab and trying to visualize the rear camera wiring like you show. I’m only stumped about how to rout the section where you show the wires under the bolt (at 14:14 on your video) to where you feed through the hole at the small removed plug hole (at 15:15). Can you provide a little guidance between these locations? Would be much appreciated. Thanks!

      @bobbygfl  Před 4 lety +2

      Vance Gist sure. If you take the tail light out and remove the wiring plug in the sheet metal, then remove the carpet as I did under the convertible boot and shine a flashlight in the tail light wiring hole you’ll see the light through the hole under the carpet interior side. My point in telling you this is because you’ll see it’s an empty cavity. All you have to do is fish a tape from hole to hole and pull the wire through. Amazingly simple once you have both sides apart. With a slight angle on the fish tape I got it on my first or second try. Good luck!! Hope that helps.

      Thanks! Got the wire snake finally in! It was only difficult because I was apparently trying to use a too flexible nylon wire snake.

    Hi, my car is a manual Cayman 981 and also using the PCM 3.1, I have followed your movie to install the rear camera but when I turn the rear gear, it's not working and cannot showing the visual in the monitor. May I know whether you need plugin an additional wire for providing the signal to third party rear gear kit?

    • @bobbygfl
      @bobbygfl  Před 3 lety

      黃暐昇師傅玄學顧問 I had a problem with mine originally and the manufacturer helped me with the correct wire. In my case it was just the incorrect wire was hooked up triggering the camera.

    So by simply using a metal fish tape, you were able to push the plug completely out? I’ve tried pushing from both sides and nothing has worked.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @bobbygfl
      @bobbygfl  Před rokem

      Yes programming it was a pain I had to call the company and get them to help me walk through the screens. They had me reset some stuff in the programmers menus. I did not included in the video because they have likely corrected this coding. This was one of the first units.

    Hi Bobby, I’m attempting to install a rear camera on my 2012 911 991 cab right now I’m at rear deck drivers side below carpet where the hole is directly behind piston for cab operation. You show a blade fished through in your video, I’ve run into a plug in that hole that appears to pushed in from opposite side. I can’t pull it out and was wondering if I could drill a hole in the plug for access but I’m not sure what is directly behind plug. Any insight would be helpful, thanks Dave

    • @bobbygfl
      @bobbygfl  Před rokem

      If I remember correctly I forced the metal fish rod through the Rubber plug which pulled out when I pulled the wire through. I applied some extra friction tape so the wire would not chafe. Actually maybe I put enough friction tape so that it would block the hole. Electrical tape would work fine too. I’ll rewatch the video and see if it sparks my memory.

    • @bobbygfl
      @bobbygfl  Před rokem

      After watching that section of the video again I’m pretty sure I just pushed the metal snake through the plug. I wouldn’t drill anything I don’t know how you would get a drill in there anyway. If you’re talking about pulling the plug out and drilling a hole through it I don’t think you need to do that as long as you have a rigid metal fish tape like what I used you can just push it through the plug.

    • @davidclayton7810
      @davidclayton7810 Před rokem +1

      For the life of me I couldn’t get that plug out so I went through it, I’m ready to start pulling wire now. Thanks for all your great and informative videos on your porsche upgrades. Dave
