    In many musical numbers like this over the years, you have a fantastic lead singer who sings then stands off to the side while the dance ringers do their number. Not here. Doing the singing and the entire dance number, too? I won't insult her by merely calling that "talent". That's talent + hard work, folks, and the result is outstanding. Bravo!

    Sutton brought a youthful and exuberant energy to this number that I've never seen before. You can tell she's having an absolute blast and her joy is completely contagious. ***** I agree for the most part, but I still have a lot of respect for her. I saw her in Gypsy a few years ago, and I thought she was very well suited for that show. She's been in the business for a long time and her voice is as strong as they come, but she tends to play her roles so over the top that I can never see her as her character; I just see Patti in a wig.

      @isabellk.3114 Před 8 lety +25

      +prettymonsterofevil I'm also acting on stage and I can tell you ''over-acting/-performing'' is much harder than the most people think. I really like the way Patti Lupone plays her roles, you can literally feel her energy. Of course, Sutton Foster is also fantastic, especially her dancing but I think Lupone is the better performer, her attitude combined with her amazing voice is just delightful.
      Otherwise I can understand why some people don't like this kind of a performance and I'm totally okay with that. I just wanted to share my opinion.

    Anyone notice that in the theatre production, there were 6 sailors and 4 angels. For the Tony's, 7 sailors and 5 angels. Thinking that for the Tony's, the swings got to perform, too.

    I saw this last night at the Barbican in London and would just like to confirm that it was as good, if not better, than this performance. Sutton literally has not aged a day. And it was the first time I have ever seen a West End audience give a standing ovation at the interval. One of the best things I have seen on stage in 20+ years of going to the theatre.

    I love the audience making sounds instead of just sitting silently. I think it showed they were really enjoying the performance rather than just watching it. (and they were also possibly hyping up the performers to let them know that, which I think is cool)
