Hi

I haven't seen my father since birth
hi
No dad lol. Sadly I'm 185cm so I would never look like him.
I love the story arc about Ivo and his father. It's not a story about perfect family, it has some melancholic vibe to it too. But what makes it so heartwarming is that this family goes through hardships together. The father tries his best to understand Ivo even though they have different mentalities, and Ivo tries too, even though he struggles with pretty much every activity his dad comes up with. Feels good that we don't need some Hollywood-level films to see good writing and emerging stories

The most underrated part was the mother saying "you've never been camping" and the father response being he's been camping on a high school trip this just shows even the father is out of his element too but kind of mimicking this to help his son "be a man" but even then the father didn't know little things like you need a fishing license and etc. The father was trying to act like how his father acted towards him to his own son
The father is showing him another thing how to be a Man. It is not about to be profiecient at everything, it is about heading straight into unknown without fear and always strive to learn new things. Also at the end there is nice example how to be a woman and keeping manliness in check :p
T pose to assert dominance over the elements.

Ivo's character growth is so heartwarming. He really is trying to be more self-sufficient. He was even smart enough to download some camping tutorials before the trip
He's also smart enough to notice the river 😆

No! It sucks!😂
I like how it's not that "X is better than Y" talk, but rather a view from both sides, it shows the characters' relationships without feeling forced or contrived, you see that both have flaws and qualities, the father is not shown as a "boring Boomer who thinks everything is worse" as in other videos, but a person who cares about his son and wants to see him better, and the son is not shown as simply "Gen Z kid who hates nature and doesn't want to stay with his parents", but a young person who doesn't 100% understand how things work and wants to keep up with his parents, and even though he has difficulties, he wants to improve and impress his father, as when he tries to catch a rabbit and worries about his father's state after the accident.
Weird how this is relatable yet common mainstream films and shows show unrealistic views
Gen X is a strange contradiction. Most have an obsession with competency, and can be very stubborn. Others, like in this video, are just trying their best to hang on to what little is left of the American dream. Millennials are the ugly ducklings and Gen Z has no idea what their purpose is, but they don't really care because they've witnessed what happens to millennials who try to meet Gen X's high expectations.continues
I remember when everyone used facebook and it worked well, but only because it was an enhancement to healthy social life. Seems like more "developed" areas are losing what could have been thriving social communities. Try having authenticity if you're broke and lost in life... the worst part is most people don't even notice the changes. If we don't sacrifice ignorance, comfort and traditionalism in order to re-learn sincerity, trust, and genuine human connection, we'll continue down this fast track to nowhere until it's too late.

@@blackwatch4471Based
I appreciate that the dad has to learn his own masculinity too. I've gotten the impression that this saga is more about accepting yourself and trying to be the best man you can be, not caring about whether that be a feminine or masculine trait. You don't need to be some macho tough guy to be a good dad, and your son doesn't need to be Arnold Schwarzenegger mixed with Tyler Durden for you to be proud of him, you just gotta make the effort to always be there for your kids.
For some guys, when they hear the words "toxic masculinity", they immediately think of over-obsessive feminists who genuinely just hate the male sex. But to those guys who think toxic masculinity isn't real because of that, toxic masculinity is just when you start hurting others and yourself in pursuit of "being a man". A lot of us have dads like that, who go around starting fights, objectifying women or gaining an obsession with thinking of themselves as some kind of alpha male. I can say from experience that your sons will grow to hate you and may even start hating their own masculinity if you act like that.
Just be a good person. Not a self-conscious, overly aggressive, hyper-sexual bully. It'll get you way closer to being a real man than taking steroids or being a "player" ever could. Go to work because your family needs you to, control your emotions so that situations don't escalate and never interrupt your children's lives, only add to them.
very well said couldn't have put it better myself

Pretty relatable. I’m a 19 year old infantry marine. I grew up with a hard ass for a dad that pushed me in sports, school, all that stuff. His methods were at times questionable but they disciplined me. I seen my friends playing video games, playing with legos, all I got were rides to and from wrestling practice and a screaming session while doing homework, suffice to say I miss those days. Now as a 19 year old I look at myself, my discipline, my strength, my mentality, on the contrary my friends are unemployed, living with their parents, still doing fairly immature things. I’m thankful I was raised by my father, he hard on me, but he loved me, and my mother was and still is as gentle as a butterfly. It was a perfect balance
Im almost 19
The best thing about that family is the respect they have for each other.
Ivo is not a masculine boy but he respects his father the way he is, same with the father, he's just afraid that his son is feminine but he loves him and respects him.

Lately I've been online less and less, I uninstalled discord, I'm no longer using my computer, and I'm starting to understand the people that came before me more and more. I feel more connected to the world around me. I understand what grit is. A lot of people have said that modern men are lesser or somehow irrevocably different from men of the past but that really isn't the case, it's the environment that you put yourself in that matters, not the one you are given.

Just another reason why fathers are so important. Thanks for this video MT.
too bad I never had one
Ivo's mom is pretty wise too.
The father is an interesting character, he seems to be caught up on an outdated or at least dramatized version of what he believes masculinity is yet has never practiced any of it outside of "sports with friends and going on that one camping trip", meanwhile the mother was apparently much more experienced with wildnerness training, even if it was something simpler like scouts. He doesn't even know how to teach his son to chop wood properly, that's something even I know he was doing wrong and I've only done it a few times. Even in the first episode he's seen standing by while others bully someone weaker which really isn't masculine at all.

This story is so great, it really feels good to watch
0:35 Amazing how the Dad is straight up not wearing a seatbelt and the son wearing both instead, wich by common automotive design should be impossible.
What a well meaning father, he just appears to not quite understand his son and the times that are.
The son is a good spirited soul aswell. Not working against his father and appearing appreciative or at least fine with his actions.
Wow good eye
I like the little detail that the dad used his seatbelt for his son instead of himself.
But y tho
DUDE LMAO I JUST REALISED💀
I interpreted it as being reckless and careless. A lot of people connect their seatbelts without wearing it, to stop the car seatbelt alarm from going off, or locking it to the passenger seat, to get it out of the way. They have this weird mentality that wearing a seatbelt is an annoyance or would make them less of a man.
The same thing happened in the car scene of the Episode 2, and it looks like it goes behind his son instead of in front of him. I believe he has the habit of keeping the seatbelt set that way all the time, while his son is more thoughtful about being lawful and more responsible.
Other events that reflect this are how the father just jumps on whatever idea he has in mind without thinking of the consequences, while his son tries to stay more grounded and rational. He was willing to lie to her wife, a scout nontheless, fish without a permit and improvise a camping experience without any knowledge of expertise, while Ivo wanted to be upfront with her and considered her mother's expertise to be valuable, other than posing the problem of not having a fishing permit.

Long story short Im well a femboy but I still have that hot head in me when needs to be if I have to but this video does describe my family or between me and my dad in general.
Good video btw! felt well written instead of sloppy writing.
It does make you less of a man
@@steven97321 whether it does or not I don't let anyone's words define who I am or if im less than a man or not. Im happy with who I am and that takes courage to admit it.
4:47 bro why is he holding the wood??? This is a baaaaaad idea.
Chill, Chill, He’s a “Professional camper”
Even though this is not at all my idea of a great family, it still makes me reflect on what I wanted when I was growing up.
I never had a father figure in my life and had to teach myself how to do everything my father should have taught me.
It really sucks that I never got to go camping or hunting with my father and that I could never look up to him as someone I wanted to be; in fact, I hated him for most of my life.
I'm thankful that I turned out the way that I did, but I will make sure my sons have the childhood I didn't get to have.
The expressionless of the models and voices add a lot to the great writing. It conveys a lot how I see people nowadays - everybody talk and move like humans, but feel like robots.
I love Evo in this one, his development is great same with the dad. They are both trying their best and despite their differences they still care for each other. I hope you continue this series.
