How Remove and Replace Tow Mirror Caps on a 2014 - 2019 Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra

Recently, we replaced the mirror caps on our 2017 GMC Sierra's OEM tow mirrors. In this video Sean gives you quick and detailed instructions on how to disassemble 2014-19 Silverado and Sierra OEM towing mirrors. He then gives you detailed instructions on how to replace the mirror caps, and then he gives you instructions on how to reassemble the mirror caps. These telescoping tow mirrors are the HD style mirrors that can be seen on most 2500-3500 HD pickup trucks. Listed below are GM part numbers related to these mirror caps.

Could you please tell me how to separate the D3 /D8 style when I took the cap off the case started to open up at the seam. But I got it to move a little more. But it feels like there is something still holding it in place I found the clips. But what is holding the center.? Please help me. It’s starting to get cold and I’m old 😢

I''m sorry I don't understand your question. Are you having a hard time separating the old cap and putting the new one on? Because there's nothing that holds the center of the caps on. If you give me more detail I'll be happy to help.

I got it apart. When you take the cap off of a D-3 off-8 mirror you can see that it has two separate pieces that make the plastic housing that holds the motor that holds the mirror in place. After you get the mirror out of the way. Like I said that I finally got it separated.
