Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial.
This little top is a very basic design, but it is perfect to showcase my wildly bright flannel plaid fabric. I show how to easily match even asymmetrical plaids. Then substitute some extra beading for plain topstitching. Just because :) This one is a fabulous, stress-free pattern and I hope you like it!
    Thanks for watching!

I just have to laugh every time you say something like, “They want you to….”, because I know your next words will be ,”but I am not going to”.

This is beautiful. Yes it is a simple pattern but the work you put into it was perfection. Thankyou. I doubt whether I will ever make another garment for myself but I do fancy making something for a small person. About 5 years ago I made 55 pillowcase dresses for children in Uganda. A friend of mine was taking them out…..I had such fun with them. I took such care and had lovely fabrics, cottons and batiks that my family and neighbours donated money to purchase. Since then I had a stroke but am now able to sew, knit etc. thanks again for filming this sewing process, I loved it:).

I made view C with the sleeve ties out of paprika colored, lightweight linen and I love it--wore it today, coincidentally. I thought I might add an inch or two at the hips in future makes. I am not wide in the hips, but I thought it was a little narrow even on me. I also thought the ties might be a little too long and that might be annoying, but made them as indicated and they are OK as is. Instead of hemming the ties with a narrow hem as the pattern directions indicate, I faced the ties. That was a little tricky but I figured out a way to do it. It was a little wide on my shoulders and I have since altered the neckline to narrow it a little. All in all, I love this pattern and will try other views in other fabrics in the future.

I can relate to the plaid matching, as I have been making a "Queen's Gambit" early 1960s style pinafore (jumper) dress in plaid. First time ever doing that and it had princess seams, eek! It was very time consuming/crazy making matching the lines, but I like the result. Yours is lovely!

Hi Suzanne! I recently bought mine through WAWAK. It is their Rapid Steam Gravity Fed iron. Takes a little getting used to, but I like it. much heavier that my Rowenta, and then there's the hoses and cords... I like that they sell parts so I can fix things and use tap water with the inline filter.
