Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial.
This little top is a very basic design, but it is perfect to showcase my wildly bright flannel plaid fabric. I show how to easily match even asymmetrical plaids. Then substitute some extra beading for plain topstitching. Just because :) This one is a fabulous, stress-free pattern and I hope you like it!
Thanks for watching!
~Marie

I love the top. What great information for matching plaids...the bead detail is a wonderful addition.
Thank you.
Lovely top! So glad you put beads on sleeves to match the neck. Great pattern matching tutorial too. Thanks you so much for all your hard work. X
The top is basic, but you added some special touches. Thanks for the pattern matching tips.
You are so welcome Jan. Thanks for watching :)
The beads really add a nice touch. Good job. Love the fabric. It is bold and beautiful, great to wear on a dreary rainy day😊
Thank you!!
Very cute top. A go to top for every day. Great job!! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! 😊
Oh my gosh! That's so cute!
Thanks!!
Amazing how the yellow thread disappeared! Very pretty.
Thank you! 😊
This was my first time watching a plaid garment made from start to finish, I have made plaid garments in the past, but your attention to detail is awesome, especially the bead work. Will be checking out the plaid fabric you chose today when I make a trip to JoAnn. Excellent video.
Thank you! Lovely!
You are so welcome!
Love it, so adorable! I want to get back to sewing and your tutorials are so fun . By the way I’m in love with your little farm and lifestyle. It reflects my growing up years. Thank you for sharing your inspiration! 🎉 ❤
Very nice, different look with the plaid looks like a whole new look.
Thank you! Isn't is amazing how different it looks?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge

I slow down the reveal to lowest speed because it is the best part! This was a great make! The beads are great!
That's a good idea! I did a slow-mo of my latest video reveal. Thanks!
The beads make such a difference! Love it! 😍
Thank you Mara. Something different :)
Love the plaid top on you!
Thank you!!
Thank you! This is my first ever sewing pattern and I am grateful that you have done a step by step for this :)
It's a great pattern to start with. Good luck hope it goes well
Hi Marie, what a beautiful fabric, you
Did a great job. Looks great. I'm going to
Try a plaid next.
Thank you!
I do love that plaid! When I first saw it, I immediately thought of the classic flannel shirt you made a few weeks ago. It would be really cute made from this fabric.
I just have to laugh every time you say something like, “They want you to….”, because I know your next words will be ,”but I am not going to”.
You are definitely a self identified rebel, and there is nothing wrong with that!
Thanks Jean!
Your top is lovely Marie. Thank you for your tutorials- you are such a good teacher.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for your sewing videos. I am a long time sewist but I am enjoying watching you at work! You are so calm and patient (which is probably the most needed quality of sewing), it inspires me to get at my machine.
You are so welcome!!! I enjoy making the videos. I hope you get back to your machine soon. :)
I enjoy you explaining the reasoning behind your decisions. Lovely top!
As I chat to myself, alone in my room with the camera :)
Very 😍 pretty
Thank you! 😊

Super cute im making me one thank you
Fabulous I was always afraid to sew plaid I think I will try
Good! Starting with a basic pattern like this is a good way to begin matching plaids.
I love your channel so much 😍 I always learn something useful. You have such a peaceful way of teaching. Your channel is aptly named💜💜💜
Hi Sharon! Thank you 🥰😁
I like your top.
Thanks!
This is my favorite. I 💕 it. you matched the plaid perfectly. I can't find the plaid but I got some plaid fabric. I am getting a pattern. I'm excited but nervous. You look beautiful in this.
Wonderful! You can do it! One step at a time :)
Looks so pretty!!!
Thank you!
That is so PRETTY with the beadwork. Awesome job!
Thank you Angela!
Oh Marie that fabric is absolutely gorgeous, I’m jealous lol, I love bright colours🌈 especially for winter when everyone else is wearing navy, black and brown! The top will be perfect for the cooler weather, absolutely lovely 👏👏👏👏🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺🌼🌸🌺
Thank you!!! I love bright cheerful colors especially in winter when everything outside is grey. Love the flowers!!
Beautiful job!!
Thank you!
Great instructions on plaid matching. I,never heard of fusible stay tape but now I need it. Enjoyed that you use it because you want to. That made me laugh. The beads make the top more custom. Finished top is fabulous!
My mom was a excellent seamstress but wasn't thrilled when I brought home uneven plaids. She would point out people on TV show where their plaids did not match at the side seams. Just found your channel. Will subscribe.
Hi Carol! Welcome! Plaid matching can easily slip into an obsession :)
It is so incredibly satisfying when they match though, isn't it ")
You turned a simple top into a classic with beads
Clever you
N I invested in£1 nail vanish for sealing ends
Thank you x
Thank you!!!
I love the top. I liked how you put the beads on. You have giving me an idea of what to do with the plaid flannels.
I'm so glad!
Beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
I love it!❤️ Looks so comfortable. I couldn’t imagine what the beads would look like, but they look so cute! I might have to get some of that fabric.
Thank you! I love beads :)
Love it!
Thanks!
Love it.
Thank you!
What a satisfying make. Love the fabric and the tiny beads just elevate the simple style of the top.
Thank you! 😊
Lovely top Marie. Looks great on you. Nice and comfortable for colder months. Excellent plaid matching.
Thanks so much! 😊
Very nice!
Thank you :)
What a sweet project you’ve made! I love the beading details. Sooo cute! 🎊 This plaid fabric will go with so many different colors of garments-yellow, orange, navy, dark green, black, brown, gray, maybe purple, even red. That’s the best kind of clothing item in my book. 😉
Thank you Norma! I love the cheerfulness in the middle of the dark cold months :) And it goes with EVERYTHING😂
Beautiful top Marie! I’m going to try this pattern
Have fun!
That's a lovely simple top. Showing how easy it is to add a personal touch of creativity with the beading. x
Thank you Christine! Always a little extra over here :)
I love it
Thanks!
I absolutely love it and it looks wonderful on you
Thank you! Can't wait for the weather to cool a bit :)
Love this too! The beads really set it off. Thanks so much for sharing!
You are so welcome!
This is beautiful. Yes it is a simple pattern but the work you put into it was perfection. Thankyou. I doubt whether I will ever make another garment for myself but I do fancy making something for a small person. About 5 years ago I made 55 pillowcase dresses for children in Uganda. A friend of mine was taking them out…..I had such fun with them. I took such care and had lovely fabrics, cottons and batiks that my family and neighbours donated money to purchase. Since then I had a stroke but am now able to sew, knit etc. thanks again for filming this sewing process, I loved it:).
I am so glad you are back to making little things! Take it one step at a time ant enjoy the process . Thank you so much for watching!
Love those beads on it! Beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
I love that fabric! Next on my fabric haul list.
Hey! So glad you're here!!! Missed you :)
@@mybucoliclife Aww thanks! I started back at the school for the school year, I'm going back to school to finish out my degree and I'm working a part-time job to help pay my tuition. So I try to catch up on the videos when I have a little time to myself. Not to mentioned that I haven't had any time to sew since last week, but when I do I'll post an update on my CZcams channel. Take care and I'll see you in your next premiere.
I made view C with the sleeve ties out of paprika colored, lightweight linen and I love it--wore it today, coincidentally. I thought I might add an inch or two at the hips in future makes. I am not wide in the hips, but I thought it was a little narrow even on me. I also thought the ties might be a little too long and that might be annoying, but made them as indicated and they are OK as is. Instead of hemming the ties with a narrow hem as the pattern directions indicate, I faced the ties. That was a little tricky but I figured out a way to do it. It was a little wide on my shoulders and I have since altered the neckline to narrow it a little. All in all, I love this pattern and will try other views in other fabrics in the future.
That sounds lovely! Live the red tones too :) Thanks for your tips on how yours fitted. So glad you watched. :)
I can relate to the plaid matching, as I have been making a "Queen's Gambit" early 1960s style pinafore (jumper) dress in plaid. First time ever doing that and it had princess seams, eek! It was very time consuming/crazy making matching the lines, but I like the result. Yours is lovely!
Oh how fun. Matching plaids is like figuring out a puzzle. I hope the pinafore turned out! I would love to see it if you want to post a picture on the facebook group. Thank you for watching!
@@mybucoliclife I'll join the group and post as soon as I've hemmed it :)
I had my eye on this fabric last week but wasn’t sure what to make - now I do! Thank you for another great detailed video.
I know right! I literally stood in the aisle holding it for quite some time. I knew it had to be SOMETHING! Thanks for watching :)
Hi Marie, I made that pattern back in 2019 out of a white cotton shirting. I made view C and I love it. However be careful with the straps if you go out to dinner. Been there and ended with dirty straps. 😂 the beads are adorable.
Oh my! I can picture that though! Thanks for the warning😂
So so cute love the fabric and the beads😍
Thank you Carol!
May be a basic but the bright plaid and the beads elevate this top. So fun!
Thank you Linda!
What a beautiful top you have made, smart decision about pattern choice .....love your work, just subscribed , it's a joy to watch your chanel, is your sewing machine high shank ?thanks for all you do♥
Thank you Ann! Yes, my main machine, the meister, is high shank. All the rest are low shank. So glad you subscribed!
Marie, I do love that colorful plaid! It’s so pretty on that simple pattern ! Great choice!! Very helpful tips on matching plaids!! The beads added a fun unexpected detail. Where they seed beads that you used? Have a good weekend!😊
Hi Mia! Thank you :) The beads were bigger than seed beads. I don't know the technical sizing but they are about 1/8" wide. Big enough to be easy to put a needle through :)
Marie, what a nice top. I love the plaid. I need to add this pattern to my collection. Question...I need to replace my Rowenta iron (old) and I like what I can see of your iron. What is the brand and model. If it's easier, just add a quick mention in a future video. Thanks.
Suzanne e
Hi Suzanne! I recently bought mine through WAWAK. It is their Rapid Steam Gravity Fed iron. Takes a little getting used to, but I like it. much heavier that my Rowenta, and then there's the hoses and cords... I like that they sell parts so I can fix things and use tap water with the inline filter.
Comment... Regarding the stay tape you purchased on Etsy, if you log into your account and go to your past purchases, you should be able to find your order. Not sure if you knew that, but thought I'd share.
