I probably should come out of retirement, to possibly put some of the i into cysec AI.
Best decision I've made was leaving the US and living abroad. Living in Asia now where prices are lower, people are friendlier, standard of living is high, and things ... still makes sense 😅
Hardest part of leaving is getting on that plane. The rest will fall into place.

Which country are you referring to? Salaries are notoriously low in Asian countries compared to US, most countries in general actually

Hey Sandra, I originally subscribed because I'm a CS student. While it sucks to see you go, I think you just needed to take some time off from both things and re strategize your daily schedule. I think the subscribers will be okay with a video a week or one really good video a month. Your mental health comes first so best of luck. I'll still watch a video casually from time to time.

I just stumbled on your page a few days ago. My wife is finishing up her degree in cybersecurity and I’ve started learning to code on my own. I’m considering doing the same as her once she’s done and appreciate the info you share. Not sure if it’s something you or your regular audience would be interested in, but have you thought about making an edc video about the stuff you used in your career like useful gadgets and just every day items? Also any super cool stuff like the flipper zero?
You inspired me to get into cyber, internationally is a goal of mine so look forward to that journey.

Hey Sandra! I have a question and need advice on what degree to obtain. I’m currently on the path for getting a degree in cybersecurity but I’m wondering if I should go for CS degree instead then get certs for cybersecurity like security+? So should I stick with cybersecurity or get a Computer Science degree?

Now is the time to maybe do computer security part time and have a couple kids and raise a family , basically leading a normal type of lifestyle that probably will be the most important.Good family life tops everything

The think is about cybersecurity you will never know everything and won't learn enough. This field is stressful but full of opportunities and it will burn you out and stress you break point. One thing I learned have a passion outside of cybersecurity do not let it be your identity.

Seems like being a pilot would be awsome you can see the whole world. have 15 days off a month so you can do aalot of other things while at it.

There are programs you can complete in 16 weeks but in terms of finding a job, I do think the job market right now is highly competitive, I've have old colleagues who took 2-3 months to find their next roles after being let go or looking for a new role, but there're definitely still companies hiring for cybersecurity roles

It's like I have a 6th sense when career youtubers will quit their jobs and become full-time youtubers once they have enough of a following.
I don't blame you. I stopped studying for cybersecurity once I found out about how it actually is.

It's just more profitable to sell shovels (content, certifications, bootcamps, etc.) in a gold rush (Cloud, Cybersecurity, etc.). I remember TechwithLucy mentioning there was a point in time she was making more money from CZcams than her job at AWS as Solutions Architect.
@@darkwing451 Yeah, but in the long run I don't know how profitable will this be. I mean, we already have a lot of free resources available online so why would people pay for it. I don't contest her decision, if that's working for her more power to her, but I don't think it'll work for everybody that want to be part of this IT sector.

Am qualified, but employers don't give you chances in the UK, you hit the ground running with a degree and £50k of debt or you stay off the career ladder, everything else gets minimum wage... And you just, quit. *shakes head* I have no words...
