    Do you have any recommendations or advice when creating a resume that has no previous work experience in Cybersecurity, but have various certificates and completed / enrolled in college for Cyber Security? Loving your videos 😍

      I have my resume very much like this, im going to Augusta University for Cyber Security and I have my ISC2 CC cyber security cert. I focused on projects and certs on my resume by putting them first, and then i put my work history below that.

    Is it possible to get any of following jobs without having IT degree or having Helpdesk support working experience, but only having certs:
    1. Sysadmin
    2. Network admin
    3. Cloud admin
    4. SOC analyst
    5. Security analyst

      @Pandaexpreszzzz Před rokem +2

      I got my first SOC analyst role by only having Sec+. But that was years ago. Now times are different. I would say from my personal experiences and what I see in the market today, you are really at a disadantage if you dont have that degree box checked on your resume. However, if you do have certs and Helpdesk experience, i would say the easiest job to get of these 5 would be Sys Admin or Network Admin. Cloud Admin is really only suited best for people with years of IT experience already.

      @@Pandaexpreszzzz In my situation I have absolutely no way to check that degree box. Thank you very much on info you shared with me. It's most definitely of help.

      It's a numbers game. It's common to do 100 applications and only get one interview even if everything is great.

    • @Pandaexpreszzzz
      @Pandaexpreszzzz Před rokem +1

      Getting that first Cyber role is very tuff! If you have no prior IT experience at all, it will be very hard to get a Cybersecurity job. Keep in mind, Cybersecurity is an advanced field that usally assumes the people or person(s) have atleast some type of IT background. Typcially 2-5 years of exerience. There are entery level cyber jobs, but while looking at IT as a whole, those "entry level" cyber job postings already assume you have experience as previously mentioned. However, it is not impossible to get a cyber job right out the gate. Some of my most recent colleagues are currently in their first IT role as an Cybersecurity analyst. Keep applying and learning and you will 100% get a job!

      For cases like this, I would focus specifically on either revamping your resume or changing the types of roles you're applying for. Do you have technical projects/experience, any security certs, relevant skills, etc that are on your resume that are preferred qualifications for the jobs you're applying to? This definitely depends on the jobs you want to go for but I'd scope out 2-3 roles, look at the common or popular skills/tools they want you to have experience in, get practice using the tools (there may be community editions or open source equivalents) then apply to jobs with those new projects or skills listed on your resume. Good luck, you got this!!

      I’ve been browsing around myself, from what I’ve noticed almost all those slots are filled (at least the good ones). And the only way to get up the chain is to literally start off at rock bottom and hope you’re working for a company that will have opportunities later on.
