That's a cool backstory.
I love this origin better than all of the others. I have like three copies of the Mean Machines issue, two of the smaller version and 2 copies of the Sonic the Comic issue that tell this origin.
This should've been the true canon story for the Sonic series, including how Kintobor became Robotnik (he accidentally fused with an egg with his machine). After all, it briefly explains why Sonic doesn't allow him to legitimately die by any means
EDIT: I changed my mind.
Actually there is references here in there I think in the Archie comics about it how robotnik was good etc and Sega saying now they wanted all the comics and games in the same universe lore etc now
I don’t Think we need an explanation why Sonic is fast & blue and why he does not kill Eggman. Just saying “He’s just fast” & “He does not feel like killing Eggman” with no explanation is fine

Doctor Ovi? As somebody who's written a multitude of Egg Laying fictions, I can't help but notice that word is another word for Eggs. Even Dr. Eggman's first name spelled backwards is a reference to eggs.
This comic's art style is excellent, wish they kept it.

Steve Rodgers treatment
I saw this Spanish animated short movie talking exactly about this, where Jim Carrey was Ovi Kintobor and man did things change. Maurice (apparently Sonic's true original name) was abandoned and Ovi took him to his lab. The experiments were an attempt to boost Maurice's abilities and make him stronger and and brave, but I don't remember at what point or how Ovi turns evil. The thing is Sonic's origins are still unknown in videogames and they tell us a different one in each TV series they make. I hope Sega will tell the true story now that they are putting more emphasis on the lore

I was doing research not long ago and another story is that sonic was a normals hedgehog but a nuclear explosion happened and he got super speed and turned blue because of it, his dad also died in that explosion apparently. Idk what story this is from though.

Robotnik’s original name was “Eggman” as he was created in Japan as “Dr. Eggman” but due to translation difficulties during the release of the games, North America renamed him “Dr. Robotnik” so no.
Another reason why I never look at the UK comic series for canon information. It’s a different continuity. Compare it to this, if you had the original version of One Piece but used the 4Kidz dub as your primary resource for information, you’d be blasted by that community.

That makes Eggman the father of Sonic because technically through that Sonic became a totally different creature and being because of that experiment his body his shape is color everything it changed you basically became new creature entirely so he something Eggman created
and also, in the sonic games ( sonic 1 ) he was supposed to be a blue rabbit wich love was a rabbit, you know, cream of course! but sega wanted sonething spiky, after a long time their idea was to draw a hedgehog, after a long time games was released over and over of games of hedgehogs. but in sonic superstars you can play as the very old rabbit( no not the rabbit is old, he was drawn in old time)
