Compare a single thread of a bullet proof vest to a thread of web. One is stronger. Now compare an entire vest made out of spider silk thread to a regular bullet proof vest and see which one is better. If spider silk were the same size as a steel beam, it would be stronger, likewise if you shrunk a steel beam down to a single spider-silk thread size, it would be weaker. Obviously steel is stronger if you're comparing typical volume/mass, but if you fairly compare the molecular strength from a relative standpoint there's no discrepancy.

Ive seen spiders the size of my hand but those are the best spiders, they don’t make webs and are afraid of you so they won’t come near you if they can avoid it. I agree with wasps, I was in high school and I was walking home with my friends and a wasp landed on one of my friends and we gently freaked out until a teacher came over and got the wasp off and we booked it down the street. We survived. Also wasp also pollinate flowers so :/
