  • Welcome to our first time watching The Matrix (1999).
We loved this! A fast-paced action film, science-fiction setting, with ultra-cool style. Written and Directed by the Wachowskis, starring Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Lawrence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving.
AMAZING! From script to execution, performances and post-production. Hope you enjoy our reactions, commentary and discussion as we watch it for the first time from two different generations (admittedly one of us 25 years ago). We both found it jaw dropping, great fun and exceptional filmmaking.

We hope you enjoy this Reaction Video. Apologies if it's too long (but you can always skip through), but we felt the power of this film justified it. It's more detailed than other reaction videos of this film and we integrated more clips than usual so you can see the scenes we are referencing. We also did a proper sound mix and image quality control of the final output. As a result it took a while to edit and upload (in 4K!). We hope you think it's worth it. This is truly a very important film!

This has got to be one of the smartest kids! Not only is he so engaged with the film, but he's so quick to pick up on the complexity of the plot. LOVING y'all's reactions so far!!

For many Americans, Hugo Weaving will always be Agent Smith. Before he was in Lord of the Rings, he was Smith. And he’s perfection at it🤘

  • @neilaslayer

Your son: "NOT that many guns!" The average American moviegoer: "Heck yeah!"

  • @owlhouse53

The Oracle didn’t actually tell Neo he wasn’t the ‘One’. Neo actually said it 🍪

  • @BattleAngelFan99

The Oracle didn't tell Neo he wasn't the one. She let him tell her what he thought and then she said she was sorry and she hated breaking bad news to good people. This is a problem with the way most people think. They jump to conclusions and assume things too much. The Oracle used this because she knew he wouldn't "level up" until he becomes the one by choice and knowledge of his abilities. At least, this is my interpretation of it after rolling it around in my head for a couple decades. :D

Very few adults recognize that the fight in the subway is an homage to a Western shootout. Well done!

  • @liquidmetal12

The movie represents the true meaning of "woke"

Your son repeatedly saying "That's a good shot" really shows how well youve exposed him to films ❤

  • @080gina080

When I introduced the Matrix to my kids I first had to explain how in the early 90s we were still using our wall phones and dialing up to connect to the internet and how they did that in the film.

"why don't they go into the Matrix to eat food"

  • @arjunapartha

You son; only kid ever to guess “ she teleported through the phone” ….immediately. Wow.

  • @scottallen6160

A good father.. demonstrated by his advice, comments throughout but also in his son’s reactions and comments. It was wholesome to watch.

  • @MoominDoogie

I'm impressed with how quickly your lad picked up the basic concept of the matrix. He's a smart boy 👍

  • @SharmaForLlama

OK as soon as I heard "spy kids for adults" I had to see his full reaction 😄

  • @basketballadigonzalez5561

This is the first channel I’ve seen where it’s a parent and child, i love how you inform him about the movies so well!

  • @criss_v33

I think it's a very current and important film to discuss with the new generation. What I find interesting is that the new generation will understand the nuances of this film much more easily than those who saw it at the time.

If this kid goes in to filmmaking then my faith in the future is restored.

Awesome reflection at the end! One of my all time favorites! Deep as it can get, action, originality
