- Here is a compilation of various home movies taken whilst The Beatles were filming their second film 'Help!'
Most of them are by Dr. Walter Strach, however there are some clips here which have unknown backgrounds i.e location and who filmed it. - Hudba
My family and I visited Nassau recently, I was always a big Beatles fan, and I didn't even know they went there.
very nice, it's cool to see the real behind the scenes stuff~ it will make viewing the movie real tripie
Awesome video! Thanks for all you do!
The Fabs were a whirlwind of activity. They were writing HELP! in between filming and then started a world tour playing virtually every day (Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago, LA). Never ending air travel and living out of hotels. Interviews, photo-ops - EVERY FREAKING DAY! Don't know how they stayed sane.
On this day in 1965 {September 13th} the Beatles won two Grammy Awards {for 'Best New Artist' and 'Best Performance by a Vocal Group' for "Help!"}; it was their first Grammy Awards...
At the time they won the award for "Help!" it was on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, in fact it was in its 2nd week at being #1 on the Top 100, and altogether it was #1 for 3 weeks...
Overall they received 25 Grammy nominations and won a total of eight gilded Gramophone trophies ...
R.I.P. John and George...
Thank you!!! Great clips!
Very nice footage. Thanks for the upload!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Raintree.
Very cool, thanks!
Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but the soundtrack to this footage sounds a LOT like the full-length version of Lennon's Nutopian International Anthem, taken straight from the original session tape....
FANTASTIC...
So cool. The Beatles were IT .
Dr. Walter Strach, financial adviser..hmm...he probably should have told Brian not to give away 80% of the licensing on Beatle merch. That would have been helpful.
By the way, this is amazing footage, thanks for posting it!
too cool.
I've never seen this footage. It's great to see, along with Help! in Blu-Ray. I recall hearing stories about John cussing out the rich bastards there . . .
Good. Everyone s entitled to bitch
No sound on my end! Cannot figure out how to turn sound on; it doesn’t seem possible.
The "unkown Location" at 22:20 is most probably the airport in Salzburg. At least what I gathered from the background....
Shame it is all SILENT......but some great pix....
Play Abbey Road while you watch.
Hey Chief...do you know who filmed these videos? How did you get ahold of them? Are you a Beatles memorabilia collector?
"AnnaMayWongSociety" is the first person i have had comment about not liking my footage because it doesn't belong to me. It's obvious i don't own it but there are thousands of other users with Beatles clips. I think the account holder might be jealous of what i have achieved.
Will someone please tell me what that "instrument" that George was eating made of? Thnx!
February 23, 1965 is the day comedian Stan Laurel of Laurel & Hardy died. Bummer.
As if they'd allow someone to dangle from a blimp like that nowadays lol
God bless those 'unsupervisedt' days
@20:46 George: "A fiendish thingy!!"
From what I've read the financial advisor Dr. Walter has someone who took the Fabs for a load of money that they never saw again.
I didnt found a thing about "WalterStach". is the Name of this Blog here
They were high!
Lots of B-roll, not much of which made it to the final cut. Don't recall the Goodyear blimp shot making it to the final print -- and man, that Hindu goddess statue was HUGE. The budget for HELP must have been off the chain for its day.
I'm pretty sure the good year blimp did make the cut, when they arrive in the Bahamas. Also I'm pretty sure the budget for the film was 500,000 :)
you should check out the d young band they have a country version of this on you tube
Ringo's dog did some filming but he put sound on his woof woof .
Could use more tweeters....
Could use more tweeters....
I don't hear any sound ??????????????????????? !
Why the hell can't a person find the whole Help movie. I have looked forever.
Look on Dailymotion.
Its on Amazon now.
I didnt found a thing about "WalterStach".
Can't understand a bloody word they're saying.
This was incredibly bo r ing for me.
no sounds
Definitely not a good film and certainly not a patch on Hard Days Night, but it is always interesting to see The Beatles. As Ringo once acknowledged, it was often difficult for fans to hear them play in those days due to weak sound systems and the sheer noise particularly the screaming that came from the audience. The fans had in reality come to see, rather than hear The Beatles. Help had some some very good to okay tunes in it with John especially contributing the strongest element. Yesterday was not in the movie but on the album. The Beatles themselves had fun making the movie but knew it wasn't much good.
It was a great movie if you were the demographic then. And even if you weren't,t it was Batman style fun (as in Batman yhe tv show back then)
Yesterday wasn't in the American version
Wonder why the camera was such a crappy one considering how important an archive this is. It's like home movies in 1953.. This is 1966 .. Geez, it's not as if the fab 4 wern't known yet !! Too bad the quality is so poor when it didn't have to be, ...Audio aside....
+Mark Harris This is an ordinary cam own by an ordinary guy. NOT a pro camera. My dad had a cam like this in 1966. We thought it was BRILLIANT. Before this type of camera you had to be practically a millionaire to have a movie camera. Your judging it by smart phone HD standard's. Back then HD camera phones weren't even a wild dream.
Mea culpa..10-4
+wanderer1955 you are right! Even my grand father that was milionnaire the portable one were not as close as our phone! People don't realize this is 1965 only few had Black and white and rare colors!
My dad got his first movie camera in 1966. He got it by cutting the top off a box of Kellogg's Cornflakes and sending it off by post with a postal order for one English pound note, seriously, I am not joking here. They sent him the cam. You had to wind it up to get it to work. NO batteries. And no sound. After just a few weeks it went wrong, but you could still use it. My dad gave it to me and I used it till it broke completely. This led me to take up an interest in ( amateur ) film making, which I still do today in blu ray HD. I have my own things about the Beatles on CZcams. ALL filmed by me.
+wanderer1955 cool! Me its pictures and made a dark room in the house and many pictures in magazines eu, us & canada but all for fun!😊
Why do you repeat many of the clips straight after each other? Bloody annoying.
why the fuck is no sound???
Back then amateur home-use super-8 cameras did not have sound, This was nearly years before primitive home VHS video was available.
andylyboy31 That's pretty funny! You must be young...not knowing "how it used to be!"
sunking2001 well yeah, but these video hacker could have put some background music, I don't know anything like Justin beaver or Rhyena.
andylyboy31 Who are they?
sunking2001
sunking2001 is one them
is it me?? all i see is a black screen >_
Interesting. One of the seldom really amateur-movies of the Beatles.
A White man could take a proper vacation in those days.....
Haha was just thinking the same thing -- what a bunch of white male privilege on display.
+ClueSign And you are privileged to watch it ! And for freeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!
BORING.....
