- Gen-Z is Entering C-suite, Getting Rid of Meetings & Emails | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Gen-z is entering the C-suite and changing the workplace. It is getting rid of meetings, set work hours, email chains, and other traditional work aspects. And this is not being received well among the older generations. 25% gen-z say their productivity peaks at night so they want flexible hours. But less than 15% of older generations log on after 6 pm. Plus, gen-z wants workplaces to be more casual, open to talking about mental health, and job hopping. Meanwhile, many say gen-z don't respect hierarchies and don't want to pay their dues. Are gen-z workers lazy? Should they be changing worklife? Who will win-gen-z or millennials? Palki Sharma tells you.

Work should be a part of life . Meanwhile I'm basically living at work.
You thank greedy employers and corps for that...they put you in hell.
I really appreciate Generation Z. Every generation has its flaws and strengths, and Gen Z is no different. What I admire most about Gen Z is their rejection of outdated stereotypes, especially around work-life balance. Unlike previous generations that often equated work with life, Gen Z understands that work is just a part of life, not its entirety.
They are challenging the norms of rigid professional environments, questioning unnecessary formalities like excessive email chains and hierarchical permissions. I hope Gen Z continues to break these outdated practices and redefine a more balanced and sensible approach to work and life. I wish them all the best in their efforts.
I've interacted with them professionally and personally they are just maladaptive and self absorbed. Wait till you need to rely on them for anything critical like Healthcare or food . It's scary as hell.
@@sreddy914 Well said...everything is rosy till it's critical time. Then people will only hire and support only those that demonstrate responsibility.
I don’t believe in generation gaps before, all I know we are all workers until I have gen z teammates. Now I know the differences between these generations as a Gen x, my gen z coworkers are always absent and sickly, complaining about anything and so slow at finishing projects, toxic is short. While me and my other gen x teammates are just cruising steadily at work everyday 😂
And this is the generation that will destroy humanity….too much woke mentality will destroy the system.
@@sreddy914butt hurt?
The change is seen in people whose parents have earned enough and their survival is not at stake. Housing and odd is no more a concern for them.
I support this strongly. It's a factor that really decides what for you want to work.
Exactly
the privileged
Not really. I am an employer and have been facing this issue with Gen-Zs who don’t come from a well to do background aswell.
Yes 100%
I am a millennial, but hated meetings with a passion, i completely understand. Sitting down for 2hrs listening to people say things that can be communicated in 200 characters
Good on them. I hate the confines of corporate life. I will not be signing on after 6pm though
No one is working their life away to make CEOs rich as we are chastised about repaying loans. It’s a vicious cycle that they have intelligently chosen to step out of. Good for them. Just watch what their kids do 🤣
As per my age, I fall somewhere in between the previous generations and Gen-Z. Though, I do not have any issue with any generation as each has its own strengths, however as I have observed that Gen-Z employees think complaining everything around is a great tool to succeed, even if the issue is with their own skills set. I am a developer in a reputed global IT giant and in my life I have seen myself and many of my peers spending hours/days/weeks to analyze and learn to fix a random software glitch. It is mostly a repeated cycle of analyzing, learning, trying and fixing. When I look at these new peers, the first thing they tend to do is pointing out 10 other problems around the system and not even coming closer to the main issue. A Gen-Z can complain other generations and oldies, however a complex machine does not get fixed automatically after listening to those complains? You have to put efforts, dedication, hard work to excel in anything. That is truth of nature, it is not a generation made thing.
PS: Also, I am not a corporate slave to make above claims. I get handsome salary with only 7-8 flexible hours to work per day.
I appreciate Gen-Z's carefree attitude (or most pretend to be so) but when life hits hard, this attitude will go against them. We already see their relationship issues. They have set the bar so high for their own casualness that their mentally instability and basic disrespect for life's consequences are gonna put them in real mental asylums lifelong.
Carefree lifestyle started with the Boomers, encouraged by Gen X, amplified by Millenials, now totally normal for Gen Z. We are all in this together 😂
ok boomer
😊
@@migspeculates not applicable to india .india had prosperity only after 1990s

In the middle of all these chaos India is handling their youngsters well by encouraging Entrepreneurship among Gen Z's instead of those rotting job models.....

that's stupid to encourage enterpreneurship
I am 1981 born... between Gen X and Millennials. But I like how Gen Z thinks. WFH, short and sweet work engagements, use of technology and automation does make life better.
Every one needs a lifestyle change. Everyone needs to work smarter, eat healthier and sleep properly.
My dad worked for Birlas in the 40s and was in remote North India but I dont recall him working more than 8 hours a day Being a middle class family he could give us more than a decent life _ wife, a maid to help her and 3 children, a family dog and pet birds! We had our yearly holidays. Mind you there was no internet thieving or hacking back then and never knew what it was to be delayed _ and India was over populated in the forties so good luck to these self proclaimed advanced countries killing us off quickly
Are you talking about 1940s? Before independence...

I don’t blame them for leaving a job on a whim.
Employers don’t want to pay for decent benefits, pension plans are in government jobs only, and most importantly, it’s not like they can afford a house if they stay.
They got nothing to lose.
Are customers willing to pay for the product these people produce? If yes, then they will get 'fair share' of the product or service revenue. Else, no.
@@indieboy1033 nobody should have to live in poverty so someone else can get a great deal on ________ (insert want here)
IT employees are already living this type of life for the past 20 yrs.
Every Gen Z I've worked with shows up late, does jack while on the job, leaves early, and then complains about not being paid enough.
Lazy ass, so we used to say about such employees. 😂
Another reason why job hiring is getting strict.
Most of them must be with Parents, salary is like pocket money for them.
you get what you pay
True! They arent disciplined
Still using "Thanks and Regards"😂
As someone who's Genz , i can sympathize with older gen a bit. There should be professionalism at work place.
I had a 24 year old marketing associate lecture me about how to communicate with my customers who are mostly older than me. And I’ve been doing my job for 30 years 😂. It’s like my daughter lecturing me on how to do my job😂
Was the advice good or bad?
@@asht7899Exactly. The arrogance of the older generation is why the economy and job market is shit.
@@NotSoEntertaining. dude I was seriously asking if the advice was good or bad. I really want to know. Not attacking the older generation in anyway and younger generation is not so great either. Job market is shit that's definitely true. But don't think younger generation is going to come and change anything 😁
Wait until they have to face reality.. Life is never about technology alone.. Dedication, hard work and responsibility makes a company.
and a lifespan of a company is much smaller than…
Companies don’t care about their workers. That’s reality.
They are smart our grandparent were stupid having children and house at young age which forced one to be loyal to a company even if you were not treated well to support family and pay bills.

i am not young, but i approve this movement with all my soul ❤🔥
This type of people are usually 2-3rd generation of educated parents , parents with good job or income which ensure good stability for them.. and mostly living in the Metro cities. Studied in Good school and college from the city. And their parents ensure that their Gen Z kid gets everything they want. Also these parwnts have enough investment and mostly these Gen Z dont have to care about getting house, car , iphone or PlayStation because their parents have givem them everything.. on the other hand if you see first generation learner Gen Z they are sincere, hardworking and not showing any of traits which news anchor mentioned.. they striving hard to get the stable life.. and good career.. and old people in the companies might co relate and co ordinate better with these first generation bread winner.. because they have been through the same..there is difference between Gen Z from rural regions and Metropolitan city region... First generation bread winner gen z and 3rd generation previlaged gen z.... News anchor probably covering only later category...
If they dont work hard, they will be homeless and it will really hit them after they hit retirement age..because mommy and daddy most like will be gone.
Mommy and Daddy’s generation destroyed the economy. Unless their kids are making $100k plus then it doesn’t matter what they do.
I’m Gen Z and I realized early on that working for money will keep you poor or in middle class.
Become the asset and you’ll have the freedom hence why they’re more young CEO’s
@@_captain6696 Have you seen the hard work/struggles/mental strength that goes with becoming a successful entrepreneur.. I stopped using emails over 10 years ago .... catch up plebs
Resonates so well with my work ethic and lifestyle I would like to adapt to and that’s absolutely okay and fair. Corporates have been living in a world where they treat their company is important over basic rights. Lots need to change in the workplace. Certainly boomers are not really bad after all. We just need to have the conversation to find a common ground.
And here I am working for same company from 19 years.
People stop working after 20 years. And I am thinking about starting my career. Cause I was so badly exploited.
Basically enjoying freedom WITHOUT any accountability 😂😂😂.
It's time the earlier generation/s think more about how to die out peacefully/willingly/without depending on others......rather than worrying what future we are leaving behind for our kids syndrome 😉
Let’s wait for responsibilities they will adapt 😂 you can’t stay Gen-Z forever
exactly, every generation has its own cult. I remember when my generation was trending, we used to dress like a punk rock and twist of metal heads.
but they can't identify their own gender now, i doubt they'll have responsibilities for their very existence is based on resposibilities avoidance.
wow these are kinda discussions we want, which look into the future not too clinging on the past. Thank you for this awareness.
😁😁😁
Culture of weed & Sukha nasha is quite common in Zen Z ..they take short cut to handle pressure ..and after some time performance comes down ..i am not being generic
Get a life. Every generation has their style of working.
1:23 Some don't want to show up to work. *WTF* bro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Work from home exists.
Due to unnecessary formalities their presence was required when their work alone can do the job. They could simply send their work through e-mail. Obviously it only works for jobs like software and stuff.
@@Beee1217 OK, so that's what it meant. I thought they wanted to get paid for free.
Gen-Z’s are redefining work culture it’s so admiring
Gen z, our productivity is peak at night.
Anyway sleep atleast 7 hours a day. Otherwise after mid 30's your body will be in struggle
Born in 70s and 80s are sanwiched between old and new. We r middle of nowhere. We listened to our parents, we thought our children will listen to us. Unfortunately, world has changed drastically by the time we had children. So, now we have to listen to children. We are the last generation who saw life without mobile, without social media and so many things which GenG cant live without. Feeling sorry for us 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
Already doing this to my gen z team, open talk, mojis, brain stormer discussion, mutual learning... expecting one thing get the work done that's it
So relatable !! Its like palki is talking about my kids
Palki think about journalism and how you will tackle gen z for quality media news
customer support in future:
Customer: My phone is freaking out.
Support: yo bro chillout, drop yo pne by tmw in our place
Ai will take over support soon
Interestingly, I'm a boomer recovering CPTSD. Contemplating reentering the workforce, I relate strongly with this Gen Z, 'its about me' attitude. ❤ I'm no good to my employer if I'm distressed. Make it suit me or I don't need it. 😊
🎊💃🎊🕺🎊 All they want is eating junk food, do drugs, party and 3 day work week. 😂
Very good at passing the buck, lazy and I doubt any of them have a routine that is why their kids are ferrel
well guess who raised them 😂
and who do you think gave them the ipads 😂
Don't throw rocks from a glass house
Love this generation, as a millennial I can say I’m very proud of them. As long as the work’s being done, the rest is all needless details!
They want to be themselves. Is anyone going to tell them that nobody gives a f* about their lives?
Great
Very true thats how it should be . Not slaves of any company.
I am gen Z...never bothered to join any company, freedom is what I like to feel every time, not any workers can get this
Warm Regards is what Millenials do too!
night work is extremely unhealthy and ruins the body clock. but i agree with wfh and remote cultures, and less meetings.
ever heard music or watched films? ever heard of routines of artists?
I'm gonna wait and watch
Of course Gen z's are the future. They are just renovating the work style of older generation, nothing bad it is, gotta adapt..
As a millenial.. been doing this.. and being the minority was hard.. luckily.. the genz is backing up ..
What a content. Keep exploring
It's real.। Too good video.

I have respect for gen z. I m with them for the change ❤
I agree. Change is inevitable 🤟
So proud to be GZ because i got a high hope and believe myself i can make whatever i want do in life i love to get more skills in live work place is seasonal cz i don’t want to be a worker forever. Most important thing is we GZs have no recism we care nothing about Color or Religion whoever works and you get benefits from is your race and partner as a human we feel we all same GZ we created our own wold 💪

This is not only about gen z , even we use voice notes, emojis , etc. actually we love to use technology bec we all are tech savvy. Dont blame .
This is all bullshit . Be practical my dears❤❤
I empathize with Gen Z. now it is also called silent attrition, I am happy to see it has caught on.
That is why quality of products and services from companies are on the decline.
I am 1997 born… I have 4 years of experience in total… got thrown out of first company in covid era it was an internship which was supposed to convert to full time job if COVID was not there… and in current company I am working for 2 years and 0% increment on the name of recession and COVID which got over years ago but still these cards are playing when it’s time for increment… so should I stay loyal?
As a millenial, I’m benefiting from this trend. 🎉
Wow what a data report you have been shown, Thank you Pakhi

I am a millenial and I left my lucrative job at a bank cuz I felt choked and chained. Even if you finish your work you can't leave work before 8 pm, as a woman it is even more difficult. They will divide you based om your casts or treat you with angst if you dont support what they say

Gen z hates to hit sales targets.
they have analytical mind but dont have patience for consistency and follow up.
If they are so correct why is mental health such a huge concern for them 😮
Thank you Gen Z, for getting rid of BS at the workplace
Meanwhile Infosys, Ola ceo wants employee to work for 70,140 hours per week.. 🤦🏻♂️
Well watching this report...everything she mentioned is in me...🤐🤐Its a good or bad that depends
These will change the outdated model. All the best Gen Z
3 times is less , I believe the no's are way high most probably close to 10
I work with Gen-Z and they are very hard working and they thrive more in an environment where they allowed to create and propose ideas exemples combine their jobs as a lawyers to defend tenants rights and at the same are tech savy with effortless graphic design skills and very artistic they respect their creative side and thrive to one day be entrepreneurial good for them. To work hard for the corporations for years and be terminated without consideration by emails are some of the recent examples
Tenants rights are a big joke
One day they will face reality and they will become what they want to change..
Meetings and emails are essentials for work efficiency. Mean while Genz should limit themselves playing games and insta on mobile.
We need laws for companies to stick to their 40hr / week
Gen-Z are great, they are living the life and declining the idea of working like a slave for corporate
Its not what Genz wanted- It is you wanted us to believe and show us how we need to be in future.. We can see your agenda :)
Haha , perfect .
Those gen z she mentions are a fraction less than one percent who can afford to do what they want not the people who need to work to feed themselves .
You don't understand, I'll give you an example just look at social media and see these generation's influence.
Which country are you talking about? India? The images you show are foreign people. I am a lecturer /professor in a college. Gen z is struggling with finding work....they might end stereo types...but all is not hunky-dory with them.
I agree!
