  • Global Population Crisis: An Economic Time Bomb | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Experts say that the global population crisis is a "calamity in the making". The global fertility rate stands at 2.1, which is below the 2.2 replacement rate. Fertility is dropping for women across all levels of education and income. It is happening across nations like America, France, UK, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Taiwan, and many others. By end of this century, most nations will see dramatic drop in population, according to reports. Countries are paying a big economic price for declining populations. This is because declining population means slower economic growth. This will have far reaching implications on superpowers like China, Russia and the U.S. A smaller population can diminish global clout of such countries. Question remains, why have countries not been able to fix the population crisis? Why are birth rates declining? Palki Sharma tells you.

Japan is also the world's largest creditor nation, and the United States is Japan's largest debtor. There are a lot of people online who are concerned about Japan's debt, but Japan's debt is internal debt, not external debt, so it's not a problem at all. Cases like Japan's do not apply to all other countries. Because not all countries have the assets, credit, and technological capabilities that Japan has.

Palki is examining this global phenomenon in a vacuum, without considering the broader global trends. We are amidst the fourth industrial revolution, characterized by automation, AI, and robotics transforming manufacturing and production. Consequently, economies will require less human labour, rendering a smaller population advantageous. The traditional notion equating a large population with higher production is obsolete in the wake of the fourth industrial revolution. India's burgeoning population, coupled with a surplus of low-skilled and no-skill labour (low literacy rate), not only will fail to bolster the Indian economy but instead becomes a looming time bomb for an impending socio-economic meltdown. The influence of the fourth industrial revolution will surpass that of the preceding three industrial revolutions combined. Dark days ahead for all who cannot keep up with global trends, especially places where overpopulation is happening such as India.

Imagine there are 20 glasses of water on a table with 5 people around it. Each person would show a lot of empathy and care towards each other, asking if they'd like a glass of water.
Now, imagine the scenario reversed. There are 20 people seated, and only 5 glasses of water are on the table. Here, they might fight, even kill each other, to have that glass of water.
This highlights the concern that World War III could happen over the fight for the greatest resource of all time: water.

The process of shrinking population makes your group vulnerable to groups that are expanding. The members of the group competing for limited and shrinking resources (because they aren’t resources just sitting there - someone needs to make them available) see you as a problem and not one of their own. That’s what happened to the extinct cultures and even the Neanderthals and other hominids whose few remaining members hide from us and we destroy whenever we can. The two species in an ecosystem that fight each other the hardest are the most similar. They are struggling for the same niche. We are the same species but we don’t see it that way so it doesn’t matter. (There’s a fair amount of Neanderthal DNA in humans.) The demographic transition has been known to geographers for tens of years. human populations eventually decline to homeostasis. It’s the height of arrogance not to care about this personally because it’s the only reason you are here. Your ancestors strove. Now, if you really identify with the whole Humans family, have a look at Farmers. They are good and in sync with nature. We are nature, nor are we out of it. (25 points if you get that allusion.)

What about the global confused Christians rate? What about the Abrahamic indoctrination rate? What about the "i never read my own holy book but just regurgitate what some guy in a building says" rate? What about "my religion is literally based on a story of ONE of MULTIPLE Gods followed by ONE family but i refuse to study and understand and rather be blind and deceived by lies" rate?

Overpopulation is the key to all problems of mankind. Most of the countries already crossed the carrying capacity, so population control must be taken seriously, specially in india.

In India too, we have our own mini-crisis. In the 5 of South Indian states (that has 20% population producing 30% national GDP), the fertility has fallen below 2.2 ! This explains the other half of the crisis in the North (if not the rest of India) too. How do we manage this, at national level?

Oh please don't worry, we already have enough people to support another 3 generations even if no one reproduces, but that isn't happening still people are having 2-3 kids.

To hell with economy, we care more about environment. Lesser people means lesser consumption, better lifestyle, richer wildlife and a greener planet. Humans are not the only speices here, we have to get over ourselves to think for the greater good and stop harming other life forms❤

Giving Money can't bring back the situation which is happening because of altered mental reality and perceptions of men and women.
The culture itself has promoted to not to have kids it was made a case of social burden and stigma.
The future is babies born from laboratories with no physical attachment to their mother and father. Which will lead to another huge drop in human rights, family culture and social bondings .

Zambia is the best example of declining population. 2010 census indicated about 16M people and 2022 census indicated an additional of merely 2M+. Meaning that Zambia requires more a century to reach a population of 50M people.

😂 Palki Sharma is obsessed with China and it's embarrassing. China is moving away from depending on factory workers. China installs more automatic machines in their factories than half the entire world. In some factories in China only few people are employed because almost everything is done by machines. 🤣 China thinks far ahead of every other country. By the time China's population declines below 1 billion they will the country would have majority of it's factories running 24/7 because of automatic machines. No other country would be able to compete with China. 😂
