This in my opinion is a big clue that Ygritte wouldve chosen Jon if he tried to convince her south of the wall after turning against the wildlings. That one line “you didnt stop being a crow”, and even with that knowledge Ygritte loved Jon.
He fully intended to spare her following the wildling attack of the wall. Ideally, she would have survived with Tourmond and led the wildlings. But unfortunately, Ygritte was the one who released the arrow that killed Olly’s family. So when he saw his opportunity for revenge, he took it.
when he turns on the wildlings trying to save the old man (idiot) he pushes her down so she DOESN'T. he was trying to protect her. ironically that ends up getting her killed.

I’m pretty sure most of the point of the show is about the ways in which forming strong emotional attachments affect our decision making. For most of the characters, they aren’t just trying to grab power for selfish reasons (except for Otto lol), they’re trying to get power so they can secure their family’s future safety. The whole “children are a weakness” line is what I think best conveys this message. Especially taking Rhaenyra as an example, her motivation surrounding the throne was initially tied only to a desire for her father to value her. Once she had children, her motivations grew more desperate and determined, because of her fear for their safety
The sad part is is she would have came with him and fought with him and had his back if he would have just asked she was ready to die with him and for him but he left her and that's why she got pissed and wanted to kill him. all he had to do is put her in on the plan and she probably would have went to the end of the world for him. But wasn't in the script

In the show it was Olly that killed Ygritte, in the books we actually don't know who killed her if I remember. Jon fell in love with someone having already been given a task by the Halfhand. Some of the best acting in the entire show going on in this scene. Extremely simple and genuine. Lived her character. Sees right through to the truth of him. She's much smarter than the silk wearing ladies. Mutual respect between the two of them.
