Taking a look at the Monomyth demo available on Steam. Hopefully, this will be one of many "King's Field-likes" to come out of the indie scene in the near future.

The underground setting and the baking bread thing is very arx fatalis
Also cleaning your bandages with a water basin is definitely in the magic of Arx Fatalis. Interactive items that make sense and leaves you satisfied.
It's interesting to see a game that looks so retro while not really having any graphical elements that are retro. I love it. I hope this game continues development.
I said "I would love a new King's Field game, on a message board a year or 2 ago, and everybody said "Dark Souls is basically King's Field" Yes they have many similarities, Dark Souls is not a King's Field substitute in my mind. Thak you for this I have already started downloading the demo.
For such a new channel, your audio quality and the couple of edits are really crisp and professional. Not your first rodeo, huh?
It's always awesome to find a new channel dedicated to obscure indie games, I think there's not nearly enough coverage of all the great indie gems tucked away out there.
I come from a more roguelike/lite/immersive sim/boomer shooter background so I haven't played a ton of first person dungeon crawlers, but I have really enjoyed Barony, Beserk Mode, Delver, and a tiny bit of Fight Knight- they're worth taking a look at if you haven't seen any of those out already. Barony's at the top for me in terms of the amount of content and build variety, Beserk Mode is a fun little hack n slash but I blazed through it fairly quickly, Delver is very pretty but very shallow, and Fight Knight has an absolutely banging OST.
Looking forward to more content man, keep it up! :)
Thanks for the support! Glad you like the videos.
Yeah, I've done some video editing in my day, haha.
I'll look into some of the games you mentioned. They sound sweet!
Bone weapon and baking bread definitely a nod towards Arx Fatalis. Arx Fatalis the sun died and the upper world is no longer habitable as it all became like the moon and everyone went underground to live including all the orcs, goblins, dwarves.
King's Field looks like a great game but I never tried it.
Ooo
I havent seen food cooking since arx fatalis
I'm so excited for this game! I've already replayed the demo 4 times and found something new each playthrough. In that room I believe you interact with a book on the shelf to open the secret door. I figured the Search skill would help me find things like that but it didn't. I love using the bouncy mushroom spell to get on top of the starting building. there are neat little secrets hidden everywhere.
The intro skit looks more like Arx Fatalis - the immersive dark fantasy sim - then Kings Field, tbh.
I smell Ultima Underworld but there's some King's Field too I suppose
Probably closer to Arx Fatalis.
@@bizznick444joe7 arx fatalis was originally going to be Ultima Underworld 3. However, you could be right. The dev may never had played UW 1&2
Really well done for a smaller channel, looking forward to new vids!
Thanks for the support! Hope you enjoy!
A serious Arx Fatalis vibe is here. I hope it does not allow to eat during combat in order to heal.
I clicked because King's Field is good, and now I'm like, comment, subscribing for the algorithm because this video was hella good.
Thank you so much! I'm plugging away at more videos, so I hope you enjoy them!
oh no Arx fatalis- im already afraid!
The great prince Crickety Crack, younger brother to Crackety Crack, heir to Crack kingdom that spanned from behind the local 7-11 to the abandoned JC Penny.
I just wish they would get this game going already! lol
I didn't really get a KF vibe when I played the demo. It's way more like Arx Fatalis.
The intro was funny, like a caveman smacking something strange
Love the video!
very Arx Fatalis
What's great about games like this is there is no tutorial, no explanation, no pop up boxes, no NPCs explaining everything that you should and can do. It just tells you no other player BUT me have found out this interesting mechanic that the deveoplers put in the game because there were plenty of secrets like that in Arx Fatalis. Nothing breaks immersion like a pop up box telling you where to go and how to do things. Retro gamers were their own enemy they whined about there not being explanations to do this and that and they ruined later games that explain every damn thing in detail. How was I supposed to know that? You weren't because you didn't git guud that's all there is to it.
There's 6 king's fields games tho the last two aren't fps dungeon crawlers like the others and they were exclusive to jp psp - king's field addtitional 1 & 2. There was also an exclusive jp ps demo disc that's covers the prelude to king's field 3 aka us 2.
theyre unknown for a reason then
Why does everyone talk about Kingsfield but no one talks about Eternal Ring? I would like to see more Eternal Ring style games. (I'm not talking about Elden Ring btw they're not the same)
interactivity is the best sign of a game made with passion .. and this looks moody and relaxing because its a time consuming slowburn .. i just hate the fact that its a demo.. how about when games used to just get '' released''
This game is definitely not my jam, but I wish them the best of luck.
Anyone knows if this game is still under development?
you wat to play a good king's field like game? play lunacid
I already made a video about it before this one.
Elder Scrolls is essentially already a modern day King's Field-esque, except the choice for 3rd person. Prove me wrong
I don't like the gameplay of this game. It's more similar to Arx Fatalis than to King's Field.
Ultima Underworld, UU2 and Arx Fatalis (~ UU3). This is it.
TF is this consolish ***** mentioned here🤦
Because the developer has specifically said, (from their Twitter): "Working on Monomyth, a dungeon crawler inspired by Arx Fatalis, Ultima Underworld & the KING'S FIELD series."
@@dungeonchill
however, UU as the founder of everything is not mentioned,
and on the preview - this parody.
@@kolyaad Fair enough. I didn’t mention UU. I’ll do videos on UU1 and UU2 in the future. Hell, I might even torture myself and do Underworld Ascendant as an act of penance.
@@dungeonchill no, no, no.
No Ascendant 🚯
Arx is the proper Ultima, you know)
@@dungeonchillFair. I never played King's Field so don't have a proper shake on it. But lot of the elements I see here I liked was Arx Fatalish.
