Great video, Pam. And yes, I was one of those who checked out your channel (and a few others) because of that ten-second clip on AVGN :) I agree about the soundtracks, particularly Paradise Killer, which I'll play pretty much anytime, including Game Nights at my house. And while not a big fan of the film Starship Troopers, only because from a military standpoint everyone is so grossly incompetent, I do highly recommend the book and think it would be right up your alley. For something that was written in the 1950s it still holds up today.

He has directed the 3 most violent (mainstream) movies I've seen.
But my two favorite (tied) movies are the two controversial movies of 1994 -- Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump. But I do watch Starship Troopers whenever a rerun comes on...I was 22 the first time I saw it and it made me cringe back then...now I can fall asleep during gratuitous violence 😆

when I first saw that movie I wasn't sure if they were trying to be serious or campy and funny in my younger mind. I mean the part where Dina Myer's character dies kind of threw me off bc they made a big deal about it. lol

Starship Troopers is my favorite movie as well. It's my comfort movie. I watch it every few weeks when winding down before bed.

Great upload, Highly recommend final fantasy tactics and wild arms 1 in particular. I only played ff tactics for first time last year and I loved it though it does take a few hours to really get going and for combat to really open up. Wild arms 1 is so unique with its western setting and incredible unique music.

For future QAs would you consider answering, which 2-4 videos are a good primer for understanding your point of view and channel. BTW, the bit with your dog was funny. Well, now there's a film I need to check out. I haven't heard of it before but "what Tomb Raider should have been" has me intrigued.
Also, interesting to hear the origin story! I stumbled upon your channel back when it was pretty small (about 1,000 subs if I recall correctly) but I had no idea there had been a blog too.
Starship Troopers is an adaptation of a 1950’s dystopian novel. Also I loved winery hopping along the Erie peninsula in Canada . Lots of fun.
Funny fact is that the guy who wrote the novel, never thought about it as dystopian. He was convinced fascist, which makes the movie even greater as a mockery of the original material.

The Wild Arms series is phenomenal 2 and 5 are my favorites the series also has some stellar music that you'll no doubt get hooked on.

We have jade plants at our place too, love those things! They really start to replicate when you create little baby ones, too

Regarding the last question, I'm guessing the more appropriate question would be "do you have a significant other"? Even though I genuinely think that's none of our business.
I've never been one for plants either, but I have been taking care of two at work after coworkers left them behind when they quit. It's been kind of enjoyable in a zen sort of way.
Didn't even need to read the description to know where the background music came from. Recognized it on the first song, never realized how memorable it was til now tho.

The Dig episode was fantastic. Deep dives on other games (successful or not) that were in longterm development hell would be really interesting.
I was definitely too young to watch Starship Troppers when I did. So a lot of the satire went over my head at such a young age to process what the movie was doing. But then I got older and realized what it was. And thankfully I turned ok too lol
As far as "niche" goes I personally follow because our taste in games seems close enough I can use your opinion to help me decide whether a game is worth me skipping, buying, or just watching a LP. Even though our definition of difficulty on platformers seems to differ 😅

definitely look forward to the day when and if you review Final Fantasy Tactics... if you do, review 'The War of the Lions' version which is on PSP.... ive beaten the original version on Playstation at least twice before and 'The War of the Lions' version once and im currently playing it again and just got to the 4th chapter....

Italy is amazing! We did a wine tasting tour in Tuscany with the most amazing tour guide. At one point he started a serenade with his guitar, was hilarious. Amazing food too that day. It's a shame we didn't spend longer there.

I love Starship Troopers! It came out when I was in college and taking a film class, my professor felt he had to go see it just because of all the hate he was hearing about it at the time. He was also a big Verhoeven fan, heck Showgirls was on our syllabus. He came back the next class after seeing ST and gave a great review/defense of it, probably convincing at least a few of the more snooty students who thought they knew what "good" cinema was. I eventually saw the movie myself, and I guess I can understand that it's not for everyone but the scathing humor/commentary was right up my alley.

I've enjoyed your videos on Metroidvania games, which are my favorite genre by far. My physical/digital Switch collection is full of them (It's an addiction at this point). Agree on Silk Song being on top of most-anticipated list... that and the next Blasphemous.
Bought physical Ender Lillies based on your recommendation, so looking forward to trying that next year when it finally decides to show up from LRG.

Cool, I like FMV games too. I tried Her story after you mentioned it in your review. I liked it, the acting was good I thought. the one complaint I had was the story - it seemed to reach its conclusion a little suddenly for my liking, and the Polybius code didnt lead to anything as far as I could tell. Also, when I used to drink, I liked wine too (rather too much of it, but there we go, lol). Cool video, and I liked the story of how you got your channel name. :o)
I love Pam’s love for PE. I remember being like 11 picking it up with my mom (for the ff8 demo) what an amazing soundtrack. I also remember renting starship troopers around the same time. I was one of those cool, edgy 90s kids!

I think many people would be surprised at how much fun Pong can be. I also believe there are people still playing hardcore classic roguelikes, ASCII and all.
I've actually been following your channel since I think 2015? 2016? I was looking into retro creators because I wanted to try and make some friends since I was working to be a retro game streamer. I've since dropped that since it was kind of a trendy idea in my mind at the time and I was doing it for the wrong reasons. I love retro games, but it's a hobby of mine I keep to myself. Music is my main passion, however, and it helped me discover that.
In that process, I kept coming back to your videos for one main reason: I love the titles you cover. Keep up the good work, friend! I love what you do! :)

Thanks for posting answer. It's interesting watching how a content creator answers these typical questions, especially the more personal one at the end. I am glad to see I'm not the only one who prefers "green olives" on pizza. Wonder what the percentage of the general population prefer green olives? Now your other pizza choices sounded nice, even though I would more a pepperoni person than a Italian sausage, but to each their own. Your favorite movie choice was very interesting indeed. It's one of my favorites too, right next to "Clue" and Monty "Python's Holy Grail", "Life of Brian", "Time Bandits", "The Jabberwocky", "Men in Tights", and "The Prince's Bride." Too bad about season 8 of Game of Thrones. Was probably one of the best fantasy series until than. Loved the "Oscar the Grouch" blouse. Brought back some very fond childhood memories of listening to his song. You mentioned Wines which I dabbled in once I grew to like them. My youth was more into strength of liquor over taste. Long Island Ice Tea and diet coke and bourbon were my choices. They say age does mellow one and after decades of drinking the hard stuff, I've grown to enjoy a glass of blush or two on occasion. Some say you tell a lot about a person by their wine preferences, well if that was true, I guess I'd be a middle of the road sort of fellow. LOL!!! Anyway, thanks again for sharing a little bit of your self with your audience.
I guess im one of those oddities that dont mind early 3d games, at the very least stuff like resident evil (fix camera angles tank controls etc)
they are great to me and am glad theres still new releases in that style to this day that proves there is still an audience despite the discontent we would hear the opposite.

Life is so diverse. As a translator, proofreader, writer and poet from Brazil, I know portuguese native, Advance english, some italian, vietnamese and japanese. Not perfectly, but I get by. You, on the other hand, have this amazing charisma, strong magnetic personality and talent in front of a screen. I could not replicate It for the life of me. Congratulations on your talents!
I love Walton Goggins too. He's gonna be in the fallout tv show so I can't wait for that. Also starship troopers is amazing. I loved it as a kid and there was a new layer to it when I read it as an adult.

It's weird, but my primary memory of "Starship Troopers" is the overseas titling. I do not remember what country it was, but it was retitled "Star Trek Lite" in one of the foreign releases.
