I'm wondering: how traditional is this design? I know *very little* about Chinese woodworking, but I was expecting at least that the bottom part, with the frame and panel, have a pair of sliding dovetails to anchor the frame to the panel. the *style* is certainly very traditional, but how about the way you've made it?

When you are working, do you saw on the pencil line or do you saw next to it, leaving the line in place? Your work is so accurate, I am interested what you find works best for getting such clean and precise work. Or alternatively do you find a knife line better in some/most situations?

great work, well done, looks stunning. but ... this is 100% european joinery, even if you use japanese tools, it doesnt make it ancient chinese. the only chinese on this box is the dude who made it and the signs you burned in it. might overthink the title next time.
