The Tools & Equipment I use- kit.co/nickpedulla
This custom made Watch/Jewellery Box is made from Walnut and Copper. The drawers are made from Tasmanian Oak with handmade Walnut dowels.
I don’t normally build small pieces like this but it was a special build for a repeat client of mine based on a Record Cabinet I built them in a similar design.
The entire box has been made from Walnut that comes from the same board as I wanted grain and colour continuity throughout the piece.
The handles are made from solid copper round bar and the shadow lines have been made from custom cut copper sheet. Both have been polished and coated in a spray lacquer to prevent tarnishing.
I’ve glued the copper sheet shadow line to a rebate in the walnut top and bottom. This presents some potential issues with expansion and contraction as the copper runs across the wood grain. There is a slight amount of flex from the very thin copper sheet although I wouldn’t totally rely on this, but from the many tests and samples I have done in the past this hasn’t been an issue as of yet.
This piece has been designed to fit my clients watch collection. The box sits twelve watches and has a compartment to fit other jewellery like rings and necklaces.
Standard Questions-
- What glue do I use? Titebond 3
- What finish do I use? Osmo Oil satin

Gear I Use- kit.co/nickpedulla - Jak na to + styl
I’m experimenting with some new lighting techniques in this video. They’re not 100% dialled in yet but I’ll get there eventually. I would love to know what you think?
feels perfect to me.
The lighting is much better
Maybe don’t wear all black? Occasionally looks like two disembodied arms pushing material through machines.
Amazing ! Especially the final part when we see your realisation !
it's really good! do you get these looks only through the different lighting while filming or also with color correction afterwards?
Pencil sharpener for the dowel tapers.. BRILLIANT! You just taught me something.
Every piece of equipment it was like, "Well I'll never afford that" and then BAM! Pencil Sharpener. I literally laughed when I saw that. So funny. So smart.
FINALLY! Someone on CZcams who knows how to correctly use a sliding table saw!!!
Seriously beautiful work and video man.
Thanks Blake!
that drawer handle design is spectacular!
You do excellent work. I appreciate you never ending attention to detail. I am 73 years old today and I admit I learn from you and I am proud to admit that. Thankyou.
Incredible the number of techniques I learned! That's the beauty of CZcams, every one could have the best teachers. Thank you for sharing your skills.
Awesome! Thank you for watching
This is next level amazing.
Design, craftsmanship, techniques, materials, coloring, grain selection. All of it. And the cinematography is incredible.
Why did i leave this in my watch later file for two weeks. This was inspirational. Very well done.

Well said
You have given me new inspiration. While you build a box, you never limit yourself to the box. Thinking outside the box to build the box into something more than a box.
Finally getting a chance to watch this one - fantastic Nick
Thanks for watching Jon!
that's not a box, that's art with a practical use !
Seriously beautiful
Thank you
You Sir are like a fine wine to watch. I respect your craftmanship so greatly. Thank you for sharing with us mere normal woodworkers.
Simple elegance at it's finest.
Lighting looked spot on to me.
Thank you
Dovetail joints would look beautiful on this as the contrasting colours would stand out. But it's so cute!
It’s not even funny how good you are, Nick.
Incredible, just incredible
So inspiring to watch you work your craft
Thanks so much! Thats very kind of you
I think the ordinary wooden box is still a test of a craftman's skill. You need all the same skills you use to create your larger pieces. And the result? Something that is intriguing still. I love the styling reminiscent of Moderne, and the move away from the expected in the joinery. The draws with the dowels instead of dovetails - which would weaken the design theme. I love how that choice echoes the draw pulls, and their recess, and is carried through the whole piece. Repetition is legitimation of a theme, and your understanding of how to execute a design to communicate to the observer what you want is a delight. Bravo.
I can feel you're connected with your work piece every time you work . It's only the reason brings your products a gorgeous look.
Thank so much
I'm starting on retirement, working part time only & buying more woodworking tools all the time. Your work is inspirational & I learn so much. I'll never have the tools you have but for me it's a hobby only, just takes longer to get done. Ton's of idea's from watching your stuff, thanks for posting.
I'm exactly like Robert Groves and who is walking the same pathway. I too am amazed at Nick's professionalism and skill set. Yes he does has some big $$ equipment (he is a Pro) but he also has much the same gear that we have already in our smaller wood shops. Although I have been wood working for several decades, I feel I have taken a quantum leap in my skill set recently thanks to Pro experts like Nick who are putting in so much at his expense into making these YT's for us to enjoy and learn from. I'm now 1 of Nick's Patreons - least I can do to support this work. I very much doubt that I will acquire the fabulous Artistic flare Nick has - it's hard to learn that, but we can sit back and appreciate/ enjoy this side of his craft.
Happy Retirement!
Ma man, you are not only a carpenter, you are also an artist!
I just binge watched all of your videos and now I’m bummed that there aren’t any more. You do incredible work, sir!
It’s 10:30pm on Friday night and I suddenly feel the need to go vacuum my workshop! Awesome setup, equally awesome talent. Much respect!
It was spotless wasn't it :D
I love the way you keep your workshop so clean. Almost all your cutting and sanding machines have vacuum attachments on it. Must be a joy to start and end the day without having to clean up after yourself that much. And not to mention the health benefits of not inhaling the dust.
The box is beautifully made. Awesome craftmanship👍
Thank you
This is absolutely one of the most high speed craftsmanship I have seen. Brilliant!!!
Thank you
OH! So beautiful and useful!
Thank you
Pro woodworker? dude you're an ELITE WWOODWORKER!
Awe inspiring! Your video photography is as professional as you wood work! Watching this is a revelation of what can be!
it's not only the craftsmanship for me. It's also the quality of the videos that are just amazing!!
Thanks so much!
Incredible. Such attention to detail are not often seen these days!
crazy, you are not a carpenter, you are an artist. Congratulations boy. Never seen creating with wood the way you do.
Thank you
Absolutely incredible. I could watch this all day every day and the videography and lighting is outstanding my man! Well done.
What a pleasure to sit and watch a master craftsman producing a work of art. Sir, you are an artisan in the true sense of the word, thank you.
TImeless and beautiful. Watching you work is helping me to learn to slow everything down in the shop. Be in the moment, work carefully and with a purpose.
Thanks so much
The design elements of your pieces are awesome...impeccable work!
the lighting and filmmaking is as beautiful as your woodworking!
I rarely leave a comment.
However, I have rarely seen anything as beautiful and wonderful that impresses me as this. My highest respect for such elaborate and ingenious handwork... The time and effort that goes into it too - hats off!!!
Mesmerizing! This is pure luxury and good taste. Can’t stop watching.
Awesome, thanks for watching
I think your video quality is fantastic; and I love your shop. But it’s your workmanship and attention to detail that blows my mind. You are so young to be such a master of your craft. This watch box is absolutely gorgeous. Great job all the way around. Think,I will like and follow. Even a 58 year old with 30 years of making things can learn from you. I feel so inspired… think I’ll head out to my shop now. Thanks!
functional, elegant, just really pretty work and workmanship.
First time watching and I had to subscribe. Your precision and tool skills are second to none. And that's coming from a high end bespoke joiner that's been doing this for 16 years! Even sealing the brass. Top work. Great filming too
I love the "feel" of your vids, very peaceful. You are a true craftsman and artist. Your designs are stunning, I love the thoughtfulness you put into each piece.
Thanks so much!
I'm a cabinet maker and I'm really impressed with your work.
These videos have lowered my blood pressure back to normal levels 😊
What a great job you did on the box, beautiful piece of furniture Nick! I've loved working on wood projects now for 45 year's and I wish I had a shop like yours. Keep putting out your videos and I'll keep watching them. By watching your videos it really gives me good idea's but truly helps me get better. 👍
I am absolutely addicted to this content! I’ve been looking for quality woodworking videos for a long time and finally it’s arrived! Absolute masterpieces.
The art is so amazing ! The woodworking technique is amazing
The second time I have washed this video, and it is very appreciable. Thank you.
Gorgeous piece. Precision artistry. I love it.
Nick will make give up even before I start to make some furniture. This is just unbelievable! Design, Detail, Perfection and Love!! So beautiful and eye-catching!
I’m a sucker for walnut….and copper….and watches. WOW this is gorgeous.
That copper inlay is crazy! I love the handmade hardware.
Thanks
From one Nick to another, I prefer this style of video. I've been watching your videos for years and, in my mind, you were an artist who uses wood as your medium.
The new commentary style brings a level of human fallibility, but there are enough makers who provide that style of imperfect appeal (I'm sure we all follow that same channels).
In my mind, I had you elevated with the channels like New Yorkshire Workshop, This is My Alaska, and Doucette and Wolfe.
Btw, I'm using this particular video as a template for a jewelry box build right now!
Beautiful work.
That is so gorgeous! Love the handle design. I kept thinking how cool that handle would be on all the drawers in a kitchen!🥰
All of your work is so beautiful. Just amazing. Thank you.
Love watching you make and assemble your projects. This piece is very beautiful. Your technics and your jigs have taught me so much. Great job as usual.
Awesome. Thank you
Just discovered your channel amongst the numerous others out there. What sets it apart is the design of the pieces. Very unique and individual. Inspiring stuff.
Thanks so much
Beautiful work, very nicely filmed. Really appreciate the attention to detail and the amazing precision. Thank you! Please keep producing films.
thank you
I have to say, I love the lighting. Hands down whatever you are working on is what this video is about. I love the different shades and shadows that you really see. I would illuminate with purpose. You have made me a permanent viewer.
Thanks so much
This is so beautiful
Brilliant design & execution... thank you for sharing such a wealth of inspiration.
You take a simple box and turn it into a work of art, you are amazing! I hope to obtain just half as much skill as you do, someday!
So, SHICK lovely great work and there music course! thanks.
Exquisite craftsmanship!
Thank you
As a lighting designer with 30 plus years experience I would say you are doing some nice lighting. If I may offer a suggestion, the lighting for the tablesaw is too frontal. Try bringing it in from the left side of camera highlighting the blade area more. Beautiful work and your shop is amazing. Cheers
Thanks for the helpful advice
Really beautifull craftsmanship! Its so simple, but the "simple" details like the brass band around the top and bottom, and the brass pullbars really gives it such a luxury look!
Thanks. Its copper not brass by the way
@@pedullastudio aah, in my defence, i was watching on my tiny tablet screen so I couldn't see the difference 😉 but still, great detail
Beautiful wood, excellent work and nice video! Thank you!!! The lighting is very nice!
I really love the contrast with the dark walnut and copper inlay. I also am inspired by your shop and the tools you have acquired. Hopefully one day I can put in the work necessary to achieve something similar. Thanks for sharing the stunning art work!
Thank for the comment
@@pedullastudio Do you have the plan for this box on patreon?, looking to make this for my industrial technology class
Another project that destroys the spirit, it's so beautiful. The combination of copper and walnut is just sublime. Bravo
The best woodworker i’ve ever see
WoW! You have a gigantic workshop, and all, if not most, of woodworking power tools available in the market. Is this what you do for a living or just a hobby? Love your work here.
Another awesome video! Thank you for taking time to film, edit and post this video.
This is amazing! I really like the contrast between the walnut and the watches, a very sturdy design. love it!
Cheers
Outstanding design and craftsmanship!
What a beautiful box. Your craftsmanship is truly amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Beginning to think you spend more time on the video editing than the woodwork Nick ;) Top quality in both respects, well done.
Not far off mate
The pencil sharpener idea is brilliant
Wow, what a beautiful piece of art. Very nice work, thanks for sharing 👍🏿
That is a magnificent piece of craftsmanship
bravo Nick,
Finally a video i could stand to watch till the end. Well done!
Indeed you are professional
Stunningly beautiful. Your wood shop would be stuff of dreams. I love how this piece doesn’t have complicated joinery. Your videos are top notch and I enjoy them very much (just wish there was more of them). Happy memorial day weekend
Thanks for the comment

Thank you
Very impressive - design, skills and the box. Thanks for sharing.
I go back and watch this video when I feel like I have lost the drive to get in the shop. It is one of my favorite videos...
Those draw pulls look amazing. Very nicely done
