- My discovery flight in a Piper Cherokee. This was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend taking a discovery flight even if your not an aviation fan. It's a once in a lifetime experience!

A few days ago i had my discovery flight and it was awesome. Went up in the same plane, ran through the checklists, then after my instructor took off he handed me the controls. I did a pattern then touch n go. Then he helped me land it, cus my touch and go was a bit rough but right on the line.
I'm going to be taking lessons until school starts back, im 15. Then hopefully on my birthday I can solo
Sounds like a great flight! Flying these kinds of planes are really something special. Hopefully you can get your hours and training in before your birthday so you can complete your solo :)

My first discovery flight is tomorrow at 11. Very nervous but excited. I’m on step one to achieve my dream I’ve had since I was a kid

Good stuff, stalls are nothing to fear, and with an FI beside you, perfectly safe. They teach you them so you get an idea of how the aircraft behaves approaching and entering a stall. I think we fear more what it might be like, rather than the actual stall. Very important particularly at low alts, like in a circuit turning base or final, for example. Heaps of other situations also, like graduating to a high performance aircraft, thats nowhere near as forgiving as a Cherokee. Not picking on Mooneys here, but they can have a quite abrupt stall, and you need to recognise the onset of a stall/incipient spin and take remedial action before it happens. Practice practice practice is the go. Good luck with your training.

Been there many a time, since a 1975 airshow where we got to see a Harrier jump jet demonstrated. Wonderful airport, with a wonderful museum. My sister lives just down the road.

The more you know the better! Then you can focus more on the fun part instead of trying to figure out what the heck is going on the entire time :)

WOW! I did my first solo in this plane back in Sept 2020. Loved that plane. Sadly it's been sitting without a prop for months now. Not sure what they'll do with it. Supposed to be for sale. The other piper is waiting on the engine to come back for repair, N4323X

Good for YOU !!!! Great Video - thanks for sharing your experience. I'm 65 years old and it's always been my dream to fly an airplane. Maybe it'll come true for me some day...….(I'm Reg/Green color blind - so I may only get to go as far as a "Discovery Flight" - but It will be worth it I'm SURE!!! I lived in Gilbert for 27 years and own a 2nd home just south of Falcon Field. I've seen many kinds of aircraft flying in and out of Falcon Field over the years.
You should absolutely go for it! It is worth EVERY PENNY I swear. AZ is one of the best places to do it, and I think there's probably discovery flights pretty frequently at Falcon Field. Hope you can accomplish your dream, and stay safe!
actually red green colorblind is no problem at all! When you get your PPL, you cannot fly at night by yourself, you must have another pilot/CFI with you, but other than that go for it
I remember my first discovery flight. Scared the mess out of me! Decided to fly again anyway.

I did a discovery flight a couple days ago. I learned more in this 16 minute vid than the hour the CFI spent with me during that flight
The CFI in this video was a really good teacher, and like any kind of teaching experience, the person teaching can make all the difference. If you don't have a good teacher, who wants to show you everything, it won't make for as good of a flight. Glad you were able tp pick up some things you missed :D

Falcon Field! I live a few miles from there and have done hundreds of touch and go's there in my C172 home cockpit. I'm hoping to take lessons there one day.
Oooh. That sounds like a nice place to learn! Arizona is one of the best places to learn how to fly cause it's so beautiful!
There are so many videos on youtube which either anc-out the engine at the start or are covered with music. I love you for the real, true sound. It was quite a surprise. :D

As I student pilot I would recommend you to sign in flight school , another words to start learning to fly.
discovery flight is cool but getting to see a B-25 Mitchell landing while on your discovery flight is cooler

So I don’t know if you continued your path on aviation or not but if you did not the reason it was so bumpy was because it was such a clear sunny day as the sun heats up the ground it creates thermals and that’s what bounces you around

Most bugs I have ever seen on an aircraft. How many wings did that Piper Cherokee have? I counted 100,000 give or take
@USAv8tor lol. More wings just means more lift. Guess thats what happens when you leave your plane out in the desert and don't wash it. 😆

You said "we run the engine up to full power" for run up! 2000 RPM is not full power.
Yeah, @brandon D, you're right. I meant that more as a general statement for "testing the engine" than actually going to full power, but thanks for pointing that out! :3

Spaghetti with butter and garlic: prepare spaghetti by package directions and then drain. Add 4 cloves of minced garlic and 2 tablespoons of butter. Mix well until the butter has melted and served with a side of garlic bread.
Very nice. Would recommend roasting the garlic cloves or frying them before mixing into the pasta to get rid of the unpleasant acid taste of the garlic and leave behind the flavor we love. Also, for a good creamy sauce, add 1 part half and half, 3 parts parmesan cheese, 1 part mozzarella, and salt and pepper to taste
