- Long time no see! I'm still building and flying and hope to get back into video production.
After the first phase of making videos dialing in the basic construction techniques and offering a few designs I need help determining how I can best contribute to the foamboard scratchbuild community.
What do you want to build? What problems are you having? What ideas do you have? What limits do you want to push?
Let me know by posting your own videos and/or emailing me at experimentalairlines@gmail.com - Věda a technologie
2016 just became more interesting. Welcome back Ed.
+Andrew Newton Well said, Andrew! It will be great to see Ed more often.
+Andrew Newton
Ed and Andrew, you both have been incredibly inspiring and helpful to me as a new RC plane enthusiast. I’ve obsessively watched all of your videos and have tried many of the techniques you both have shown on numerous planes with much success. Thank you both so much for all of the time you have taken to put together your instructional videos. I am now a volunteer STEM teacher at a local highschool where we have several teams building RC foam planes using your techniques! The kids are really enjoying the class, and I’m enjoying teaching this great hobby as a fun way to apply STEM. FYI, I’ve got a ton of raw video footage of the experience that I’ll cut together for a youtube video at the end of the school year, and I’ll make sure you both get the link J. We owe our success to you both.
+Jim LeMieux Thanks Jim, great story. I'd love to see the video.
@@AndrewNewton This would be a terrific happy new years title for Jan 1, 2019.
Good to see you in the new year.
It's awesome that you let your daughter add her personal touch to your planes. Great dad.
Great to see you back, you were missed. As always thank you for sharing...
great to see you back Ed,nice work shop.have a great year.
WELCOME BACK... We miss you. so so glad to see you again.
Welcome back Ed, looking forward to seeing your future videos!
Good to see you back Ed, Look forward to your tutelage, Still in the Crash and Burn club but not giving up. You've kept the hobby affordable for me, Thanks !
As Andrew said ' Welcome back Ed ' i always enjoy watching your video's
Your plane designs helped me think out of the box as i began the RC plane hobby. If i had any suggestion, it would be to encourage strengthening the fuselage with dowels, carbon fiber, arrows etc. For Beginner's that can't always have a good flight, it will help the planes longevity, and it's inexpensive. Thanks for the good content and ideas Ed, glad your doing good and making videos again.
+Calvin Erickson It's a good point. I do include CF members in some fuselage designs which also serve as the rubber band wing attachment points. I've also taken to using 3M Extreme Packing Tape to line the outside (and sometimes the inside too) of fuselage tubes for certain planes that need it. It makes the fuselages very stiff.
Holy cow, Ed's back and 2016 means I need to get more foam-board. Welcome back sir, and thank you getting us flying so well in 2014/2015!!
Happy to hear from you again. You were my intro to the hobby.
Welcome back Ed. You and Andrew Newton are our one of the most important inspiring guru's for scratch build. Nice to see you :)
And happy new years for everydoby!
So glad to see you back Ed. Hope the move went well for you and the family.
Ed at Experimental Airlines got me started in making , 1 dollar
foamboard with hot glue , RC Airplanes , over 10 Years ago ! ... I spent
a lot of enjoyable time and money since then ! ... Then the Racers and
Building Bombers took the Attention ... The Need for Speed and flipped
out flying became popular ... Then the Rules and Regulations came in ,
quashing the whole Hobby ! ... But the Government took over with their
Police , Military , Spy and Corporate Drones , now in Common Use ....
while the People trying to enjoy the Freedom of Flying , get their Wings
, more and more Clipped ! ... Welcome to Amerika ..... Now lineup and
take your Flew Shot !
The legend continues. It 's great to see you back Ed , looking forward to your future designs. And it was very nice for my son and I to meet you at flite fest this past year. Thanks and I hope you have a good new year.
Glad to have you back! Your videos have always been educational, inspiring and fun! Enjoy the somewhat cooler weather this summer! Happy flying!
Best of luck to you and yours, Ed! Keep up the good work!
Beautiful place you have there, too.
The Man, The Myth, The Living Legend.👍
Wow. Great!
My builds have become lighter and stronger thanks too You.
Look forward to new videos!
Maybe You can release some indoors designs
@ExperimentalAirlines Thank you for all you do and for your patience in describing clearly! Finally with your videos and those of @Andrew Newton, I realized my autonomously airplanes FPV 160 cm. and 180 cm. and I have completely abandoned Skyhunter, Talon and EPP FPV by HK. Now I can build my ideal plane, with little money and amusing myself so much
Excellent. Glad to have you back, Ed. You might remember I met you at Flite Fest - I was the one with the fold up, Velcro fastened Versa wing.
Great to see you back. And...welcome to this side of the country.
Ed, so good to see you back built and am still enjoying the photon and is still one of my favorites can't wait to see what you come up with this year.
This is great news, Ed! I'm returning to RC flight after a 15-20 year hiatus, and I was just today starting to practice covering foam board with packing tape. An APD is the first of your designs that is on my list.
Welcome to the East Coast - I'm from NJ originally, but got sick of bad winters and moved to NC.
Dwight
Welcome back Ed. Looking forward to seeing the production coming out of that upgraded shop. Happy flying!
Glad and relieved to see you back. Best wishes for 2016 from Austria.
Welcome back man, you've inspired me a lot in the past and have really help me take some steps towards getting into the hobby, please update as much as you can and I (and hopefully others) will do our part to give back to you. Thank you so much I've derived a ton from your content.

Welcome to the East Coast Ed!!! Don't mind the colder weather...
Welcome back, Ed! you've been missed!
Looking forwards to heaps more videos from you Ed :D I've always liked the i10, well the look of it, I think it would be great if you could do a video on it sharing your thoughts on it in more detail. Oh and Happy New Year to you and your family :D
Welcome Back Ed! UR vids really taught me a lot, don't think i've miss one.
Fantastic to see you back Ed,
Welcome back. My Noob Tube died of old age and my Axon was lost in the Sierras. My Photon will maiden in a few days. Drive on Ed!
Great to see you back on the Tube. love what you did with proton. Love the detail you go into about the flight characteristics and building design features. Again great that you are back.
Glad to have you back, and close to my area.
Yeah. Ed is back. Was a pleasure to meet you last summer at Flite Fest.
So good to see you posting again. Really enjoy all your videos.

Congrats. I'm happy to see you back. I'm looking forward to watch your videos and listening to your helpful insights.Regards from SoCal
Yes! You're back! You were my first CZcams subscription and my inspiration for my channel . We must have ben cut from the same cloth because I use some of the same techniques you use and have learned other things I would have never thought of from you. I hope you enjoy Virginia and if you ever want to check out Vermont I would love to share one of our free fields and do some flying! Its beautiful here in the summer and fall.
Great to see you back on line. I have to admit I am a little disappointed that you left Phoenix (feels like I lost a friend), but good luck with your eastern adventures! Your building techniques have helped us all and your ideas are inspirational. We'll be watching for your future posts.
Welcome back Ed - you were missed
Yea! Glad your back in business!
Wishing you a safe and Happy New Year with plenty of flying.
Glad to see you back.
Great to see you back ED,
Good to see you back! Here's some ideas for designs and videos: DLG, variable chord Armin type wings, VTOL. A small and manueverable fpv plane.
Wow - glad you're back! Your building techniques are the foundation of my planes.
The symmetrical airfoil using dollar tree foam is very interesting, as is the carbon-boom glider.
I made a distance fpv plane with a rear engine and mid-wing design, inspired by you and Wayne RC (the CP60). I'd love some ideas to improve this design in terms of easier CG, dutch roll problems, etc. Please see my most recent vids - thanks!
Nice to see you back. I finally got around to building the Donkey. Building was easier than I thought. Can't wait to see more designs.
So happy to see your back here on youtube. Looking forward to your new videos. Looks like you have some great things to show us. :)
Keep on Keeping on Ed
Happy New Year, Ed! Congrats on the move, we moved into our new house last May and still can't park the cars in the new garage! LOL I just did the maiden today on my FT Old Fogey. Video on my channel.
Welcome back Ed. I am looking forward to any new videos you post.

Great to have you back. Can't wait for more videos.
Ed! We missed you! Happy 2016, can't wait for more awesome videos!
It is good to see you back, look forward to your videos in the new year.
Nice to see you back Ed. Hope you had a good Christmas and new year. The blue plane looks like the classic 'Ugly Stik' so maybe you could call that one the 'Fugly Stik'
Heres to lots more building, experimenting and flying in 2016
I just built my first trial run at a fuse tube using a scrap piece of somewhat damaged foam I had left over. Considering how long I actually spent on it, small work space, half dried up glue, and making a couple of mistakes leading to cracking one fold a bit. It actually turned out ok. Could actually be used, except that it is only about 22 inches long. Been in this hobby a long time and never built a totally scratch built plane...got to pick up a few items that I learned I need by doing this test build, including some fresh Gorilla glue and longer pieces of support / clamp material and I'll be good to go. Leaning towards the AXON for a first build as I've been out of fixed wing a while and need a good trainer.
So glad to see you back Ed! Can't wait to see more of your stuff. Maybe you can get to Flitefest 2016. Your not too far now! Take Care!
so glad you're back can't wait to see what you'll come up with.
Nice update!! I have to say you brought a lot of knowledge and creativity to the scratchbuilding community
Well done video sir! I am recovering from arm surgery and I enjoyed watching your video since I am stuck inside. - Jeremy
Glad your back! Great videos. Thank you
Nice to hear from you again!!
Nice to see you back Ed!!
Welcome back Ed looking forward to more videos.
Interesting - nice to see new stuff from you!
Hello Ed! Happy New year!!! One of the very first models that I've built and actually learned how to fly was one of your designs, Photon Glider! Keep the awesome work!!! Hope to see more of your videos soon!
My year just got busier, now I have to build an EA plane as well, welcome back Ed.
Oh man I am so happy your back! Ed your 90% of the reason I started flying again 2 years ago. I have about 15 different EA planes in my shop right now. I have really not flown much at all in the last 6 months just because the hobby is so fricken expensive. But your videos always remind me that it can be done on budget!!!Happy new year to you and your family!
Good to see you Ed.
I've got some tubes and wings built that have probably been sitting behind my desk for over a year now. Even one for a bi-plane idea that I need to get back to. I guess that's one effect of not crashing as often...I don't need to build as often, but I do plan to try to get back to it this next year. Still rock'n my Axon...does great for that aerial footage! I also really need to get back to FPV.
welcome back, love all your videos. happy 2016 to you.
Just watched your video here Ed. Wishing all the best! Always enjoy watching your videos 😊

Welcome back Ed. Happy new year!
Probably one of the best pieces of news I could have hoped for going into 2016 - welcome back!
So good to see you again mate!!
Awesome.. Looking forward to it.
Welcome Back and Happy New Year Ed.. Glad to see you back your video was the main start in my foamboard building when I took it to my local flying club for the maiden they was like it not going to be fun. But the NoobTube really amazed them so it was more of my learning to fly since the fear of crashing was made less since cheap, and easy to replace. Can't wait to see what you come up with my skills have improved I done alot of FliteTest builds now all have been hand cut since I enjoy scratch building but the NoobTube was the beginning for me .. Thanks Ed for all your video's and tips..
Man! I thought something happened to you! I'm glad you are back in action!
Happy new year.Welcome back!
Happy New Year! Good to see you again!
