Thanks for including the stretch stitch. I’ve been machine sewing for most of my 75 years, but didn’t know about this stretch stitch. Your demonstration was excellent, both the visual and your commentary. 🥰

Thank you for this! I was looking to understand how to sew gathers by hand (I just had a baby and he won't let me put him down long enough to pull out my machine to finish a project I started before he was born) when I came across this video. I especially love the tip about marking a line for where to put stitches. I've detested hand sewing for a long time because my stitches come out ugly, so I'm hoping this will help me not hate hand sewing as badly. I also never knew about the stretch stitch, which is super handy to know for mending. I have 3 boys, so mending is a big thing in my house.

Several thoughts: You have a very soothing, relaxing, hypnotic voice. Have you ever considered doing audio books?
I appreciate your video. I'm really amazed, perhaps stunned, at how easy sewing really is. I believe I was originally "taught" wrong by my mother. I think it's difficult for someone to teach someone else anything when they themselves really have no idea on what they're doing.
I like the idea that I know, now, how many possible stitches there are, not that I would use all of them. I like the idea of quick and dirty. This video helped for that goal. My other goal was to break out the Boy Scout handbook to review my knots. I only wanted to learn knots, because that's at the heart of sewing. I noticed with sewing, it's not really knots, but a series of loopings. Again, thanks for the video, and I did subscribe.

I have a question about the stretch cross stitch shape. What if I have to sew across the stretch of the material? For instance shortening across the top thick shoulder straps of a dress or top when the stretch is actually going the other way ie up and down the strap, or even a four-way stretch? Does that still work well? Sorry if that’s a dumb question.
