Ladyva's playing is absolutely magical, coupled with her magical ability to swap her bracelet from one wrist to the other whilst playing is an astounding skill
😂
Good one Cliff. Surprised her dress didn't change to multi coloured floral as well. They must've edited and mixed and matched for sound quality reasons or something similar.
😅
Yes she could easily varnish her nails too whilst playing. 😂❤❤❤❤
I am surprised Ladyva being fifth. She has a flow that is magical and to watch, it is not merely her hands playing but all of her - she is totally into her own play and that makes her number one, I say.
Let’s face it they are all great in their very different ways. Thanks for supporting the channel, it great to hear so much love for boogie woogie.
I agree, she is awesome!!!!
Agreed......
Very good thank you for making are day 🤗
Not taking anything away from her, but Dona's performance is just on another level
They are all good and have unique individual style. It’s not right to put one against the other. My favorite is Ladyva!
Ladyva is my number one all day & every day !!
Ladyva is till my fave and I am 84 and have heard it all.
I,am 81 this women is the Queen of Boogie ***********************makes me feel 21 Greet,no one is better than her!
good i hear from someone who knows. Thank you. i say for some time she is the best
I am a Ladyva fan and watch every evening. Of course I think she is #1.
My favorite Ladyva you are the Best , you have class girl your music rocks my world.
My favorite is Ladyva. She plays GREAT piano AND can magically move her bracelet from one arm to the other between notes.
LOL!
She makes a great video, her director was probably the reason for that, not her. Her talent was flawless.... director, not so much....
Very good!!
🙄😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's magic ..
Too funny.
I frankly never imagined piano music can be this...danceable...i love woogie boogie...!
The first lady that played, I thought , by golly she is as beautiful as the music she plays. I was tappin my toes and boopin my head to the beat, and she smiled and I thought damn she is good. She's extremely great at Boogie Woogie and off the charts beautiful.
And she does that AMAZING magic trick where her bracelet keeps switching from her left wrist to her right wrist and back, all while playing the piano. She should bring that trick to Penn and Teller.
It’s Ladyva for me. She has the right speed, the excellent left hand, the beautiful way of playing proper boogie woogie, and, the looks.
The right speed is great point, even the great Meade lux Lewis succumbed to trying to play too fast in the end. It’s important to be able to hear those rolls and feel the swing.
And elegance
You said it.. straight up. And well said.....
WE SAW LADYVA IN 2015 , ON THE JERRY LEE LEWIS ,LONDON SHOW. SHE WAS EXCELLENT !! ---- JOHN UK --
I would love to see the last lady in the red shirt and black skirt play with Dr K Boogie Woogie! I've already seen the first lady play with Dr K and she is awesome! Love this music!
No.5 , got my vote for no.1, but, they all are phenomenal musicians, but, the grace and the beautiful atmosphere of the lighting, the settings, the way the keys flowed beneath her fingers, like fine silk rustling in the breeze. Did I mention that she was HOT!. It did it for me. A class A act. Simply beautiful....
amen
@@joewoodcock6786 I see you are a man of great taste...
I had to smile. My mother played the Bumble Bee Boogie. She was born in Iowa in 1918 and grew up in the Roaring Twenties. I think playing boogie woogie was a small act of rebellion, a way of telling her parents that she would make her own choices.
I think this is one of the best comments I have ever received for a video. That’s why I play, teach and broadcast boogie woogie, so glad it connected with you Steve and a great story. Maybe we have some similar experience from other viewers?
Love and Respect to your beloved mum ... Australian fan !
musicians have another thing going on than us mere mortals...always in awe...thank you
ladyva---- magnificent, magical!
My Mum was a great pianist who had been classically taught, and she was a big fan of Winifred Atwell. Whenever Mum played the Boogie Woogie we kids had to sit in the windows to see if our grandparents were coming along the road. If we saw them we would immediately warn Mum and she would change to playing Rock of Ages . They were big church people and did not approve of such decadent music as the Boogie Woogie.
Stories like this are amazing, it’s had to think this music was once so controversial. Thanks for supporting the channel and best wishes.
Yes, at one time, you didn't play this music in public,or, certain people .. it was taboo...
Back in the day, If one don't dig de Boogie:, one is Square.
PS. Those ladies are just amazing, to say the least. Absolutely fantastic. Thanks for posting. 😂👍
Not being disrespectful but your mum is someone I would love to meet. I play blues guitar but love the boogie woogie piano
Thank you--my soul instantly recognized Ladyva as my twin flame! ...and she acknowledged it in her song/video "To Whom Do I Want To Lie" (remember, she's Swiss, thinking in German) ❤I don't want this to end, Vanessa! ☦
,φη 😊
I love listening to Lady Va she’s brilliant!
Just recently discovered her and have been totally amazed with her playing. All the ladies on this vid are outstanding.
an understatement amigo
Agree with your choices. These women are incredibly talented.
.... they are all great ... but ... Miss Ladyva's left hand is a "force of nature" ... it is like the Union Pacific's #4014 ... the "Big Boy" ... the most powerful steam engine ever built that ran/runs on the RR tracks of the USA, to this day ... Powerful and Relentless !!!! ... AWESOME !!! ... and then there is that SMILE !!!
For me one of the best Boogie Woogie players. Gongratulations Ladyva.
Wow!! What a left hand Martha Davis!! Jaw dropping!!
Ladyva is the best l have ever seen she should be number 1
I love Lady Va, but Dona is just the heart and soul of Boogie Woogie. Her performance just bounces every time. If you see someone playing boogie woogie and they're not bouncing and smiling, they're just not in that zone.
was that the last one?
The bracelet bit is almost as skilled as the fingers getting the piano to sing that life can be wonderful
I was very familiar with Ladyva, Stephanie Trick and Dona Oxford, but I definitely need to head to the record store for some Martha Davis!
Now this is special. If children got to see this video it could inspire them to no end.
My favorite , is Dona Oxford. I like her style. I'm a fan of Dona. Ladyva is a beautiful women , and plays excelent.
She is full of life and energy and that’s what we want. humor too hee hee cheeky too! 😊
For a non player of any instrument, but a lover of great music, this is magical ! 💐
You could pick up an instrument and work at learning enough to play along a little. It is a lot of fun.
@@kevinhornbuckle Oh no, I tried guitar about four or five times over thirty or forty years, Nada, no talent in these fingers. Thanks.
@@juliojames5986 Try melodica, or harmonica. I play trombone.
You sound like you've got 'A good ear'.
@@kevinhornbuckle I'm a tremendous Harmonica player.
All of these women are fantastic! Dona Oxford gets the vote for insane energy...
Dona.....wow what an entertainer she is!!!
Not to take from any of these artists, I can't, but Dona Oxford plays it for me!
All these women are on top!
For me, Ladyva is number one !
Boogie Woogie is just such happy music. Makes you want to dance
They are all so great it’s so hard to have to choose one but if
I really had to I would pickLa Diva!
i saw LaDyva last time. it was very good. Now I feel like i`m in heaven
The first women is truly amazing, every time the camera shows her hands her bracelet is on the other wrist!
The reverse image is being displayed when the camera shows just her hands compared to the image showing her face and torso. You know the bracelet is the same.
I believe she’s wearing a bracelet on
both wrists.
@@jamesbockenstette4332
1 seconde geleden
@James Bockenstette It is not a reverse image because the low&high notes as well as the brand name of the instrument are not reversed! Also is she wearing clearly only one bracelet
@@davidconner41 She wearing clearly only one bracelet
dona has the jerry lee look, and why not, if one can play like those two, one can look any way they want to...great stuff
The bass player is looking in awe of Dona Oxford . That is some outstanding playing right their and shes doing it all standing up 😊
These ladies are brilliant! ... The last lady took it very seriously! lol
Sheesh, that Dona Oxford is not only a boogie woogie master but a great showwoman! They're all great in this vid. Thanks for creating/sharing it, Boss.
Really glad you appreciated it, thanks for supporting the channel and our boogie woogie revival.
She is awesome, never new bout her till show on New Orleans La. Smoking that key board , would have luv to seen her jam with Killer
Jerry lee Lewis in his younger days
They would have knock your socks
Off lol 😝, God bless them both
Wow brocks boogie! Rocks!!!!
Dona oxford no. 1. She just blew me away! And what a beautiful performer! Hall of fame fingerwork! A++. Thankyou dona oxford my depression is lifting! My father was mr. Boogie woogue, lumbros kourlis. We called him pops lefty. You are on his level.
He passed away 35 years ago in my arms large cell carcinoma cancer in 3 months and left a hole in my heart sooo bug you can drive a mack truck thru it still! You reall hit that keyboard so perfect it had me floating and looking fir my drum sticks, a Big big big "thankyou" !!!!!!!!!!!❤😂🎉
Truely the best ive ever had heard!!! Im buying you recodings...thankyou jesus!!!❤😂🎉
GOAT!!!!!☆☆☆☆☆
Lumbros kourlos was was a tax account in st. Clair shores, michigan. 48080 on 21941 9 miles rd. After he finished your taxes he would often get up and play 30 mins of boogie boogie for you on his Steinway baby grand piano! He was a left hand stride fats waller copy cat!
Trust me if you ever heard him you would all agree he was the GOAT! REST IN PEACE DADDY! ILL SEE YOU IN HEAVEN SOON!
That Dona Oxford deserves to be world famous. Unbelievable.
Not just a performer, but an entertainer.
@@georgesakellaropoulos8162n I agree just magical🔥🎶🎵🎶❤️
She is one of the top 10 in my library of misic ranging from A-Z, I can't stop listening to her, when I listen to someone else, I end up back to LADYVA!!!
Same here ! I even found a video of her playing with Boogie Woogie guru, Brenden Kavanagh on his YT channel. It was quite amazing !
Marcia Ball is still my favorite female piano/keyboard player. Plus, she sings while playing.
That’s a good shout Kathy, she is an all round entertainer.
And she does it with her beautiful legs crossed!😂
I really like Dr. K But Donna is flying high with Boogie ! Thank you Donna !!
All I can say after picking my jaw up off the floor is this lady's playing is insane!! Thank you Ma'am!!
Yep. She does it all true to the art of BW and beyond the silly girl mellow BW.
Dean
Dang, that chic at the end = WOW!!!!!!
Dona oxford. #1! Thanks dona from christos kourlos! I learned drums from Mr. Buddy rich! Goat!
You are piano goat!
Thanks so much for the Martha Davis footage, heard her playing before, but not seen her perform. I think all these ladies are simply amazing.
Lady Va number one!👍👍
Started playing boogie woogie 3 years ago, I can never go back
I get that, I’ve played music all my life mainly guitar but when I started on the piano boogie woogie was like a calling. 90% of my music time is spent enjoying boogie woogie.
Same here! A good Guitar sesh is great, but there’s nothing like boogie-ing on the piano!
Winefred Atwell - Holy Moly .. off-the-charts Good Stuff! (All outstanding musicians!)
Agreed she was something else 🤠
Imagine having a girlfriend that INSITS on playing the boogie! Oh my, that would be my heaven.
That lady on stage at the community fair is awesome ! She has the fastest fingers I've ever seen ! Great job !
Dona Oxford, the Jimi Hendrix of the boogie woogie piano; her energy is astounding as is the beauty of the two young ladies with her. May she never get arthritic fingers or else she'll have to start playing a slow waltz
I’m sure she’ll have a lot to say even with a waltz!
@@andrewbarrett1537 I don't really get where you're coming from here.
HalleluYAH! All amazing YAH given talent, no doubt there... love the performance from Martha Davis and the bassist, ohhhhh man.... but all these ladies are brilliant artists.
A Big Shout out to you, Boogie Boogie Boss, for bring this out. These ladies are BOSS! Keep on Boogieing!
LadyVa (Vanessa): Long live to the heroes of music! Thank you very much for such valuable gifts 🙏
She plays the piano very good yu are so awesome amazing praying the piano i love listening to music 🎶
Donna & Ladyva absolutely tear it up!! Love it! 🔥🎹🎹🔥🤟❤️🎼🎵🎹🤟🤟😜😎🤟
The third gal, on stage BLEW MY MIND! Gawd...her talent....stunned me!
These phenomenal women are literally blowing my mind! The talent. individuality, incredible skill, dedication and time it would have taken to play like that...
Wow that last girl just shredded that keyboard. She's got my vote.
Stephanie Trick is my favorite! She’s talented and classy!
In terms of performances, my top two favorites in this are indeed Martha Davis and Stephanie Trick. AFAIK Ms Davis is IMPROVISING and Stephanie is PLAYING A TRANSCRIPTION, but I’ll be damned if she doesn’t NAIL that transcription perfectly, with the right feel and everything.
Boogie woogie absolutely is a way to express the soul of the one expressing their "Boogie". I love it, and i WISH really hard that i will learn to play the piano(I am just playing the guitar(Electric,Acoustic, and some kind of Air guitar if i must) Haha 😄😄
Martha Davis 😳😳😳😳😳🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 THE BEST. AMAZINGGGGGGGG.
So clear, clean and perfectly done. Her hands were flying.
I love all vintage music and everthing up to, but not including rap,and boogie woogie is near the top,and this is beautiful!
Poetry in motion, don't stop Ma'am and the rest of you talented Ladies. God Bless you for freeing our troubled souls.
Thanks
My two favorites are Ladyva and Stephanie Trick. Two favorite guys are Dr. K and Terry Mikes!
that is amazing how that bracelet jumps from right wrist to left wrist and back and forth. And during the song.
Good eye
It’s Beautiful video ❤️
Eagle 🦅 eyes 👀
Amazing trick
Boogie woogie on piano is something different. And I love it!
All 5 are amazing, however Doña Oxford and Ladyva my favorites.
Thanks for the feedback, perhaps the most popular viewers choice from the comments below.
Refuse to judge - all 5 were all great! Loved Martha Davis.
Wow!!! How could anyone not like this?
The talent level between them is impossible to measure. The difference is a thousand times less than minuscule.
Never before in my 57y of living, have i EVER wished for a cameraman to keep focusing on the hands, when filming a beautiful lady 😄 They are all truly impressive musicians 🥰 I´m a guitarist who cant play piano so I may be wrong, but to me it sounded like Martha Davis speed and dexterity was superior. But as I said, they are all very very good..
Your hands, not to mention your astonishing skills, are amazing and joyful. Thank you. All of you.
Ladyva and Donna still my favourites
My favorite too is Ladyva...simply superb
I love boo-gee whoo-gee and have since a very young age. It's God's little practical joke that I can't sing or play a note.... I wish I could play like this for just one hour of my life.
Her gentle touch on keyboardist masterful
Winefred Atwell WOW! I haven’t heard her beautiful piano playing for years.
Her Black and white rag is second to none, more ragtime than boogie woogie but fantastic all the same🤠
I have a couple of 78 rpm record from my dad Here of Winfred Atwell here, and of course also everything on CD her best one is The Black and White rag. Did you know she played boogie woogie for paying her study at the conservatory for becoming a classical concert piano player?
Hello,
Thanks SO much for showcasing the Ladies of Boggie Woogie.
I'm 72.
In1955, @ 5yrs old, my Gramma Eliza Langley would play me the Music she said she would play at the "Speak Easy" joints she went to when she was young.
It was this "Boogie Woogie'"Music that no one approved of then.
I've always loved it and admire the people who could play it well.
Thank you for high lighting this great music of my/our "Yout"
I literally Cry with joy when I hear it well played like this!!
cheers
Richard Langley
La Mesa, Ca
PS; Nanna Langley (RIP) would be proud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this boogie woogie music and musicians wow what talent ladies love you all awesome 😂
It's enough that I ENJOY this music to the ENDS OF MY TOES!! WHAT would I, COULD I ever add!!❤❤💓 GO GALS!! 🎶🎶🎶
Vanessa, ......... there is no need to say more. Boogie Woogie redefined, love you girl. Hugs from Mobile, Al. Rick
Mercy, I was just heading for bed when I hit this video. Now wide awake and read to Party. The energy in these ladies playing is astounding to say the least. Boogie will never die
Ladyva is still number one in my book
Ladyva is a fantastic talent, agreed, she plays very precisely.
Yeah, she's fabulous on the piano, but wow can she ever give you the evil eye.
Lee Elliott it’s that mysterious mix of major and minor that makes boogie woogie so amazing. Maybe she’s just in the groove.
So right
@@boogiewoogieboss5894 7
Donna absolutely tears it up, she & Terry have similar energy!
What I wouldn't give to have been in that audience dancing Boogie style to the last Ladies performance.
They were all absolutely astounding but I friggen' loved her spirit.
Barrelhouse Chuck. Knew him well. He never new any note of music. Played with the best of blues talent. Rest in peace my dear friend.
Wow, incredible. My two favorites: Stephanie Trick has that cool confidence with ice in her veins. She quickly plays a few chords in the middle that have the richness of Oscar Peterson. Dona Oxford is the bomb. She owns the stage with her style and energy.
Tha lady va her music was rocking rythum
And the tricks of Art Tatum too in there but I can't quite find them...
Being a trumpet player for 60 yrs I’ve tried emulating Harry James. Still trying. This pianist nails it. !! 10:21
Hey pretty lady I love the way you play that piano you got it going on .
Just fabulous - takes me right back to when my mum 9 sadly departed ) played this and swing , despite being classically trained , Almost 60 years ago
Boogie Woogie music is happy music. So much of today's so called music is depressing and angry. You can feel the joy and happiness in Boogie Woogie it makes you smile, clap your hands and move your feet.
