  • April Fools movie came out late 1960s a time as far as home recording techniques~ lets call it prehistoric But savour the warm silky vinyl ~ ooh Kinky!!! Some took a sledgehammer to the movie ~ an assault it seemingly survived. But then we all take from movies what we want ~for this film societal mores were put on the backburner ~ light comedy and colourful music all the way ~ Some time later entire audio soundtrack voices the lot reposed gratefully in Ifcopods mean little mitts ~ as new fangled video medium was about to go viral ~ on tape. mind you things at the time still Jurassic In 1970s early 1980s everything was tape not todays plush state of the art ~ this piece La La La what a stunningly original name ~ never have guessed ~felt somewhat cheated upon discovering songs singular title just that~ La La La ~ gentle listener are you chancing your arm taking a punt on this delightful stuff instead of spending your valuable time probing existence ~ divining even devising (that also) algorithms ascertaining the extensiveness of the multiverse ~that class of a thing? Perhaps like me you dig this April Fools mush ~ The song an effective presence in the film as percussion kicks in climactically for Catherine Deneuve and Jack Lemmons aerial dash to quit the rat race or the 1960s equivalent on a flight to Paris By the way~ my fledgling bid for notoriety is scuppered if La La La turns out by Bacharach not Hamlisch ~ Bacharach gave us the delightful Aprils Fools title number .Ownership of these lovely 1960s genre orchestral sounds is split between Bacharach Hamlisch perhaps some other 1960s composers Neal Hefti master of the chic genre also included ~La La La~ the music seemed to catch the party sound of late 60s Dont you just love those sounds ~ Yes we do actually .
Among the movies moments The badinage aboard a suburban train comedian Harvey Korman reeling off a clatter of exotic names Polish Greek Tabetha Sternowski belly dancer who also apparently yodels ~ all together as minstrel Harvey Korman leads the way~ Yodel ~ae ~E~ dee~ as rolling ~ sleep deprived Jack Weston is on a losing battle evading the encroaching clutches of Morpheus~ Harvey Korman remembered back to Danny Kaye on TV but also with Nurse Diesel aka Cloris Leachman in Mel Brooks 1970s High Anxietry Enjoyable if not noted especially for debonair roles .Peter Lawford made amends in this movie with slightly superior double takes ~part bemused part raised eyebrows eyeing a dishabille Lemmon but lines delivered with personable ease .Mention Jack lemmon Walter Matthau and director Billy Wilder are nearby .Laced with acidy moments not a fully fledged comedy yet Jack Lemmons mid 1960s Fortune Cookie with Andre Previns score is key to Ifcopods viewing .Photo inset a forlorn Jack Lemmon fingering the famous key from classic Apartment but thats a whole other story At the drop of a name~ Billy Wilder ~wish also it could be part of this story. The April Fools was meant to be a chic take on the psychedelicJet set with some marital complications and luckily thats how it turned out. Oh and did I mention veterans Myrna Loy Charles Boyer from cinemas golden 1930s years ~ adding to the nostalgia not forgetting a conspicuous face from 1970s Mash movie Sally Kellerman a hyper housewife smack up to date with contemporary psychology even perhaps fashionable modes of potty training ~This song attributed to Mongo Santa Maria Band but dont believe a word ~those gobdaws dont dig the lissome swing needed for this la la la ~vocal smooth stuff ~ Watermelon Man how are ya ? ~ here the Mongo men minus their bongos are just a nominal houseband ~. the group had a reputation in 1960s as a tranche of similar Latin sounds prevailed however for authentic guttural Spanish ~ take a listen to Ray Baretto 1963 El watusi better than rubbish rap indeed my kind of rap yeah the real deal i just loved that song in the 1960s~ perfect to test your vernacular ease with the Spanish lingo Another special April Fools moment on U Tube a singer launching into~ I Say a little prayer~ wrongfooting perplexed Jack lemmon Theres also an updating of a true 1950s ; classic Les Baxters ~Quiet Village 1969 style but thats a different Martin Denny story amply celebrated on U Tube . If you have a turntable handy ~ a clutch of vinyls in not so grubby hands~ as the Routers of 1960s memory say Clap Clap Lets Go.
