      I forgot to mention it in the video but I think the primary reason it is a little difficult to control is that the steering is very slow. That won't bother some people but I'm used to fast responsive steering so I always kind of felt like I was behind the truck. A faster steering server would go a long way to alleviating that.

    Great alternative basher. I think the tires are the most impressive part on the truck. I wish there were more rims like this. It's probably not proper but I just reverse the center insert on proline rims and I have had no issues. It gives you the old school deep dish look and adds more width. Hopefully Proline won't see my comment. lol

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Yeah they are cool though they're being used in this case in lieu of actually making the arms wider which means if you put regular wheels and tires on there the truck becomes far more narrow which isn't great. Fortunately these do seem like they're pretty good tires.

    In my opinion, the Traxxas Maxx is well worth the additional money. 9 months into owning it and I am still beyond impressed with how well it is made. And this comes from someone who has wasted thousands of dollars buying, trying and in some cases trading a massive number of rc's, most of which have been bashers. Only a pin popped out of the back wheel. That is it. Given my recent annoyance with two new Arrma 6s purchases the next purchase very well may be the Xmaxx instead of the 6s or 8s Kraton. I was initially going to buy one of them but like with Boeing, quality control at Horizon/Arrma is really lacking. I took apart the front and center differentials and the front one was nearly completely dry. The center one was not much better and I have yet to monkey with the back one yet but that is on my list. Was strongly considering the Kagama but the overheating issues and the inability to utilize its full speed potential makes me uncomfortable. The Xmaxx is a proven platform made by a company that I am slowly starting to appreciate more and more mainly due to the recent issues with Horizon and their horrific online customer service.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I don't disagree with any of that. I think that this is a great car for someone to buy if they've already got a bunch of cars and just want to mess with something different and experience what's new. This isn't something I would recommend to someone who's just looking for their first basher or something that will be easy and guaranteed reliable.
      Everything at horizon has kind of gone downhill since their failed system migration back in July. Right now I do agree that Traxxas customer support is on top.
      This is still a fun car though and is a huge improvement over a lot of previous off-brand efforts. It feels much higher quality.

    • @XWXW-lk4jf
      @XWXW-lk4jf Před 4 měsíci +2

      @DoRC I, personally can feel and see quality differences between my Talion exb and new Big Rock and Mojave. The workmanship is inferior with loose bolts, diffs not filled properly and cheaper parts across the board. The pinion mesh on the brand new Mojave was set way to tight. Then I go to adjust it using and MP3 hex screw driver and nearly stripped it. Luckily I was able to muscle it off with my Protek hex tool but the level of cheapness of screws that they use is inexcusable. No other rc have I ever stripped a screw, only on Arrma vechiles. It is a money making scheme because they know once you strip it in most cases you have to replace the motor or at the very least, the motor mount. That snnoys me.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 4 měsíci

      @@XWXW-lk4jf they actually upgraded the motor mount screws on the big rock and newer models. Those motor mount screws have been a problem for a long time. Depending on how much thread lock they used you were pretty much guaranteed to strip them. The new ones are much better.

    I have to disagree on one thing, if a clipless system works I 1000% support it because I HATE body pins. I did magnetic mounts on my TRX4 and absolutely all of my cars now are traxxas products with the clipless body system. The entire reason I bought the ARRMA granite grom was the clipless body. My only vehicle with body pins is the xo-1 and ideally it’ll be the last RC I own with body pins.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Absolutely. The reason I mentioned it in this case is that this doesn't really feel any more convenient than clips. The buttons tend to get jammed with grit which makes them a little difficult to press and I don't really see it taking any less time to work this system than working clips.
      A genuine clipless system is obviously faster but this really isn't that this is just a different form factor of clip system.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC  Před 4 měsíci

      I agree. You'll have to avoid the area around the body posts. That being said so far those areas have held up really well. They're pretty thick to begin with and I think the larger holes help with strength.

    Wow! It really looks good, and a bit odd, but looks are subjective right? Some better shocks, metal pivot balls, standard body posts and I'd rock that!! It has some really nice features for the money indeed. The need for so much offset on the wheels is a deal breaker though. Hopefully WOV comes to their senses and redesigns the suspension to accommodate standard wheels and tires. Only being able to buy them from WOV isn't something I'd be interested in. Yeah it does have some downsides but I'm not sure we're going to see a wider arm version anytime really soon simply because it would cause them to have to make a bunch of parts that they don't already have.
