I love the idea of a story set on a generation ship during one of the middle generations. So depressing but so captivating.

@@steppecist2928 yes, about a year ago. Put prob 20 hours or so into it. I got to the secons town before i just gave up. I thought the part where you fought robots via the air ducts was cool, but the rest of the game was just so fucking tedious and boring.

Not just Age of Decadence, but Iron Tower also made Dead State, which is another fantastic tactical RPG. I can only assume Colony Ship will be excellent too!
None of their games receive all that much attention / coverage, so I'm really happy to see this - I hope it directs more players to these games / this genre
Actually not every member of ITS worked on Dead State, if I remember correctly only Oscar (level designer) and one of their 2 programers (Nick ?) worked on it. That being said, I can only agree with you : not enough outsider promotion and coverage, though I really did my best concerning AoD & DR (promoting on a site that no longer exists each and every monthly update back in the days + the French translation on which I've spent about 4500 hours, of course I wasn't alone, kudos to Sunfire)). Yep, I can say I've done my duty haha. Now, situation have changed since, so I couldn't do the same thing for Colony Ship, otherwise it would have be with an intact pleasure. I wish you all to find the same pleasure on Colony Ship.
I played this game for 30 minutes and died seven times....This game is brutal. Thank God, they let you save wherever.

@@IronTowerStudio Hey, speaking of feedback. Can you guys add some more 1-2 enemy encounters so it's slightly easier to get combat experience early?
Also, some kind of NPC that you can pay to train skills would be nice as well.
@@DecepticonLeader Yep, it's on the works. Here's a list of improvements we are working on:
- Sneak inside the Regulators HQ to steal a badge
- Sneak into one of the rooms on the Living Quarters floor in Hydroponics
- Sneak into Zeke's back room
- A couple of hard to get-to stashes in the Outskirts
- More interactions on your way to the tower
- More opportunities to use Electronics
- A decontamination panel in the first room with frogs (this way non-combat characters can either sneak or use science skills)
- Let a party member climb the tower in Hydroponics and then throw down a rope for you to climb
- Medkits for manual healing while out in the 'field'
- Paid training (the existing NPCs that can give you a few pointers will teach you a bit more if you pay them, including party members)
- 'Fog of war' in the Armory, you shouldn't be able to see beyond locked doors
- Auto-reloading equipped guns after a fight, most likely via a settings toggle

Btw. There's a guy standing next to a couple defunct turrets in camptown when you come from the main street. The ability to talk to him can disappear even if you weren't finished with all his dialogue options. Oh and a question. Are healing items meant to be in limited supply? I bought the last regen item in the medbay after a bunch of fights.

Age of Decadence Devs that game was so good, honestly that universe deserves a revamp since it's interesting.
Shadowrun wibes intensify! Wish Splat was still doing full playthroughs like he used to. At least time from time for titles like these.

If you don't know it yet, go check Age of Decadence, it has such a deep and interesting lore too. The people making these games sure have good writers.

@@DamsdelDrennon If you plan on playing it though, I have to warn you, it's a very fustrating game, as it's hard to have a character good at anything. But the universe is very interesting.

Age of Decadence and Dungeon Rats are two of my all time favorites. Been waiting for a long time for this games release. I probably wont touch this one until its out of early access.

Almost reminds me of the good ol days of Fallout: Tactics combat
I was just browsing steam trying to find age of decadence and it recommended me atom rpg. Looks a lot like the early Fallouts.

I got a anniversary 3 in 1 CD that had Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics on it. Played a bit of Tactics. This game seems like the combat system of Tactics but with the actual dialogue options and use of skills beyond just combat of Fallout 1 and 2

I beat age of decadence several times. I never got to fly around in the skyship though, which is something I always wanted to do.

@@StarlasAiko If you are asking how the win, I found the easiest method was the murder hobo approach, which basically go all in for combat and kill everything. It is hard at the start but if you kill enough stuff early on you hit a point where you are a god of combat and nothing can stop you. anymore. The key is killing finding all the optional encounters and killing everyone, starting with the weakest and working your way up. The downside is you don't learn a lot about what is going on behind the scenes this way.
For the skyship, that one is harder since you need really high intelligence, lore and crafting and all that. The intelligence builds are harder because occasionally you get into combat you can't avoid and you wont be built for combat. Those sort of builds can be fun though, since there is a lot of crazy tech stuff in the game besides the skyship.
I love the gradual western accent.
Yes, this is a cool looking game. Perspective angle of the game world like that i always think of the old Crusader game from the 80s.
Better cyberpunk game than the current cyberpunk game.....I really liked it it reminds me of older styles of games that I used to play as a kid...I wish they'd fix the new Cyberpunk game but this will always have a place in my heart to play LoL.

I bought this game because of this video. Awesome game, hard as hell, got 50 hours into it.... this is only the first chapter, the final game with all chapters will be released in about 18 months from now..... so ... other than that... awesome game.

Iron Tower also made Dead State, which I consider to be one of the best zombie survival base-building games out there. It was also an unapologetic game just like Age of Decadence (e.g. you don't get skill points from combat)

This is basically Fallout 1 or 2. At least they are making good use of the formula, looks well made.
Nah, a game that is like fallout 1 or 2 is underrail, its the closest thing to a sequel to those games, try it

It's a pretty cool game and the interface and skill/experience system reminds me of Deus Ex which is why I bought it. But this is indeed a hard game.
Even with great stats you will find that leveling up your skills will be a struggle. There's nowhere you can buy skills and the money/item stores exist in a closed system, which means you can only buy so many healing items until the store runs out and you have to hope you don't get low on health in battle.
There's far too few missions against 1-2 enemies only. Instead it's usually groups of 3-6 enemies, so you have to redo battles over and over again until you get lucky. Kinda annoying.
You definitely need to have enough charisma for at least 3 party members, otherwise you will hit a hard wall where you face-off against superior numbers that you can't beat with 2 ppl.
Otherwise the concept and turn-based game mechanics is pretty interesting and the closest analogy I can think of is the XCom games.

For some reason that character creation screen reminds me more of shadowrun than it probably should. Maybe its the color scheme.
I'm calling it now - "mission control got killed and the ship has been in orbit at its destination for generation, you got to scheme your way to the only remaining landing craft - story.
Game starts at 7:36 . Character creator in RPG should really be another episode, lol.

Shiny! Age of Decadence was the closest thing to Fallout 1&2 we ever got, next to Underrail and you're doing a great review. Guess the mainstream press and casuals will cry around again for not being the Superhero that can do it all. =D

That feeling you get when you unload the clip into the enemy and he only loses 10 hp...
...but then you look behind you to see that the ppl in the small cafe behind the battle zone haven't even gotten up because none of the weapons involved do enough damage for concern.
Yah, i was laughing at how evans just firing the 4barrel shotgun right over those peoples table and heads and they not even flinching or showing outrage of "wtf man?!" Lol
In some games they program the npc's with at least some kind of fear and flight response to gun shots and hostility starting up right near them, as they yell and jump up and run off.
a little thing about this game, there these things calles mindworms, these are op, they never fail a shoot (its no possible for the them fail) and they also take 3/4 of your AP.

This looks good, I've already added it to my Steam wishlist. I actually own AOD so I have tried it but got turned off seeing some dialog options' outcomes nevertheless.... In any case, maybe it's time for me to retry it some other time soon and see how it fares.
