It's really unnerving that most of them are just as intelligent as many humans in D&D.
A united Yeti confederecy would be pretty cool though.
Well I mean they have their own language.......
Mark corn pops words, the south will rise again.
Once the yeti figure out how to craft their own tools, then whoever is living on that mountain, is going to have a bad time.
There is an SCP related to a "yeti"-like species being possibly sentient.
Won't happen when they turn on each other so much. Everything is food
MrRhexx: "What the Monster Manual tells us is... actually pretty good!"

@@rickastley9856 *and* no*
I didn’t know yetis were cannibals.
Honestly though the manual definitely has fuckups, the biggest issue is that giving full overview on every monster would bloat the book to at least twice its size, and probably actually more like quadruple. Don't get me wrong, I would want that Monster Tome, but it would definitely be expensive and quite difficult to handle.
@@Yasha277hehe. Brings to mind them making one that's that thick, bound in leather and shut with a clasp or belt. Maybe even on real parchment too

The abdominal snowman isn't dangerous. Just an annoying narcissistic douchebag who insists on calling you 'bro' and will bore you with long conversations about the benefits of a high protein/low carb diet.
Phlebas Bro, You seem like a guy who would do great on Keto. Bro, we can have you gain 15 lbs and still be 10% Body Fat. Bro just hit up my Instagram!

The "snow invisibility" has parallels in our world. In the arctic, polar bears are known to be as stealthy as ninjas. There are stories of them hiding their black muzzle with their hands to be completely "invisible"... To quote a MTG card : "When a snowslide shows its eyes... It's too late..."
"Injecting Yeti oil is poisonous"
Heck, if you are close enough to an enemy, and sneaky enough that you can inject anything, you may as well use something more effective than "it makes your slow."
A guy walks into a store and says to the clerk: "I want your best ant poison"
So the clerk gives him one that is guaranteed lethal, and furthermore, will spread to the whole colony!
Super happy, the client leaves, but comes back after 3 days
"Your stupid poison does nothing! I even found ants swimming in the stuff!"
"But sir" -says the clerk- "Didn't you read the instructions?"
The client feels a little embarrassed when he realizes that no, he didn't read the instructions, so he does so now.
THIS POISON IS INJECTABLE
If it has to be “injected” then how does it “spread to the whole colony”?
@@theguileraven7014 Because ants vomit up their food to feed to their young, which would transfer the poison. My question is how you inject poison into ants.
Nah, the oil is for rigging fights with coin on the line.
Alright, somebody needs to put together a campaign, where the BBEG is V.V. Argost--a yeti that was once domesticated and raised by a mad mage (possibly school of enchantment), and through said magic gained enhanced intelligence, and inherited his former master's ambition, and fashioned a mask to conceal his face, and a special cloak to regulate his body heat.
"GREETINGS AND BIENVENUE!"
It’s really cool seeing my own art in a video. Thanks for that.
The Perception skill is not Just Sight, it's all senses, Sight, Hearing, Smell, etc, which the book explained them having such a strong sense of smell, including the Keen Smell ability they have.
Aside from that, great video.

This is the exact video I wanted since I’m working on making a more humanized yeti race for my players
Can you tell me about them?
Could you imagine a yeti society or a sage yeti that lives alone and speaks of ages past or artifact.
Yo you should post it's statblock on Reddit or something 👀
Evan Ortiz They a bit bigger than normal human and they have 4 arms like the yeti from runtera/LoL. They are insanely strong and surprisingly friends to other races since they aren’t visited much in the harsh cold climates. Whenever they interact with other races, the yeti-bois(working name) don’t recognize their own strengths and usually end up accidentally hurting or breaking something.
Stats would go along the line of str +2 and wis 1+ or con 1+ depending on a sub race but I haven’t got that far.

This is why I think the headband of intelligence is such an underrated item: just give a yeti, young white dragon, hill giant, or some other low intelligence monster and boom you turn a throw away monster into a low level campaign.

I love your videos man
I'm honestly disappointed that you never mentioned that the Yeti's have there own language. If they were like other beasts it would be listed as "none." It really speaks to there comparatively high intelligence.
Thanks for an excellent video as always. I think I might have some of my players run into a yeti family and see how they handle it
Not gonna lie I feel like even orcs would run away from this scary thing
MrRhexx could you make a video on the different Planes of existence?
@MrRhexx Love your vids, can't wait for the Tiamat one you are working on, would love to know more about Tiamat /Takhisis and how the Dragonlance sphere lore might interact with 5th edition lore. Cheers and keep up the great work!
It would be cool to see a video on angels like Empyreans and Solars
My day is always ten times better when this MrRhexx hero releases content. I definitely enjoy other creators too but just as one would become excited when a favorite author and/or artist chooses to releases a new piece of art, I am ecstatic to find more content from this hero! This guy is a master storyteller and could make a nursery rhyme sound like Shakespeare. Times are a bit rough as an Electrical Engineer in today’s climate and I cannot show my appreciation enough! I fully intend to become a supporter as soon as a semblance of stability returns to my vocational path. Thank You! I wish good health and all the best to you and yours!
I think you shouldve included the Yeti from Skifree. Just comes outta nowhere and bumrushes you, which is apparently correct according to lore.

*FIRE BALL*
I'm running a DnD campaign based on the Ice Age setting in DnD. After 2 sessions fighting yeti in the wild of the Balduvian Steppes (first without any light or fire to sneak up on them while they slept in a series of ice caves only to be, second at the bottom of a giant crevasse where a herd of mammoths had long-ago been driven to fall to their deaths, forming a mammoth graveyard, their bones picked clean over the years, both fights making much of the yeti's climb speeds to traverse walls and ledges) the one PC, a thug working for Soldev's local crime syndicate before he was caught and conscripted into the army for his crimes, went on a rant about how much he hated yeti and wanted them all dead. Immediately after the second battle, exploring a cave at the bottom of the crevasse he found 2 newborn yeti, immediately changing his tone and adopting them. They've since become the only things the murderous thug loves more than himself, and he once risked his life and saved all of Soldev from the then-villain's attack as the villain's army was threatening Soldev, where the yeti were holed up.
The Ice Age setting from Magic: The Gathering, not from DnD.
See, this is prove of Zapp Brannigan's military genius. The famous Zapp Brannigan maneuver would even work on all types of yetis!
A series teaching new players how to play would be great, starting with making a new character and playing through a campaign, leveling up and how to continue on afterwards. Or a series where each class is explained and how to play and level them up throughout campaigns.
Thanks MrRhexx. I appreciate your time.
Love ya vids. Can’t wait for a hobgoblin video.
I love videos like these, because it makes sense for players to come across all these things.
I personally would like more videos about overworld animals. Players wouldnt encounter gods, or powerful CR 40 monsters/people, but like, The Flail Snail, or a Yeti.
Things you dont think about alot in the large expansive world(s) of DND. I like having alot of cool lore about having "normal" creatures.
Hey Rhexx, big fan here, i just wanted to say, i feel like you recover something on this vid. Im not sure what. But you make me feel like the good old monster videos you made.

they prbably kept the horns from 4th edition for one simple reason.... because it's cool.

The fear of fire makes it sound like that Dragons are Yetis natural predator
They would be, if the fire breathing dragons lived in Arctic climates.
The Remorhaz is probably their true natural predator
The dragon queen is next? *squee* I hope this is gonna be your longest video yet. I'm looking to run the Tiamat campaigns soon and your in depth analysis is gonna come in clutch. Thank you for all you do
As always, perfect time to post a video when Im planning a yeti encounter
That picture of the yeti holding snow cones make me laugh some reasons
i gave my players a talisman of ultimate good as a quest item to be given to the main npc of the campaign with a single use. it was meant to be used on a super mega boss as it was the jurnay to get there not the final battle that mattered. in my encounters i don't pull punch's with what's possible that they can encounter and they did know that yetis although rare are encountered in packs of 3. they were traveling back after obtaining the talisman and they did end up encountering a pack. the rolls i made to determine the type of pack (if they were wounded after a hunt or fight, in fighting condition ect) I rolled the rarest one. 2 normal and 1 abominable yeti. the party was lv 6 average at the time to what i remember but the cleric who had the talismen used it on the abominable yeti saying "nope were not dealing with this" and sent it to its doom.
"Now yetis have two things making them special and interesting. Their fur and their eyes, but let's cover the 'ladder' first. The coat of the yetis..." xD you mean "the former" sir
Was about to post the same. Thanks for doing the work for me. Have a like for being as nitpicky as me.
Where the horns come from: I don't know if you've noticed, but the D&D version of the Yeti is strikingly similar to another Ice Creature in a very popular sci-fi movie. I speak of the Ice Creature of Hoth. If you look closely, you will see the same curled horns on the one that takes Luke's mount, and again when Luke takes it's arm off.
Good to see with next campaign book rumored to be in Icewind Dale. \o/
Yeti: Has cool eye lids to make it see better in snow storms.
Snow storms: actually blocks sight by being so dense that the snow flakes in the air make it impossible to see beyond, i.e. white outs.
@MeRexx, AJ picket invites you to the dnd lore panel, since similar to both him and volo, you are a loremaster
Awesome!
You are right about 4th edition being different, it was there goal to make an entirely new material plane and cosmos rather than progressing previous ones.
The Neutral Good re-skin is the Snowsquatch or Hyperboristro.
You’re the best! I’m planning an adventure that involves a yeti so this was great timing!

Baby Yeti with a Poro
Hey Rhexx I just found an interesting monster that really doesn't have much information on it. This thing called a Nagpa is basically a Skeksis from Dark Crystal. It's weird that something seemingly so weak in its statblock has an equal CR to a Death Knight. Maybe give that video some thought?
Amazing how much lore is written on this mountain Ape thing.
I could be wrong here, but I think the horns might come from designs of Norse Trolls and Giants. The Picture at the 10 minute mark really reminds me of that kind of art, on top of being an amazing picture.
Yeti village parents in Wildemount: My boys got wicked smats
When our global plague started, I went back and watched all your videos. Keep it up, love it all.
I would love to see a video on Medusas, even a shorter one would be awesome.
It's interesting how divergent the D&D version of creatures and the original myths can get.
This is an awesome lore video. Did you ever consider doing a collab with AJ Pickett? I would love for you two to collab for either a lore video or a gaming session in AD&D. Both of you are on the same frequency and both of you have different angles on perspectives while both being objective. A collab would be an epic level awesome!
17:47 Is that Far cry 4's advertisement picture with a yeti instead of pagan min? Baller.
My D&D group has an adopted baby yeti. We were ambushed by a group of them as a random encounter and then the very next random encounter my dm rolled involved finding a baby creature and he was like “…this is the baby of the yetis you killed”. Our druid in particular felt bad and adopted him and now he wears a hat to help keep the sun off him
The famous companion of the hall, Wulfgar Dragonsbane, was killed by yetis at the end of his first life. He was over 120 years old and it took no less than three full grown yetis to kill him.
Oh they're weak to fire and bear hug? *Laughs in investiture of flames*
8:30 That yeti is THICC
Very cool. I’m so putting more of this stuff in my campaigns.
Now, I’m sure either you or someone else has noticed this and brought it to your attention, but at 7:22, you said that “there’s two things that... their fur and their eyes.”... “but let’s cover the latter first.” You then go on to talk about their coat. Latter is supposed to mean the second thing stated. Not the first. I’m sure that was a slip of the tongue, soooo I’m wasting my time writing this XD
6:05 "Snow cone? It's lemon flavored."
