    Love my 2001 XJ8. I get compliments from strangers every time I take her out. Such a remarkable car. It’s a joy to drive and admire its beauty after a nice wash and wax. Too bad Jaguar can’t bring back this iconic look.

      I agree with you about the compliments and iconic look, so very elegant. I have a 2006 Vanden Plas, black inside and out, and it seems to never fail to turn a head or two in a parking lot or a "thumbs up" at a traffic light.

      It’s true! I get more compliments on my 02xjr than I do on my corvette
      It’s crazy.

    Great video. It is a shame that they used the silly plastic tensioners on that otherwise brilliant V8. Once they went back to iron cylinder liners and installed steel tensioners in all cars (2002 model year), they had a legendary - and reliable - car.

    I did have to laugh that they go through great pains to point out about this being an all new car from the old 6-cylinder X300 models, then half of the external shots in the video are of the earlier cars!

      thats not true, look at the blinkers and grill, hedalight and fog lights. most of them are the X308. there was a different one at 4:17, 1:37 etc.

    • @LotusEliseNZ
      @LotusEliseNZ Před 2 lety

      @@tinomoller5931 there's like five or six times in the video where the external shot is of an X300 instead of an X308

    I bought the Mrs a earlier 93 4 liter 6 pot engine in 2005 for £800 a proper sports car underneath handling was great for a big car , the Mrs ran it for a year ,did moan about MPG but I pointed out the if she gave up smoking and used it less for small trip it would help which she eventually did but then was off sick from work for about 4 weeks the jag sat and these BIG cats don't like sitting all the problems started electrical, rough running, battery drain, so we sold it on .We do still mis the jag a relaxed motorway cruiser and back a road bully boy up for a get away car

    Well, now I just feel bad that my '99 XJR has been waiting in my shop for me to replace the rear wheel bearings and the coolant line between the colant reservoir and the expansion tank for as long as it has. I miss the sound of its muted supercharger whining softly while the traffic behind me shrinks in the rearview mirror.

    XJs are should be like this. The newer ones are too dull fastback looking. I prefer this and the X350 ones.

    Jags as you can see were great cars. The new xj x5351 doesn't deserve the jaguar name. Design is awful, dashboard ruined.
    Come on jaguar if mercedes, audio can make good looking cars. Why can't you?
