  • thinking about how my sporadic work ethic negatively affects my self-confidence, and thinking about overcoming this in favor of a newer, humbler, more optimistic outlook.

I agree with you entirely; I guess the real issue is that pervading feeling of always having your efforts judged, like there's some societal performance bar to meet. The general idea behind my "humbler, more optimistic outlook" I guess then is basically, "don't worry about it, you're young, you have no one to answer to for yourself, so just be yourself and make mistakes because that's how you learn and become something more".
Different ways of getting at the same way of thinking, I think!

    Van Gogh!
Hey Bro, fellow INFP here & I can totally relate to everything you’re saying here. I’ve always possessed a slight disposition towards perfectionism and can be brutally hard on myself when my actions and abilities don’t correlate/aren’t up to par with the high standards I often set for myself. While having this tendency to strive for the “magnum opus” in every artistic endeavor that I undertake is good, it’s also a hindrance (as in not completing something for fear that it may be bad)

I deal with the same problem and I think the main reason why we try to avoid the things we are passion about is fear In my head is always the same i am not good enough and people will see that and be very disappointed. and off course the overthinking is so damaging makes it 10 times more complicated and at the end of the day you realise you are so tired just by the process of abusing your mind and thoughts

Thanks for the video too Ryan :) My name is also Ryan and I'm an INFP from England. I'm more the Andrew Garfield type though. You remind me allot of Robert Pattinson who is also an INFP. You seem to be more introverted and chilled than my type which is why I say I'm like Andrew Garfield. It took me soo long to decide between INFJ or INFP but everyone was telling me I was a P and I am for sure! Always late, college dropout, leave everything till the last minute... haha

Here's my non-expert, unprofessional advice: get out of the mindset that you have to be the master at something. Just focus on the feelings you get when you're drumming or writing. If you don't look at something as a chore, but rather focus on why you enjoy it, I think your passion for it will come more naturally, which will in turn allow you to develop your talents to the fullest. Just my thoughts. Great video!

I can completely relate to not practicing things I love and/or are pattionate about. I procrastinate a lot. Do lots of Infp's experiance this?
