Hi Marta...
Nice job on the comparisons. It's so hard to choose from so many products and some are a big investment so we don't want to make a mistake. Thank you for recognizing that and making a video like this! ❤💜💚 🦋🦋🦋
I am glad you made this video. I am still building my supplies and this is something I don’t have but have been looking at options and this REALLY helped me make my choices easier. I know I can trust your advice! ♥️♥️♥️
I've only used Stabilo and Neocolor II, and to me they appear to be the best ones in your test 😂
It would have been interesting to compare a light color like yellow as well, to see how opaque they are on black paper since the dark blues barely showed up on camera.
My favorite is the Neocolor II crayons. I like to use them to draw flowers on a piece of watercolor paper, activate them with a water brush and make them into cards. I like to use them along with Art Bars by Derwent..they seem to be very similar in makeup to the Neocolor II crayons and blend together very well. Very good for arting while traveling...crayons, water brush and watercolor paper...all set!
I used oil pastels that I picked up at a garage sale, didn’t care for them at first but by trial and error found they gave unusual effects! I like to combine products! Colored pencils over light acrylics or other way around was one of my best experiments! Other artists asked how did you get that look! I have pages of products similar to your testing! Blessed and safe days!
Thank you for the comparisons! Very interesting!
I can paint and practice my english too..thank you!!! God Bless You!!!
great comparisons , thank you. I like it when these items are available open stock so you don't have to buy a pack of something to get the one color you need.
Love this video thank you Marta! I have had trouble using Dina's Scribble Sticks, so I was excited to see you tested it out! I'm definitely going to use with water more!
happy to hear Jessie!
Great. comparison video. I had never heard of the stabilo crayons. Must try them out. I could not live without Distress Crayons . The DC can be tricky to use if not using the right paper with them. They work best with Ranger watercolor cardstock and on mixed media Tim Holtz tags. They also have a quick dry time so smudging must happen almost immediately after putting down the crayon. Thanks for an interesting video!🙂🎨
Hi Marta woodies for sure are my favourite ❤️
You convinced me to buy a set of woodys a few months back. I was able to buy a set of 18 BUT because I’m in Australia, they were very expensive and of course included postage on top. Do love them though. I also love my neocolours too.
My favorites are the Stabilo and Gelatos. May try the Vicki Boutin ones.
Tfs
Hugs,
Darlene
Thank you, Marta ~ this is so helpful!!!
Thank you so much . This was so helpful. Blessings
Thank you, thank you, thank you, I can only say my order of word stickers arrived today and thanks very much for all the wonderful gifts in my parcel. Beautiful cards and cardboard stickers, you really cheered my up, and made my day happy, love Jill xxxxx
Good comparison testing...I always like ur videos. I agree with you ..pick and choose to your personal needs. Hugs n love
I looove Marabu! The pigment is awesome and they are so soft and yummy to smudge. I also love my Neocolor ll but I'm not a big fan of Distress crayons because of the low pigmentation compared to the others. I would love to try Primas crayons after seeing this video!..and Dinas and Vicky's and Woody's...😱😆 Thank you for this comparison Marta! 😘
Def saving up for the Stabilo ones!
Thanks a lot for this video . It is difficult to try every brand and expensive at the end! ^^ So it is great to see how each one reacts and it gives us an idea and may be not making mistakes when buying crayons. One thing you could have tried was stamping to see how it reacts with stamping inks.
Your video was very helpful. Thank you.🙂
Love the Stabilo Woodies, wouldn't be without them. I have just bought Gelatos but I haven't had the time to play with them yet.
I am a big fan of Gelatos and distress crayons, I have them in all colors lol. But now I'm going to try some other brands. Thank you. 😀
You are so welcome!
I love comparisons!
Thank you for doing this comparison. I’ve been thinking about buying some. I do have a few gelatos but I’m thinking of trying something different.
Love gelatos and woodys, love-ranger anything! Can’t wait to finally get my craft room up! The house renos and build are fine! Now to tackle that room for me! Hubby will then relax and I will have my room! Private!!! And I got a lot of stuff I miss packed! Marta I love your vids!!
Thank you !! Very helpful indeed ❤️
Thank you for the comparisons. I really like gelatos. I have not tried stabilo yet but plan to get some to try. The neocolor looked good too but have not tried those yet either. Good idea trying them on black card stock also🙂💜💜💜 enjoy your weekend💜
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️☺️☺️☺️🖍️🖍️🖍️
Love you, you're a great teacher
Wonderful video. Very helpful!
Great test! Dina’s scribble sticks do not contain any wax and were not meant for smudging. They are not crayons. It’s the reason they mix with watercolor in the last test. Great comparison.
Marta, this was so wonderfully helpful. You have no idea! I am just starting mixed media art and have been struggling to find the best crayons to buy. There is so much needed to get started and I need to save where I can. I want ones that work really well and are affordable. This video holds invaluable information. Thank you. Thank you.
I Love this video, it's extremely helpful and I'm seriously going to refer back to it when I'm choosing what to use in my art projects. It's very nice of you to make it. Can't believe someone put a thumbs down. All the best to Marta
Haven't used any of these, but I will definitely be trying them. Thank you. Now I have an idea which to try.
Thanks for the comparison, very educational. I loooooove my Fude Ball. ❤❤❤
Fabulous - very helpful
What a great video. I learned a lott. I have gelatos, neocolor, stabilo and Dina wakley scribble sticks. I love them all. I use them for different purposes. Thank you for sharing, I learned a lot. Big hugs from me
Hi Marta, great video :) I love my Prima water-soluble oil pastels, my gelatos, and I just bought a few Woodies. I know you didn't review the Fudeball pen, but I have to say I tried 3 of them and hated every one of them - I found they skip all the time, plus one time the ink "exploded" out of the tip and ruined my page, I was so mad. I have now found Staedtler pens and I am in heaven, they never skip, they're permanent and I can get them easily at our local art store for a reasonable price. Anyway, thanks again for the video on this :) Love you loads!! xoxo
Thank you so much, I was hoping to try something like this and think the stabilos look awesome! I'm wondering how different they react on gessos too! Very interesting 💖
That was interesting. Thank you for posting.
Woodys....bought as soon as you demoed them! 💗
I have had a lot of problems with this distress crayons until I found out they do better on gesso coated things. Maybe the Dina Wakley is the same way
I love my Uniball signa pens. It didn't surprise me how well it performed. Interesting to watch this!
WOW awesome idea Marta. Loved it. Thank you for this as it was so interesting. Now must try it too. Nothing like doing it and trying the different products for oneself. 🤗🤗🤗
Interesting to see how the different brands work. I bought a budget set of oil pastels and found them really hard to work with. Your video about the 3 in 1 Stabilo Woodys convinced me to try those and I love them. So versatile and easy to use. I think they are really all I need. 👍❤
I have the Gelatos, the Neocolors II and the Twistables crayons. I love them all. I bought one pack of Distress Crayons which was a total disapointment for me. If I would have to pick one brand only, I would probably go with the Gelatos, although I love by big set of Neocolors.
same for me... Distress Crayons were just not for me... I don't think I ever made a project with them...
I’m disappointed with dIstress cRayons too. Gelatos are much better.
Greatly appreciate you going through the many different types of crayons, just yesterday I was on line wondering which one would be best to purchase as I came across Tim Holtz Distress crayons and Dina Wakley Media Scribble Sticks. This was a great help as I am just starting off my crafting collection.
I don’t have one of them. 😱
Never tried one. Maybe next time when i buy art supplys.
Thank you. ❤️🍀
Thank you this really helped me. Ordering woody
i have a crazy collection of art crayons. next on my list is the Dina Wakely. i want them so bad.
i like them for the watercolour so i dont like the smudge
Thank you for using watercolor on top of them. I was interested in how they reacted with a water medium after they dried. I just saw a a video where some pens I have never seen before was used. They are called Lamy 3 plus and look like Stabilos. They are for kids but looked very good. Water soluble wax pens. My favorite is still Prima's. I can use mediums on top of them and use them like watercolors. I gave up on those black and white ball pens and use Molotow 1mm now.
12:02 Neocolor comes in two varieties: Caran D'Ache Neocolor II is water soluble, Caran D'Ache Neocolor I is not. Both are artist grade.
26:21 Smudge-ability if you use them on a non porous surface they smudge better. How this applies to Dina Wakely I can say, since I don't own any. And my guess is it works with stabilo just fine, but I only recently bought some and haven't tried them yet on a gesso-ed piece.
Hello Marta! It’s been a very long time since I was able to watch a video the day it was posted. Thanks for sharing this info. It’s always so lovely to share time with you! Over the years I’ve also collected a number of art crayons. The only ones I really did not like were the Distress Crayons (sorry Tim!). I just found them too hard to work with so I gave away my 1.5 complete sets. I did try one lonely discounted Stabilio 3in1 and I did like it very much but not enough to justify the cost when I have so many similar products barely used. Love you & miss you too! 😘
So truly informative! Ive also used a lot of theses brands
Thanks, I hope you and your family have a super fantastic day 💜💜💜✌️✌️ Sherry
Oil pastels aren’t going to spread with water but they will spread with orderless mineral spirits
Jamifran Colors There are water soluble oil pastels that spread nicely with water. I did not think it was possible when I saw them, I had to try it, and they indeed react with water.
Try Lyra aquarelle crayons..great product.
The Distress were ones I was not fussed on when I got them
Thank you for sharing. Was very helpfull. 😊 Hugs.💟
i only have the caran dache i have water mixable oil pasteld ive had them for years .i bought new 36 color gouaches us art so many supplies what to create next i love all your videos thank you marta love gina from washington state
Hm never used crayons on my art works at all. I am also not doing enough art journalling to make really good use of crayons.
Very nice comparison. Tfs. Hugs 🤗
Read my mind again! Ty
Hi maremi, I live in the UK so would love to know what the product name of the hobbycraft crayons. Thanks
It’s causing the ball in the tip to skip because it loads up stopping the ball from turning which releases the ink Signo uniball is a favorite
Yes absolutely. Perfectly said. Thank you ❤️😍😊
17:25 - who is Jeanne (Genie, Gina) McElleri (Macarelli, Mackerille)?! Curious about where that saying comes from, thanks for sharing your cultures w us!
I say Janie macarooney. No idea where it comes from but it’s one of the many nonsensical sayings in Ireland😅.Its said when surprised by something.
A myślisz, że te stabilo będą dobre do kwiatków z foamiranu?
wow Nice content 😍
Marta, thank you for the tutorial. Is it possible to explain what you mean by 'lots of pigment ' or phrases like that, I dont really understand.
More pigment means the color is stronger when you drag a wet brush around. Less pigment results in pale colors. "Pigment" is the colored contents of the crayon, and "filler" (oil, wax) is what makes it stick together. Cheap crayons usually have more filler and less pigment than high quality ones.
@@NelaDunato thank you so much Nela, I am new to mixed media and don't always understand the terms.
I love love ❤️ my Gelatos & Marabus - I never tried the Dina Wakley I like to hear from someone that has tried them compared to the Marabu. 😊 Very informative video love it. Which is your best thanks 😊
Teresa johnson I really love my Dina Wakley. Very pigmented! Daughter uses them in college art class, too.
Sir Flynn My Kitty okay thanks I’m gonna purchase some. Thank you very much!
I don’t see how one could decide on a product by this test. I think it would depend on what you would want to use the product for and what type of paper etc… I have several types of crayons, gelatos, oil, watercolor pencils etc…they all serve a purpose
Nice and cool video ! :)
Can you please write the name of the black pen you used? Thanks.
Its a fudeball pen
@@marybeth6026 thank you, what brand is that?
Good content good video friend 👍
Hi this is mrs farooq from pakistan ur video is awesome the comparison was very informative I loved it is there anyway that I wanted to discuss about how to sell my art work that u could guide me with ur experience plz thank u
ممكن ان تضعي الترجمة المصاحبه😊💕
I was disappointed with the distress crayons, a little bit with gelatos
Maybe if you used it as you do on a proper project, with gesso, it would have worked better. Never seen you do a journal page on normal black cardstock.. just wondering.
I don’t care for the children’s gel crayons. They are similar to gellotos but much harder to blend.
