    The original SW388 & Regamaster were both made by Desmond in Russia. The new versions are both manufactured by Taneisya in Japan but don’t have any relation to each other, other than that. The new SW388 is commissioned by Spoon and the new Desmond Regamaster name was bought by ICB Motorsports and commissioned by them. That’s why the new SW388 and new EvoII have different designs-they just happen to be made in the same place in Japan.

    • @barnfind124
      @barnfind124 Před 2 lety +2

      Chris I’m going to ask because I know you know the answer. What’s the differences between the og Evo and the evo 2? I notice the lips and possibly the spokes are different widths.

    • @ChrisLumNSX
      @ChrisLumNSX Před 2 lety +2

      @@barnfind124 yes the sizes and offsets offered are different. I don’t know all the various differences though. One of the bigger design differences has to do with the “slots” or valleys on the sides of the spokes. Also now, ICB seems to have released an Evo II “tarmac” model which incorporates the flatter lip that some OG’s had. (The OG had both style lips also but I think which lip you got depended on the diameter or model). But other than minor design changes I’d say the biggest difference is that the EVO II should be a lot stronger than the old ones due to modern manufacturing techniques. All the OG are very old these days and they have a tendency to develop a crack on the inside lip of the barrel.

    • @barnfind124
      @barnfind124 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ChrisLumNSX yeah all those points make sense and I agree. The og wheels imo are noticeably better looking I think. The new sw388 are definitely different looking from any view compared to the og sw388s. Appreciate the comment back.

    I’m estimating that on a 205 you may only need to run -3 camber in the front with the 7.5 width. Which is the most I would personally go. You also need to remember that most of the little Honda bro’s are removing the front liners because they don’t care. I say DO NOT remove the liner or you’ll have more gravel in the jambs than what you want. Other option is to remold the liners by heating them up and pressing in on the rub areas.

    Spoon made the SW388s in collaboration with Desmond which had HQ in Russia. They make forged wheels. Desmond Regamaster (Evo) are a more show-y edition of the SW388 being that the Spoon versions have a specific finish for racing lacking even the slightest ounce or gram of weight that is spent on coating. Newer ones have a fold on the end of the spokes into the wheel's barrel like you pointed out in the video. Desmond Regamaster has been under the production of Monster Sport now and are not currently in production for a while.

Black hoods from the junkyard or another persons car instead of carbon fiber. Wrx owners with a Sti trunk and wing. But they would never transfer the trunk dampers. So the trunk would fly open like a rubber band snapping. Vw’s with Home Depot rubber lips. And 1 wiper conversion. Sentra SE-R’s being sentras and losing all the time. Likewise the matt Black is a poor choice of colour on any car that is a 'looker'. Personally I'd opt for a silver wheel, so you can actually see them on the car & appreciate the intricacies of the design. Love the series & the car so far. EBP EM1 has a special place in my heart.

    Spoon and Desmond collab'd together to make these wheels,only made for 3 years,and I think they were the lightest wheels around.atill hard to believe that Desmond is a Russian company,yet the wheels are JDM only.

    My vote has to go with The SW388s, you don’t get more JDM and period correct. Plus the awesome calipers and the center caps. Fantastic! I had an electron blue Si back in the day and I had bronze Volk CE28s and I thought that was the best wheel and now I’m kinda wishing I had gone with the Spoon wheels

    The Regamasters are a nice wheel, but the Spoon SW388s? Well, they’re Spoon SW388s. They’re like the holy grail of Honda wheels.

    The only reason why it looks terrible from different angles because you don’t have mudflaps you need OEM mudflaps for this car enhances, and brings out the look of the body, and also Amber sidemarkers on the fenders the USDM look with the mirrors and the em1 coupe si fenders go with the OEM foldable mirrors and OEMAmber side markermarkers

    The rear upper control arm is or becomes the camber arm when you have a adjustable one, the toe arm is to the front on the trailing arm.

    Neither wheels, dark wheels dont work well on the blue car in my opinion. Need a lighter gray or silver wheel. Fyi I am sure you noticed, front driverside on an EM1 stock has a larger spring, so it will sit crooked if you dont adjust for that.

    Spoon wheels for sure with 205’s or the 215’s made to work with suspension adjustments and roll the rear quarters a bit more.

    Looks more like 2-3 degrees of camber to me but let's call it 40. And a little camber Looks good on any car in my opinion.

    This car deserves more. Some nr10r with the teal center cap would be perfect. Out of the two however def sw.

    Matt, I’m sure you get a lot of hate from all the money you spend on this Car. And while people might say that the same money can be spent on better wheels, I think there is something special in even placing such iconic wheels on the car.
    I’ve never been a Honda fanboy, I’ll be the first to say that I think it’s pretty awesome that your doing this for the community (even though it’s for yourself), Kind of living peoples younger dreams and fantasy’s by will haha.
    The series will go down as a comprehensive database for upgrades all the civic boys for the rest of CZcams’s future - something that’s never been done before. I think that’s pretty cool in itself.
    You can probably promote the giveaway more in the beginning to maximise profits - I’m sure the loyal subs won’t mind.
    Keep up the killer work Matty. We appreciate the process.

    I like this style wheels the best, for the first time the rear doesn't look ugly. The offset should be a tad lower perhaps +33 rather than +38.

    I know I have seen this car and what the purchase price was from another video. And when I heard the total spent on this car all together. And my immediate reaction was. “ good deal “. You can’t find these things. Let alone in a “ decent “ condition. Especially a si. I really hope this is the right car I’m thinking of.

    Regamasters for me. There’s just something about the way they looked with those lug nuts. I’m curious to see them once the tires are switched and you apply the stickers. That may make or break the look due to the red which to that I would say maybe red calipers but I’m not sure.

    The spoon setup becuz you get more respect with the bigger sidewall/camber look haha. Its just makes the car look that much harder.
