2023 FL5 Honda Civic Type-R - Spoon Sports SW388 Wheels | Eibach Lowering Springs Installation

- We have not just one but two of the 2023 Honda Civic Type-R in Boost Blue and Championship White. In this episode, we will focus on the Boost Blue unit. Start off with the Honda Optional Accessory Alcantara steering wheel, then move on mounting a set of brand new Spoon Sport SW388 Wheels and Falken Azenis (265/35/18) tires. We finished off with a set of Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs from the FK8 Civic Type-R and 4 wheel alignment.

Unless you are wearing drivers gloves, leather steering wheel is the best option. The alcantara steering wheels always look gross from sweating/oily hands. The material doesn’t last as long.

The reason you have more in the right rear is due to the heat emitting from the vehicle or a vehicle on near by. We have the same issue at my dealership anytime we leave the cars running on the rack.

I'm running a set of tsw kamora 18 by 8.5 35 offset and some rt660 255/40 on stock height, and it rubbed once in the back going over some sort of dip on the road.

Came here to say the same thing about the tires. Could've done at least a 275. The wheels are 9.5" wide.
275 is a bit too aggressive and might rubs over hard bumps and full turns

this is the style wheel that i want to see on the type s, EXCEPT I don't want the spokes to angle out like they do in the spoon wheels.

Hi theere , I have a question .. any rubbing issues with the this setup ? I just spoke to one of Spoon reps and they told me that with a 40 spacing that I willd defenately have some rubbing issues both front and rear ... I would really apreciate it if you can share any of thought or feedback on this matter ...

I have a question on the eibach sportline springs. How do they ride? Is it more bumpy than the factory ride? Also did you have to alter the oem bump stops? Why sport line vs the pro kit? Thank you! Great video.
They ride very well. As you can see on the video, we trimmed the bumper stop. Sportline provides a lower and sportier ride. Yet Pro-Kit is a great option as well
on my 21 bb i'm trying to swap out of the alantara to leather and you're doing the other way around lol :D

How low did you go? I have an FL1 not as cool as your FL5 but liked how it looks at that ride height
These lowering springs are about -1.4" drop all around

As an FK8 owner as well, I agree it’s a nice looking car. Unfortunately for us in the U.K. as it’s made from unobtainium I have literally 0% chance of owning one so I’ll be sticking with the FK8.

nope, Spoon wheels are designed more of a performance part to swap in n out. Since they’re expensive people treat them like show wheels, I don’t blame them I would too.

I will keep the leather steering wheel. I live in the south and I would rather have my sweaty hands on leather. I am going to up grade to the OEM leather wrapped shifter though and do a 15% tint with a tint bar on the front.

Yes they will mostly settle a little more. Not enough to need a new alignment.

I will say, the first time I realize those wheels don't match a Civic. Never thought that day would come as I've liked those wheels on Civic hatchbacks. The current civic have so much that Euro sleek design, the wheels just doesn't match it's character.

Just my opinion but rays, spoon, Magen, and all the legendary tuning companies need to offer options that at the very least match factory spec. Seems like everyone is downsizing their wheels because there are no factory equivalents offered by these companies. A perplexing trend for those of us that put larger wheels that weighed less than stock on our cars for ages.
If you aren’t running t66 turbos with nos with those spoon engines I don’t want to even hear it

I don’t think it’s a good idea to put springs designed for an FK8 on the FL5. Yes it fits, but that doesn’t mean it will work properly since both cars weigh differently.
the steering wheel needs a red line
Beware of the blown turbo (overboost) and snapped camshaft issue(s) with the new Type R! They're already coming back to dealerships with these issues in 100% OEM configuration! Crazy!

@AWD Obsession I'm seeing it at my local dealership.....my good friend of 20yrs is a lead Honda tech there. They've already seen 3 of these come back with these specific issues.
