trust me even if it's slow, for just an intake and exhaust, the VTEC crossover is BEAUTIFUL!!!! no other engine even ferraris or other exotic cars produce such an amazing growl just coming from the intake!!

You need a ctr 1" brake master. I have the same setup and it stops on a dime.
Exactly, upgraded brake master is the ticket when you go to big brakes on these cars, I wonder if a TL-type S cylinder would work

Yes bigger master cylinder is a must when going with bigger pots on the calipers. You need to move more fluid now.

It is always more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. As long as you are in that VTEC range, it's the soundtrack of fun and excitement! Super sweet EM1. Super sweet!

Matt, try upgrading the brake master cylinder to OEM Integra type r part, will firm up the pedal and it’s a direct swap.

It's a testament to Honda that so many die-hard fans come back or stick around into their 30s, 40s... hell, I've come across plenty of 60+ S2000 and new Type R owners. When you look past that commuter car focus, Honda really does make some awesome driver's cars. When you have one of the best motorsports/racing history of any auto brand, I guess that's not so difficult.

Word of advice on the traction bar. DO NOT GET ONE. I bought the Full-Race Traction Bar and its a nice piece but once installed it makes it near impossible to make a U-turn on these cars. To make it work I had to switch my front LCAS and Sway bar over to the Civic EX models version to make it work and be able to U-turn properly. It's the positioning of where the radius arm mounts to the LCAS, they are more inward on the dx,lx,ex style LCAS and further out on the original 99-00 Si LCAS. Just thought I'd share. Beautiful build by the way!

Miss our ‘99 Civic. Wasn’t an Si unfortunately but still has such an involved driving experience and such a nice mechanical feeling. Even the engine in that car was a dream, not fast, but had intake V-TEC and was so balanced.
Nice to see Matt reminisce, with a smile. That’s what these cars are about for some people.. going back in time.

Don’t play the “find that sound game” with civics. You’ll never win. But everything looks solid! Check the front fender liner clips, those are typically the first point of contact in the front. Replace them with low profile pop clips and you might get an extra 1/4 inch of travel.
Do you recommend just a muffler from Yokohama for a d17 or full exhaust I’m wanting more sound from my d17a2 but not that beehive rasp

You may not always be the fastest person on the road in your honda but your definitely the happiest
You’ll most likely need to update the master cylinder to improve the brakes. You did up the piston count from 1 to 4 per wheel which requires more fluid to be pushed through the system.
Consider the 1” mc and booster from integra gsr or type r. Another option is the 2005 rsx-s mc and booster. I blieve the rsx will give you the best feel because of the booster.

Have you done stainless steel brake lines? They make the pedal feel less spongy. With old brake lines they tend to swell a tiny bit under pressure, making it feel spongy.

I had a em1 way back with the b16. That motor sounds so good, slow as shit, but sounds great! I love how all the b series sound, glad your not going k. Sure they make more power, but they dont sound good.

I'm not sure there's a car out there which can trump this build Matt. mk4 R32 would be epic cos its exhaust noises are pure sex for the ears, but while it'd be an amazing build this EM1is the ultimate.

I had a wide angle Broadway Optics mirror for many years until the clips broke. It was great for seeing out my Integra hatch glass which doesn’t have much visibility otherwise.
