  • The Patriot surface-to-air missile system has become a critical piece in Ukraine's arsenal in fending off aerial threats from Russia. The weapons system is defending Ukrainian ground troops, cities and critical infrastructure throughout the country.
    The Patriot has even been successful in destroying one of Russia’s most advanced weapons, the Kh-47 hypersonic missile. But what goes behind operating the complex Patriot system?
    WSJ takes an in-depth look at how the U.S.-made system works to keep Ukraine’s skies safe and looks at some of the disadvantages for the Ukrainian military that come with the Patriot.

    One extra thing that is important to note is that a Patriot battery is spread out over a wide area, the components are not parked right next to each other. Because of this, it is impossible to fully destroy a Patriot battery with a single missile. This information is important to counter the Russian misinformation around claims of successful strikes against Patriot.

      @@nischuma6910 The taxes you pay in Saint Petersburg aren't funding the Patriot systems sent to Ukraine so your comprehension of the situation is not required. Your money is, however, funding the various weapons which Ukraine is capturing and turning against Russia so maybe you should begin to concern yourself with this detail. Maybe you can summon the courage to pressure your government to stop sending weapons to Ukraine and your taxes can begin to do something helpful for your country. Russia is going to need every ruble it can scrape up to rebuild itself over the next century after this calamity.

      *It looks like the Military Industrial Complex is still PROFITING from wars that the USA doesn't need to engage in; all at the expense to the American Tax Payer. This whole defending "democracy" over there is complete B/S. Ukraine is supremely corrupt, the Germans are affected much more by Putin's cowardliness IN UKRAINE than we are as Americans, and Putin's invasion of Ukraine does not affect our own "so-called" democracy here. That's an incontrovertible fact.*
      *Nevertheless, we [American] TAX PAYERS bear the greatest FINANCIAL expense (more then the Germans and all of Western Europe) -- all while we have over half a million homeless Americans sleeping and starving in our streets, dilapidated roads, failing public schools, crime on the rise, lack of decent affordable healthcare, etc. that's also an irrefutable fact. The ultimate reality and bottom line is this: No one will dare invade the USA, not even China. There is no need for us to be the policeman of the world WASTING AWAY TAX PAYER DOLLARS on FOREIGN WARS. Americans are getting fleeced and shafted by its corrupt, warmongering, inept leaders.*

    The manpower requirement in the video is misleading. 90 might be the optimal number of soldiers to unpack and set up the battery, but that doesn't happen often. Info from people who have worked with the patriot directly (Habitual Linecrosser on CZcams for example) claim that 3 shifts of 8 hours with 10 soldiers each is most common for a battery on standby, and the number will go up if an attack seems imminent, or if the battery is spread over a larger area.

    • @ramal5708
      @ramal5708 Před 10 měsíci +21

      First of all, back then it was the Mujahideen not Taliban yet,
      Secondly the "Taliban" you implied, in my book the Mujahideen wasn't a sovereign country or a body of legitimate government, they were rebels or guerillas, since Afghanistan had a running government supported by the Soviets, hence that's why the West sent Stinger portable missile, Blowpipe MANPADs etc something shoulder fired in terms of missiles, also deliveries of lots of AK-47 type of rifles from China, yes China, captured AKs by Israel and many others so it won't appeared like the US and West sending the Mujahideen their own product like at the time was M-16 for the US and FAL for Western European countries.If you're the modern day or present day Vietminh, Vietcong or any other rebels that was trying to take down your running government, the West or the Russians would never send high profile weapons systems like US made Patriot, Himars, Javelin or Russian made S-300, T-72 or T-80 tanks, probably small arms, light cannons and shoulder fired missile systems. if you're sending high profile weapons then either the West or Russia would get caught red handed that they supported guerrillas or rebels.
      Thirdly since Ukraine is a sovereign country and has legitimate government and military the West and the US would be comfortable with sending their weapons to Ukraine and it doesn't have to go through clandestine procedure, so the West aren't reluctant in sending their best and newest weapons to Ukraine. During the Vietnam War, North Vietnam a legitimate government before reunification had S-75 missile system, T-54/55s, PT-76s, Mi series helicopters etc during the war from the Soviets. The Vietcongs in the South would only get AK rifles, ammunition and probably equipment for soldiers like helmets, radios, but nothing more.
