I was there in 2012 (Singapore) right up against the barriers. Their first time in my country. It was the Heritage tour, but I came for the true gold, their older stuff. I was not disappointed. The Grand Conjuration was in the latter half of the setlist, and when that came on, I was transported. Into the heavenly depths of the abyss. As was everyone else. Caught a pick too. That night was magic.
I'm turning 49 this year, but my love for metal, including extreme metal, will never fade. I am sad to see what's happened to Opeth of late, I just can't get into their newer stuff. No offence to new fans, but you just can't compare what Opeth were before to this new band.

The vocalw are actually more clean as they don't have any death growls like Opeth does. The vocalist Warrel Dane however manages to put a lot of aggression into his vocals without screaming. The Guitarist Jeff Loomis is also one of the great virtuosos in metal and rock. Check out their songs "This Godless Endeavour", "The Heart Collector" or "Tomorrow Turned in Yesterday".

You guys sure did pick an amazing song here, possibly one of Opeth's most underrated if there is such a thing. As a lowly self taught drummer myself, this is some of my favorite drumming from the band, super nice cymbal & high hat work coupled with amazing recording clarity really makes this whole album shine. This was Martin Lopez on the drums, Opeth has had something like 3 different drummers or more over the years, all are amazing.
I love watching you guys' reactions, keep doing Opeth and I'll keep watching. Oh, and if you care to do a more change of pace reaction, I strongly recommend any Rush songs that you are unfamiliar with, La Villa Strangiato would be a perfect song.

It's either this one or Wreath that are my Opeth faves. Can't wait for your reaction to that one. Every bit as intense.

Opeth is like Rembrandt. Painting a musical and spiritual image. And, it's therapeutic.

    Majesty
    Faithful me
    Pour yourself
    Into me
    Wield your power
    Martyr's price
    Stare me down
    To the ground
    The eyes of the devil
    Fixed on his sinners
    Slake my thirst
    Eternal wealth
    Heathen key
    Round my neck
    This poetry
    Our blasphemy
    Know the sounds
    Of infamy
    The hands of Satan
    Assembling his flock
    Pale horse rider
    Scorching the earth
    Whispered conjuration
    A belief takes form
    Choking hand tapping
    The veins in your throat
    His orders in your mouth
    A decree for domination
    Beneath the tides of wisdom
    Spins the undertow of hate
    Injected seeds of vengeance
    Usurper's eyes of the powerless
    Clean path to his kingdom
    Beckoning in the mist
    (The grand conjuration)
    Tell me why
    Love subsides
    In the light
    Of your wishes
    Say my name
    Ease the pain
    Clear the smoke
    In my head

Its crazy how many great songs they have, but you should also check out some of their earlier works. i would recommend Forest of October, Advent or In Mist She Was Standing. From other bands you should definitely see Be'lakor - From Scythe to Sceptre.
