Anyone else notice that Hillbilly didn't have the flare nuts on the line when he was showing how to flare the front brake line? Then boom, he did? :) The magic of editing!
The whole time Hillbilly was hooking up the flaring tool, I was yelling that he forgot the fitting!
Yep,,And we've all done it at least once ourselves!!
@@robnobrc In my case, it was way more than once.🙃
We all have forgot a fitting or two before we flare the tube
Hillbilly is getting really comfortable on camera. His segment was awesome! Glad to see his comfort expanding.
Came to the comment to say just that !
He is improving so much in front of the camera, this guy rocks
I agree!
Demry smarter then people think. She’s kept you from making mistakes a lot. Good wife. She is paying attention
And she's a beauty too!
I mean it is their business and job where her title is the boss so....
Just wanted to say good job from Hillbilly, I'm sure it must of been daunting having to work and record on his own but he nailed it.
FYI: From a retired machinist, use low gear on the drill and keep the reamer wet with cutting oil/WD40/etc. for it to cut best and last.
Exactly!...just not on a pitman arm, lol.
this ^^^ 10000% I don't think Robby or Hillbilly believe in cutting oil. (and I bet they throw away drill bits too)
@@harlech2you're right but in their defense, he probably gets really nervous w/oils being slung around n splattered, as its a bodyshop. I know he's got a mech. room, but its all under the same roof along w/the threat of fisheyes. Still doesn't change the fact though I guess.
Saw the same and thought the same... as a machinist it was a cringe moment to watch the reamer and drill just getting smoked. Readers can be resharpened... so can good drill bits... but ugggh cutting oil is key.. also helps you not work harding the items... 😮😢
Would you use cutting fluid to keep it cool or an anti abrasive like WD-40 that resists cutting ? Two different chemicals with two different properties . One to promote cutting one to stop it .
Respect to ROBBIE LAYTON HILLBILLY DINNER, DEMRY,AND LINCOLN..... THE BOYS GETTING IT DONE....YES, DEMRY IS ONE OF THE BOYS
Someone liked my comment......was that Lincoln or DEMRY? Cause robbie is sooooo busy working on people's" HAPPY LITTLE ACCIDENTS".
Dude, you obviously have not looked too close at Demri. She is definitely NOT one of the boys.
Those wheels are looking sweet, I hope Hillbilly reconsiders his love of steel wheels. Great video guy's.
25:58 I'm impressed with Hillbilly magically getting the fitting on after flaring the line. The magic of editing I presume. 😄
No mechanic has never not made that mis-take. Came he to see if I was the only one to notice.
Enjoyed the Blue Steel segment where Robbie picked up his MCJ award. Way to go Robbie!!
The straight, horizontal bar going between the steering knuckles is the tie rod, and the angled bar going from the steering box to one of the knuckles is the drag link.
Hahaha...
“Tie rod” ties the two steering knuckles together
This is why your front axle is moving, the tie rod is making contact on the diff. Traditionally tie rods have angles at each end as well. I hope this helps!
There are no tie rods in that setup.
@@notsevenfeettall
They are tie rod ends.
The bar they attach to is the center link... linking the tie rod ends together.
Assembled, it is a tie rod assembly.
Great editing for HILLBILLY who did an excellent job explaining the brake lines.
I kinda like the bull's horn effect of the steering wheeling being 180* out. Might enhance Hillbilly's wheelin'.
Looking forward to seeing the Broncstar on the rocks.
ME TOO!!!
You all do better in Crunch Time. Glad the boss keeps all you guys on track
Remember to listen to the Boss AKA the voice of reason she has your back. Good luck with your build.
😂😂😂 just noticed in the description at the end.. “thanks for watching, Daddy loves you!” 😂😂😂
5:15 - Love the torch and the hole in the tarp a few seconds later 😀
Stay safe guys. Love the content!
I was hoping someone else noticed that!
Really like Hillbilly's explanations. The Bronc Star is looking good.
It seems highly likely Cody pitched in a ton if this got done.
The bigger the drill, the slower the speed! Love the show!
Amazing job on crunch time ....everything fast paced....great job on cam work Boss !
It’s amazing to me, the amount of work that you and all your men get done. Man. Absolutely, Amazing.
Broncstar is looking awesome!
Your tubing work looks great. In spite of your normal attention to detail in your body work, I didn’t expect the lines you created on the Bronco to look so good. Really sweet!
Anyone else anxiously waiting to see if Hillbilly remembered the nut before flaring the end?
Lol, right on...I've forgotten that before too.
Nice fabrication work. Can’t wait to see it on the trails.
Hillbilly deserves more credit, to get on camera and have ppl say things good or bad it's tough to put yourself out there. I couldn't imagine ppl watching me in the shop, all the content is great and hillbilly, dinner, Cory, the boss their all part of this show to me...
that pitman arm stands no chance
And wait till HB learns how much harder it will be to steer in a bind
Robbie, the tube work looks so cool! Keep up the great work on the FlagShip BroncStar! And can Demri get any cuter???
Those rims and tires are absolutely ridiculous, and I freakin love it.
Yeah hillbilly is shining in this video, good job. You all are amazing.
I like the idea of color matching the bumper. But if Matt likes Black. Let's see a nice mat black maybe that special tough coating which will not chip or scratch. 😊
Totally enjoying Robby learning to bend tubing. And WTG Cowboy videoing and working solo. We are all excited for BroncStar-dom! Great video. Even a cameo by Peanut!🌺
On ford front ends they all have a track bar so front end does not move side to side when you steer, I would build one for sure. It will stress your coil overs without it!
Bronkstar is comming along I think you'll make it to EJS, great video thank's for sharing ❤😉👍
Wishing you guys luck.. love your channel
Great video and thanks for sharing your experience.
Never fails.. race car or hot rod ... always thrashing at the end to get it done... it's like buying Christmas gifts no matter what.. it's Christmas eve and you are still scrambling to get that one or two or three or.... last gifts. But in the end it all comes together and everything basically done. It is all fun... and you have a whole year to do what you have to do for next year.... until suddenly you realize it's crunch time AGAIN !!!!
I will take welding wire and form it to fit the tube want. Minding that you are modeling the top of the bar or the bottom then bend to match. WAD (wire aided design)
The bronxstar is really coming on well done
I thought it was hilarious that on 5:15 to 5:20 or so you completely played off the burnt wall!
Lol when he lit the torch, my first thought was how close to the wall the press is. Indeed it might have been too close.
Robbie is turning into an artist with his tubing work and design.
With that steering ratio, it's going to be really hard on the wheel, column and steering shaft. Also, it's gonna be rough.
I have a feeling that if you run with no proportioning valve your going to lock the rear tires before the fronts are engaged hard. The goal of a proportioning valve is to have front and rear lock up at the same time for best braking distance and control. Front tires have more weight above them wich means better traction when braking
Can't wait to see the bronc star done.
So wise , Thank you . Another fine trophy for the collection
Drag link connects to your pitman arm and drags the the entire steering assembly from side to side. Tie rod ties both wheels together so both wheels turn as the drag link swings from one side to the other.
Brakes only slow things down. Great vids! Thank you guys.
So excited to see the work to be done on Blue Steel. Color matched front bumper would look awesome!
Hello Robby from Sydney Australia. Exceptional eye for detail, discovering the steering clearance on the BRONXSTAR.
🌏🇭🇲
You are good at making those pipes. Much work!
It’s coming along nicely guys. Can’t wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God Bless.
Looking good making good progress
That thing is looking sweet
Great work on the hardline hillbilly.
Nice work on the tubing Robby, looking pro
Lots of work. Good progress..
Way to go Demri! Great to see you in the video.
Robby Layton fabrication has a good ring to it
Hahaha... i like at the 5:00 minute mark the wall looked good... Hillbilly doing some torching then 2 seconds later burnt wall... good times :)
Good progress guys.
Bronc Star is coming right along!! It's gonna be awesome!!
Drag link connects the steering box to the knuckle.
The track rod connects the two knuckles to each other.
You have no tie rods in that setup.
The other common way this kind of steering is set up is to have the drag link connected between the pitman arm and an idler arm. The drag link then doesn't move with the suspension. You then have tie rods connecting the drag link to each knuckle and would normally also have a track rod between the two knuckles.
Great video and great job with the truck and God bless from GA and stay safe
Hillbillie is an awesome cameraman and shop engineer at the same time,,,,, fast moving....clear n precise.
Yes, you need brakes. Since everything is extremely accessible, do them now. @18:54... The Boss correcting the Wardrobe Malfunction! (YAY!!!) 😊😊 I think you're going to want a proportioning valve. 😉😉
Them are some amazing looking wheels going on that bronc star
Robby, your tapered reamers& drill bits will last MUCH longer if you use cutting oil, and SLOW DOWN with the drill moter.
Any how looks pretty good so far. Good luck at EJS.
Hillbilly is right, it’s called a drag link. The tie rod is what connects the wheels together, and the drag link is what connects the pitman arm to the knuckle.
Cody : the Sobering Voice of Reality
( 😄 )
Good little video all the best well done guy's
Nice mix of projects ! Thanks for sharing ! Will the Bronco be done on time ?
Hey guys, Bronc-star is looking good. Have you thought about moving the steering box forward so you can keep the full 4 rotations on the wheel with the original pitman arm? FYI: I talked to Hillbilly at the wrecker games by the handwashing station.
Love watching your channel and hillbilly did a great job 👏
Demry is awesome. She even helps you not look dorky when your ear is bent forward!😀 Robby, you said you were in hot water. I bet you’re in hot water a lot! But hey, your fun to watch! Oh, do you need a Toyota Land Cruiser? On old one?
Awesome video I totally believe that you will get her done
That wall got a little warm 😂
Love the "computer working " circle for those in "deep thought"
I use a piece of wire with all the bends in the correct orientation. I call it an antler preventer
Surprised you've never done tube work, the work you've done looks as good as Paul's!
You are all awesome- stay humble
That tube works really good. It looks like you are doing this. For years !
Nice tube work!
Great build
For internal roll cages, to get to the top of all the welds, make the verticals shorter. You can then build the cage a bit short and fully weld over the top and then lift to correct height by placing a footing under each vertical.
Besides Cleetus and Fab Rats you are my favorite chanel
Coming along very Nice Hillbilly and Robby
Love the new welding shirt.
Yes you need Breaks always do the breaks. Do the breaks we like Hillbilly 😊
Full hydro!!!! Great video - why was Demri mad?....spill!!
Nice to see cody
Dinner is awesome. Video jump up in quality when he’s in them!
Hill Billy is a genius with the pry bar brake bleed
Put TRACKBAR on BroncoStar front axle that's why axle shifted at full steering I don't think the front links have enough triangulation so instal TRACKBAR
Wing nuts !! move the gear box forward extend
Lol thank you for the loading symbol on hill Billy's 4head. The look of confusion killed me
It looks like Hillbilly burned the insulation in the wall! Nice job guys!!
It is actually called a Trackrod, as it run's from left to right of the vehicle. Where a Draglink run's from front
to back of vehicle, as you would have with twin steer Prime Mover's.
One reason that front axle walks is due to no double triangulation without a track bar and the over steering also i would recommend a Toyota style box that mounts on the outside of the frame
Yeah.. The axle's gonna shift when you steer it, way 4-link goes with the steering still coming off the chassis, check out the bump steer when you flex it too.
4-link works best with full hydro steering on-axle no doubt; panhard is to triangulate the steering and link forces stopping the axle shifting when it's setup right.
Ask Paul about it. xD
Brakes are quick and easy, so just do it 🤘
The longer you hold it the hotter it'll get - now that is a t-shirt phrase if I've ever heard of one
Robby in my opinion you should definitely leave Hillbilly in charge more when you are away he is good at explaining things and I think he is a great teacher.
Blue steel on has minor damage I thought it would be a lot worse I was surprised.
Robby you should never upset your lovely wife the boss is definitely one of a kind and someone I have a ton of respect for
